About Beijing

Beijing is a Chinese Restaurant located at 321 S Madison St, Lebanon, IL 62254, USA. They can be contacted at (618) 537-9996 or +1 618-537-9996. As a local establishment within the Chinese Restaurant category, Beijing offers Chinese cuisine to the Lebanon community. The available customer reviews present differing opinions on the food quality and value offered by this restaurant.

One customer describes Beijing as a "family owned restaurant" and notes that the food is generally "good." Their primary suggestion for improvement concerns the balance between rice and the side meal, specifically mentioning that more rice would be preferable when ordering Sweet and Sour Pork. Despite this point, they conclude that Beijing is a "nice and small place where you can eat and takeaway," indicating that the restaurant offers both dine-in and carry-out services.

In contrast, another customer expresses significant dissatisfaction with their meal, describing it as "some of the yuckiest Chinese food I’ve had in ages." They provide several specific criticisms regarding the quality and taste of various dishes. The food was described as "overcooked" with an "odd flavoring," which they likened to tasting "cheap." The Crab Rangoon was noted for having an "extra sweet flavor," which may not be to everyone's preference. The crispy noodles were described as "beyond crispy," suggesting they might have been excessively hard or brittle. The rice was reported as "not sticky," which can affect the texture and overall enjoyment of the dish. The Chop Suey was criticized for not having "much flavor." Finally, the General Tso Chicken pieces were described as smaller than normal ("bite sized") and "overcooked so badly" that they were difficult to swallow due to dryness, with the sauce not adequately coating the meat.

Based on these two reviews, there is a clear divergence in customer experience at Beijing. One customer found the food to be good overall, with a minor suggestion regarding rice portion size, and appreciated the option for both dine-in and takeaway. The other customer had a very negative experience, citing issues with the taste, texture, and preparation of multiple dishes.

The first review describes Beijing as a "nice and small place," suggesting a cozy and intimate dining environment. The second review does not comment on the restaurant's ambiance or décor.

In terms of services, Beijing offers both dine-in ("where you can eat") and carry-out ("and takeaway") options, as explicitly mentioned by one reviewer. The availability of phone ordering is implied by the process of customers leaving reviews about their experiences.

Features of Beijing, according to one reviewer, include being a family-owned establishment serving generally good food, with a suggestion for improved rice-to-entree ratios for certain dishes like Sweet and Sour Pork. The negative review highlights features such as potentially overcooked and poorly flavored dishes, unusually sweet Crab Rangoon, excessively crispy noodles, non-sticky rice, bland Chop Suey, and small, dry General Tso Chicken with insufficient sauce.

There is no promotional information available for Beijing based on the provided data. It is unknown if they offer any discounts, special deals, or loyalty programs.

In conclusion, the customer reviews for Beijing Chinese Restaurant in Lebanon, IL, present a mixed picture. One customer found the food to be generally good and appreciated the dine-in and takeaway options, suggesting a pleasant, small, family-run establishment. However, another customer had a significantly negative experience, citing numerous issues with the taste, texture, and preparation of several dishes, leading to a highly unfavorable impression. This stark contrast in feedback makes it difficult to provide a definitive assessment of Beijing based solely on these two reviews.

Potential local users considering Beijing may want to weigh these differing experiences. The positive review suggests a decent local option, particularly if the specific concerns about rice portions are not a major issue for their preferred dishes. However, the negative review raises significant concerns about the overall quality and preparation of the food, which could be a deterrent for some.

Given the limited and conflicting nature of the available feedback, it is advisable for potential customers to consider these points and perhaps seek additional reviews or try the restaurant themselves to form their own opinion. The experience at Beijing may vary depending on individual preferences and the specific dishes ordered.

This is a family owned restaurant. The food is good, but the only thing that I found could be better, is the contrast of rice and your side meal. If there was more rice, instead of (what I've ordered) Sweet and sour pork, it would be much better. Overall, nice and small place where you can eat and takeaway.

Some of the yuckiest Chinese food I’ve had in ages. Overcooked. Odd flavoring, almost cheap tasting. Crab Rangoon had this extra sweet flavor. Crispy noodles were beyond crispy. Rice wasn’t sticky. Chop suey didn’t have much flavor. General Tso chicken pieces were bite sized, so smaller than normal. Overcooked so badly, I was choking it down due to dryness. The sauce wasn’t even covering it all the meat.

Reading the advertisement for the restaurant, "Best Chinese in Lebanon", my thought was the Only Chinese restaurant. After eating their food, they are not only the best in Lebanon but the best in the area. Crab Rangoon was crispy and NOT greasy like so many restaurants. General Tso's chicken was excellent. I recommend them highly.

Standard fast food Chinese restaurant where the food is cheap. I was a bit disappointed by the House Special Lo Mein bc it was bland and yet salty. I will try other dishes. Update: online ordering has allowed for more variety since you can order extra ingredients. Also, the Healthy options menu (food is steamed with sauces on the side) is good 👍

I've ordered from this establishment many times since I moved to Lebanon in April of this year. Yes, maybe it's a little hard on the phone but not too bad. The food has always been great, and I've never had to wait if I call ahead.
