Beijing BBQ distinguishes itself by focusing on the art of grilling and roasting, particularly evident in their extensive skewer menu. This approach provides a different culinary experience compared to traditional stir-fried or steamed Chinese dishes commonly found in the area. The restaurant aims to bring the flavors of Beijing-style barbecue and other regional Chinese specialties to the local Cupertino community.
Based on the available customer reviews, the environment at Beijing BBQ appears to be casual and focused on the food. While specific details about the décor or ambiance are limited, the emphasis in the reviews is primarily on the unique dishes and their flavors. It's reasonable to expect a setting that complements the style of food being served, likely a comfortable and unpretentious space where the focus is on enjoying the grilled and roasted items.
In terms of services, Beijing BBQ primarily functions as a dine-in restaurant where customers can enjoy their meals on-site. While the reviews do not explicitly mention takeout or delivery services, it is common for restaurants to offer these options. To confirm the availability of takeout or delivery, it is advisable to contact the restaurant directly using the provided phone numbers.
The standout feature of Beijing BBQ is undoubtedly its wide variety of skewers. Customers have raved about several options, highlighting the unique flavors and preparation. A notable offering is the chicken heart skewers, which have garnered positive feedback. For the more adventurous palate, they also serve stinky tofu, described as quite pungent, although one reviewer noted it might not be as spicy or sour as they prefer compared to other establishments. The pricing of the skewers, ranging from approximately $4 to $9, is also considered reasonable by patrons.
Beyond skewers, Beijing BBQ offers other substantial dishes. The beef noodle soup has been praised for containing "delicious meaty bits," possibly intestines, indicating a more authentic and traditional preparation. The lamb skewers are another highlight, with one reviewer noting their similarity to those found in China, emphasizing their flavor and perfect cooking. Additionally, the Jinan pork casserole and Nanchang rice noodles have been described as "solid" options, suggesting a broader menu beyond just grilled items.
Customer experiences provide valuable insights into the quality and taste of the food. The roasted pork belly skewer received exceptional praise, earning a "10 outta 10" rating. It was lauded for its generous seasoning and the excellent balance between the meat and fat, resulting in a delightful combination of salty, chewy, and soft textures. In contrast, the roasted sausage skewers were less impressive, with one customer describing them as similar to a "boring microwave sausage" and not presented as appealingly as the menu picture.
The grilled eggplant is another noteworthy dish, described as a small but visually appealing and well-seasoned plate with a strong garlic flavor. Customers are advised to be prepared for the prominent garlic taste. The portions of the dishes are generally considered decent, and the prices are perceived as fair, contributing to a positive overall dining experience for many.

They have chicken heart skewers! I love those. The stinky tofu is very stinky and not as spicy or sour as i would like (I think maybe I like the stinky tofu at moon tea better but I'm not sure). I also like the skewer pricing which is around $4-$9. I liked the beef noodle soup too, it had these delicious meaty bits in it (maybe intestines). Second time visiting - I have more notes. The roasted sausage skewers are not cut as nicely as their menu picture suggests and I would not order it again. It just feels like a boring microwave sausage. The roasted pork belly skewer is a 10 outta 10. Lots of seasoning. The meat and fat mix is a great balance of salty, chewy and soft. The grilled eggplant - it's a small dish kind of flat but very pretty, well seasoned, yummy, and an explosion of garlic. Prepare your tums.
The lamb skewers here are good, remind me of the ones in China. Super flavorful and cooked just right. I also tried the Jinan pork casserole and the Nanchang rice noodles, and both were solid. The portions are decent, and the prices are pretty fair too. Definitely will come back again
The best Chinese bbq in the Bay Area! The service is amazing and the quality of the food seems fresh enough. There are also a variety of beverage options as well as some soups and noodles if you don’t feel like eating too much bbq.
A fairly new Chinese restaurant in the Homestead and Stelling strip mall specialized in grilled foods from northern China. We sampled an assortment of skewers such as grilled lamb, grilled beef with pineapple, grilled chicken, grilled cauliflower, grilled green beans, grilled potatoes, and grilled eggplant, all seasoned with cumin, chili (very mild), and some other spices. The grilled eggplant is flavored with lots of garlic and spices - very tasty. The foods were quite tasty but the meat could have been better cuts and fresher. Surprisingly, one of the big hits turned out to be the pig trotter rice bowl. We learned from our waitress that the chef is from the Canton area in China and so some of these Cantonese dishes (on the opposite side of the menu from the grilled page) are very authentic. Our waitress was very attentive. This is a nice casual place and a good addition to the strip mall where there are already some good and authentic Asian restaurants.
Originally I planned to have Peking duck next door but it didn't work out so came here instead. TLDR, order the BBQ items but skip the other non BBQ items. Chinese BBQ is a popular street food or late night snack and it seems it's becoming more popular in NorCal finally. This is one of the better places in terms of taste when it comes to the BBQ items. First, as I stated earlier don't order the non BBQ items such as Hainan chicken which is cold and not tender at all. The chicken rice is also way off. I think they put it on the menu just so parents can order for their kids while they themselves can order the BBQ. The beef tripe casserole is better but still I think BBQ is where the restaurant shines. The BBQ items such as lamb kebabs are really good. It's a good mixture of fatty chucks along with lean meat that's done properly. The spices are not overbearing and can be a little grainy so I suggest the restaurant go lighter on the sauce. The chicken heart is a little too well done and doesn't look like the photos. What I do like is that there are items such as lamb tendon which is rarely offered in other BBQ restaurants. The corn is also interesting because they didn't cook the whole cob but instead put individual kernels on the stick. They warm your items using teacup candles which I thought is clever. The restaurant is surprisingly popular among families with young kids as I saw many families came to sit down. The parking in front of the restaurant is small and hard to find but just go to the other side of the McDonald's and you should be able to find some. Overall a decent addition to the Chinese BBQ restaurants in the Bay Area.
