About Beef & Fish
Welcome to Beef & Fish, a Chinese Restaurant located at 5210 7th Ave in Brooklyn, NY. As a Chinese Restaurant, we provide a diverse menu featuring dishes like mala xiang guo (dry hot pot) and double flavor pots, catering to various preferences.
Customers have shared their experiences at Beef & Fish, highlighting both positive and negative aspects. One customer who tried the mala xiang guo found the ingredients to be "ok fresh" and the service to be "good," noting the waitress was efficiently multitasking. However, they also mentioned that the dry hot pot was "on the salty side" and not very spicy despite ordering a medium spice level. An interesting addition they liked was celery, but they were not fond of the sliced onions, which were easy to remove. The fried rice was described as "mushy" but with a good "eggs flavored" taste.
Another dish, the cumin beef, received negative feedback, with the reviewer stating they primarily tasted the plate it was served on. On a positive note, there was a promotion offering a free lemon tea drink with a WeChat post.
The pricing was described as "lowkey Pricy" by one reviewer. A "must-try" recommendation was the 脆烤蹄花 (crispy roasted pig foot).
One group ordered a double flavor pot featuring dry pot bullfrog (干锅美蛙) and tomato fish (番茄鱼 with fresh snakehead fish 鲜活皖鱼). They found the quantity to be large, suitable for five people. The dry pot bullfrog was noted to be approximately $72 for half a pot, which was considered a bit pricey but understandable due to the cost of bullfrog. While one person in the group did not eat bullfrog, their friends enjoyed it. The tomato fish was described as good, with a caution about tiny bones. They also ordered cucumber as a cold dish. The final price for the group came out to be $25 per person. The restaurant was reported to be not crowded at noon on a Saturday, suggesting it might be a good option to try if you live nearby.
Overall, Beef & Fish offers a variety of Chinese dishes, with the dry hot pot and double flavor pots being popular choices. Be aware that the dry hot pot might be salty and not very spicy, and some dishes like the cumin beef received negative feedback. The crispy roasted pig foot is recommended. The pricing is perceived as somewhat high, and a promotion for a free lemon tea with a WeChat post was mentioned. The restaurant appears to be spacious enough for groups and was not crowded during a weekend lunch.

My girlfriend and I came to this place to try their mala xiang guo, dry hot pot. Ingredients was ok fresh, service was good the waitress was also doing phone orders as well as packing deliveries, multitasking and so we feel for her. Dry hot pot was on the salty side, not very spicy even tho we got medium spice. They added celery, which was interesting, I liked it. They also have sliced onions, i didn’t like, but they were easy to pick out therefore not an issue. Fried rice was mushy, but tasted good, eggs flavored. Cumin beef was not good, i only tasted the silver plate that it was on... They were doing promo, the lemon tea drink was free with a wechat post. lowkey Pricy.
Musy-try: 脆烤蹄花(pig foot). We ordered double flavor pot of dry pot bullfrog 干锅美蛙 and tomato fish 番茄鱼(鲜活皖鱼). The quantity is large enough for 5 people. 干锅美蛙 costs approximately $72 for half pot which is a bit pricy, but understandable as bullfrog is not cheap. Personally I do not eat bullfrog, my friends like the taste. The fish is good. Be careful that there are tiny bones in it. We also ordered cucumber for cold dish. The final price is $25 per person. Not crowded at noon on Saturday. Nice to try if you live nearby.
Food was ok, waiter was eating the entire time I was and I tried for about 5 minutes to get his attention for a drink. I wasn't even 1/4 finished with my food when he came up to me and asked if I wanted the check. When I did finally ask for the check, I gave him my debit card and he asked for my ID. The rice I was given was in a small plastic cup and I was also given another incredibly small plastic plate. I don't think these were the actual serving plates judging by seeing what the waiter was eating off of. The couple next to me was asian and they also paid with card and they weren't asked for ID. Felt very insulting when I was nothing but polite. I even gave him over 25% tip after everything that happened. Really a shame cause I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and the food wasn't bad.
Really good. Very traditional Chinese food.
Dishes are awesome. Some dishes are a little pricey. Im giving only three stars cuz once we found a cockroach in our noodles. Although they didn’t charge us for our visit that time, but still, they should have followed better hygiene rules.
