Bar Anticipation

Initially, I searched online for a place that served lobster roll and this place came up, but upon arriving there and browsing the menu, lobster roll was not listed, so perhaps it's only a special on occasion. This place was recommended from our AirBnb host, and the other menu options looked great, so we stayed and had lunch anyway. I enjoyed my Bar A's Brisket Sandwich, which on the menu mentioned came with horseradish sauce and au jus. However, when it came to the table, it did not come with those described condiments, so I had to ask our server for both, and received them quickly with no hassle. We arrived around 11am and it seems this place has it's regulars. The one positioned directly by the entrance was very quick to offer the four women who walked in some cocktails on his tab. We politely declined the drink and we resumed the rest of our visit without any issues from the other guests. If you like that kind of familiar atmosphere, then I would say they seem open and friendly to anyone who is a visiting patron. My friend ordered the sliders and said they were the best she's had in her life. Prices were definitely reasonable.

I chose this bar to celebrate a special day, expecting a fun and festive atmosphere. Instead, I was met with rude and disrespectful staff who clearly couldn’t care less about anyone. They treated us like nothing more than walking dollar signs, and it was obvious that our experience didn’t matter at all. It is just a cold, unpleasant environment. Save your time and money there are plenty of places that actually know how to treat their customers.

Bar anticipation is a terribly owned place. The manager, Tim, has anger issues and doesn’t care about his customers or the people working there. The bouncers are rude and will not hesitate to put their hands on anyone. Any inconveniences that may harm the bars image are brushed off and management will go to any length to make sure of that. The atmosphere is disgusting and there are way better places in Belmar to get food and drinks.

Bar A STOLE MONEY FROM ME. The bartender wrote that I (somehow) left a $100 TIP FOR TWO DRINKS. On what planet is that ethical. If I never checked my card statement I would have never known. this was also the same bartender that I tipped cash to ALL night, and she never even thought of giving change. Probably over $25 in cash tips alone to her. Just let it slide, but makes sense now. NO it’s not just a hold, they processed it as a $100 tip on a $27 purchase. Absolute scam artists. (response) YES WE DID CALL BAR A, SEVERAL TIMES! 9 times in a row to be exact before an answer. Once we finally got a hold of someone we were immediately dismissed off the bat, with them saying they were busy at the moment and it’s not their problem. I’ll be contacting again at Monday (10AM), like I was told. :) Disappointing, love this place but some bartenders definitely have an entitlement issue. So sad you feel like that is a way to respond to a paying customers review

I recently hosted a high school reunion at Bar Anticipation and everyone who attended had a great time. It was the perfect setting to reconnect with old friends and had plenty of space to mingle --there were two other reunions taking place and my group didn't even know. Joanne was a pleasure to work with and made coordinating with the venue a breeze. I visited a few other venues but booked my event at Bar A since there was no deposit or minimum headcount required. The bar staff were friendly and attentive and someone from the venue even helped me put together a large banner display. I highly recommend this venue for any special gathering and I appreciate Bar A (and Joanne) for making my reunion an afternoon to remember.
