About Bao & Noodle

Bao & Noodle is a Chinese restaurant located at 2266 St Claude Ave, New Orleans, LA 70117, USA. They can be contacted at (504) 272-0004 or +1 504-272-0004.

Bao & Noodle has transitioned to a new, well-regarded space that customers describe as fantastic, even comparing it favorably to New York City Chinese cuisine. The decor is noted as nothing fancy, suggesting a casual environment.

The service style can vary. Initial feedback mentioned a mostly self-service approach where customers get their own napkins, water, and order at the counter, with a suggestion for more smiles from the staff. However, later reviews of the new space highlight friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable servers.

A key feature of Bao & Noodle is their focus on fresh, made-to-order noodles. Popular dishes include the Dan Dan noodles, described as dense and chewy, and the lamb noodle dish, featuring softer, doughier noodles. Both are praised for their deliciousness. Customers also rave about the daily specials, such as sweet and sour spareribs with a pickled cucumber cilantro topping and shrimp and pork pan-fried dumplings, both described as stellar. The daily buns, dumplings, or bao are also consistently recommended as top-notch and reliable choices.

While one early review mentioned the food being flavorful but very salty, more recent feedback emphasizes the overall deliciousness and quality of the meals. For local users in New Orleans seeking authentic Chinese noodle dishes, dumplings, and bao in a casual setting with friendly service (in the new space), Bao & Noodle is highly recommended.

The food was very good, full of flavor but very salty. Ambiance was nice. I can't say much about the service as it is mostly self-service (grab your own napkin/water, glass, and order food at the counter). A smile or two might have helped, but amen.

Edited 11/30/19 to add that the new space is fantastic!!!! Congrats!!!! The closest thing to NYC Chinese in Nola. Nothing fancy in terms of decor, but the server was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. The meal was delicious. We tried two appetizers that were the daily special.. Sweet and sour spareribs with the most amazing pickly cucumber cilantro concoction on top followed by shrimp and pork pan fried dumplings. Both were stellar. For dinner we split Dan Dan noodles and the lamb noodle dish. Both were fresh noodles cut and made to order. The Dan Dan noodles were dense and chewy, the noodles on the Dan Dan dish were more soft and doughy. Really delicious and plenty of good for $40. Updated to add: Still top notch. You will never be disappointed with ordering their daily bun, dumpling or bao either.

Cozy spot to grab some excellent bao. I also had the Dan Dan noodles and my boyfriend had the pork belly. Overall the food was good but the bao was definitely the star of the show. I enjoyed the texture of the noodles however the sauce (under the bed of noodles) didn't have the depth of flavor I was hoping for after trying the bao. Overall it was a good meal. I will be back for more bao!

Food was delicious! I love the Louisiana twist this Asian Fusion restaurant creates. Everything was so yummy, will go again for sure! Ask for the Tea Egg as an extra (not listed on menu)- it is devine!

The was better than expected. The atmosphere was great and homey. Definitely would recommend this place for a cool date or a get together with friends. Byob is always cool as well. The waitress was cool polite and down to earth.
