While categorized on the platform as a Chinese restaurant, customer reviews indicate that Bangkok 96 specializes in Thai food. First-time visitors have been highly impressed, with one reviewer noting that everything they ordered – chicken and beef Pad Thai, chicken fried rice, spicy crab wontons, and hot and sour soup with a side of spring rolls – was hot and fresh. They even declared the chicken fried rice as the best they had ever tasted and would definitely order the flavorful Pad Thai again, praising the generous portions.

Another reviewer on their very first visit described their experience as "absolutely marvelous" with "so much great food." They raved about several appetizers: the Crispy Rolls (ground chicken mixed with bean thread noodles and onions wrapped in rice paper and deep-fried, served with cucumber garlic sauce), which they deemed "outstanding" and a "must-try"; the Spicy Crab Wontons (chili paste cream cheese with crab meat wrapped in wonton skins, served with sweet & sour sauce), noted for the "perfect heat" for spice lovers; and the Chicken Satay (chicken skewers mixed with a coconut milk curry batter, deep-fried, and served with peanut sauce and cucumber sauce), which they found uniquely addictive, especially with the peanut sauce.

This reviewer also highlighted the "Big Tom Kha" soup, priced at an excellent value of $8 for a quart, packed with a "mega amount" of delicious chicken, making it perfect for sharing. They expressed gratitude to Ms. Nora for the excellent care they received and mentioned their eagerness to return to try dishes other than the appetizers.

The service model includes ordering at a counter, with the option to either sit down and have the food brought to the table or to take it out. Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback, Bangkok 96 Restaurant is a fantastic choice for local users in Dearborn seeking authentic and delicious Thai food, characterized by generous portions and excellent service.

The dine-in experience that I had was amazing through the food. You order up front, choose your table and when your food is ready they bring it out to you bagged up in to-go containers. I had the crispy duck in brown sauce with veggies and white rice. It was, phenomenal and I WILL be back!!

I really wanted to like the meal that I had at Bangkok 96. Having traveled to Thailand and Laos many times, I found their menu had items I had previously eaten overseas. My favorite dish, ban kaprao mu, is extremely hard to find here in Michigan. When I saw that Bangkok 96 offered a dish with a similar name and Thai basil, I couldn't resist. However, what I received was just not very good. The menu item states there is green pepper in the dish, and honestly that was spot on. There could have been two or three sliced peppers and very little pork. There was no Thai basil anywhere in the dish that I could recognize. The sauce was bland. There were no Thai chilies, the very backbone of Thai cooking in the dish. No garlic, no onion, I couldn't taste ginger at all. Literally I think I had a pork green pepper soup. I don't think I'll be going back. I really wanted to like this place, but I cannot recommend it for traditional Thai food.
