About Bang Bang Noodles

Bang Bang Noodles, located at 9355 Culver Blvd in Culver City, CA, specializes in hand-pulled noodles made fresh. While the concept has generated anticipation, customer reviews offer a mixed perspective on the execution.

One customer who had high expectations found their experience to be "underwhelming." They ordered four of the beef Szechuan noodles and described the sauce as "one-dimensional" with excessive oil and a lack of complex spice, noting only heat without balance. The dumplings were also a "major disappointment," overpowered by an overwhelming amount of red wine vinegar that masked any potential flavor in the filling.

Another reviewer, identifying as Chinese with experience eating hand-pulled noodles, suggested that their expectations might be higher for a Culver City establishment. While acknowledging that Bang Bang Noodles could be a "GREAT introduction" for those unfamiliar with this type of noodle, they had critiques for the Dry Spicy Cumin Beef. These included a perceived lack of overall flavor, a noodle texture that was too soft and sticky, and a smaller-than-expected portion size for the $18 price. This reviewer drew a comparison to Very Fresh Noodles in New York's Chelsea Market, citing better texture and portion sizes there.

Despite these criticisms, the latter reviewer still recommended trying Bang Bang Noodles for those curious about hand-pulled noodles, cautioning against potential overhype from platforms like TikTok and aiming to set realistic expectations. Information regarding the restaurant's specific environment, services beyond dine-in, or any current promotional offers is not detailed in the provided reviews. Potential customers are encouraged to try the experience for themselves, keeping in mind the varied feedback received.

I had high expectations but unfortunately, my experience was underwhelming. While the concept is great—hand-pulled noodles made fresh—the execution left a lot to be desired. We ordered four of the beef Szechuan noodles. The sauce was one-dimensional, with an overwhelming amount of oil but little depth of flavor. Instead of a rich, complex spice, all we got was heat with no balance. The dumplings were a major disappointment. Instead of a balanced, flavorful bite, they were completely overpowered by an overwhelming amount of red wine vinegar. The acidity drowned out any potential depth in the filling, making it nearly impossible to taste anything else. Rather than enhancing the dish, the vinegar turned what should have been a delicate, savory experience into a one-note, overly sour mess.

Okay, so I really wanted to love this place because I'm a huge fan of hand-pulled noodles. However, as a Chinese person who's had a lot of hand-pulled noodles in her life, maybe my expectations are too high for a place like Culver City. Don't get me wrong. I think overall for people who have never had Chinese hand-pulled noodles before, this is a GREAT introduction to it. I highly recommend still trying these out. However, I got the Dry Spicy Cumin Beef and I do have some critiques for the dish. First of all, I felt like there could have been more flavor to the dish. Second of all, the texture of the noodles felt a little too soft and they kind of stuck together. Dare I say... it's not as bouncy as the other hand-pulled noodles I tried? Finally, for the price of $18, I expected a bigger portion size I was expecting more noodles in that bowl. I think comparatively speaking if anyone has ever had Very Fresh Noodles at Chelsea Market in New York, I think Very Fresh Noodles by far has better texture and portion size. Don't let this review deter you though! I do think TikTok tends to overhype certain restaurants. I just want to set the right expectations. I would still highly recommend trying out this place for yourself if you are curious about hand-pulled noodles.

Got to meet the owner himself when we went. Noodles were thick and chewy with so much spring and bounciness and the lamb flavored one was soo good. My boyfriend got to spicy option and he enjoyed it. We would come back!! Check this place out if ur ever stop by

Such a cool space. It was cool to watch the workers hand pull the noodles at the display window (wish I had gotten a picture of video). My friend and I shared the Szechuan Garlic Beef dry noodles and the Szechuan Garlic Chicken (per the cashier’s suggestion) soup noodles. Both were delicious, but the girl at the register had it right. The Szechuan garlic chicken soup noodles were bomb!!! I would definitely get those again if I had to choose. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Food came out quick. Definitely want to try more on their menu next time!

Most items can be made vegan, garlic noodles were the best and the soy crumbles were very filling and a great meat substitute.
