Based on customer reviews, a notable feature of Bamboo House appears to be the generous quantity of food served. One customer specifically mentioned that the portions were large, particularly when ordering a dinner combo with vegetable lo mein. They even noted that the amount of food was so substantial that they were unable to finish it, suggesting that Bamboo House could be a suitable option for those with a hearty appetite seeking value in terms of portion size. Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, stating that the food was reasonably priced in addition to being good.
The menu at Bamboo House seems to include a range of popular Chinese-American dishes, including combo meals that offer a variety of options. One customer specifically mentioned ordering sesame chicken, Szechuan chicken, and General Tso chicken from a combo menu, along with mei fun, and reported that all the food was good. This indicates that Bamboo House offers familiar and well-liked Chinese dishes that have been positively received in terms of taste.
However, it is crucial to consider the entirety of the customer feedback to gain a balanced perspective on what Bamboo House offers. Several reviews express negative experiences, particularly concerning the service provided. One review explicitly advises readers to "believe the negative reviews and go elsewhere," indicating a significant level of dissatisfaction with their experience.
Another customer who visited Bamboo House for the first time, after reading prior reviews, expressed regret for not heeding the negative feedback. This suggests that the issues raised in other reviews might be consistent and impactful on the overall customer experience.
A significant point of concern raised in the reviews pertains to the individual taking orders and serving food. One customer described this person as "absolutely horrendous." They recounted an interaction where their husband inquired about the wait time for the food and was met with an unwelcoming response, being told to "go sit down and don't come here." Despite this initial interaction, they chose to wait for their order.
The same reviewer shared a further negative experience when attempting to place an additional order. Their toddler accompanied them to the counter, and the staff member reportedly ordered the child back to the table, expressing concern about the child's hands soiling the counter, despite the reviewer's assurance that the child's hands were clean. Following this, the staff member allegedly refused to take the additional order and returned to eating her own food. This account raises serious concerns about the customer service at Bamboo House and the way patrons are treated.
Due to these strongly negative reviews regarding customer service, potential patrons should be aware of the possibility of encountering similar issues. While the food quantity and taste have received some positive mentions, the reported negative interactions with staff could significantly impact the overall dining experience.
Information regarding the environment or ambiance of Bamboo House for dine-in customers is not provided in these reviews. The focus of the feedback is primarily on the food and the service encountered during ordering and pickup. Therefore, it is difficult to assess the atmosphere of the restaurant itself.
Similarly, details about other services that Bamboo House might offer, such as delivery or catering, are not mentioned in the provided reviews. The interactions described seem to be centered around ordering at the counter and waiting for the food to be prepared.
Promotional information is also absent from the customer feedback. There are no mentions of discounts, special offers, or combo deals beyond the fact that combo meals are available. If you are interested in knowing about any current promotions, it would be best to contact Bamboo House directly.
In conclusion, Bamboo House in Newport, Rhode Island, appears to offer large portions of Chinese food at reasonable prices, with some customers finding the taste to be good. However, there are significant concerns raised in multiple reviews regarding the customer service, with specific instances of rude and unprofessional behavior reported. Potential customers should weigh the positive feedback on food quantity and taste against the negative feedback concerning service when considering Bamboo House. For further information about their menu, services (like dine-in or delivery), and any potential promotions, please contact Bamboo House directly at (401) 846-0251 or +1 401-846-0251.

Customer Reviews
Quantity was large. We ordered dinner combo with veg low main. The portions were big. We could not finish the food. If you are really hungry go for this place. We ordered sesame chicken, Schezewan chicken, General Tso chicken from combo menu. We also order mei fun. All food was good. Reasonably priced. lady in the cash register had thick accent and at times it was hard to understand.
Believe the negative reviews and go elsewhere. I read the reviews before going because we were visiting Newport for the first time. I wish I believed them. The lady that takes the orders and serves the food is absolutely horrendous! She told my husband to "go sit down and don't come here" when he wanted to know how long the food may take to be ready. We ignored that and waited for our food. I decided to place an extra order to bring to our hotel and my toddler followed me to the counter and she ordered her back to the table because she didn't want her hands to soil the counter(she had clean hands). I told her she had clean hands and was okay to be with me. She refused to take my order and went to sit down to continue eating her food. We found another Chinese cuisine place 2 minutes from there.
I came to this location on my lunch break, Tuesday, 16APR2024. I ordered the large hot and sour soup, 2 vegetable rolls, and the sesame tofu for $24.10 total after tax. I am an avid enjoyer of Chinese food, so I can tell when I get some incredible Chinese food and some generic, bland, frozen food. Bamboo house has delivered quite possibly the best Chinese food I have ever had at a price point to justify their generous portions! The food was SCORCHING hot in temperature, well seasoned, and brought out in only 15 minutes. I was absolutely amazed by how tasty this food is. The veggie rolls were freshly fried with the thin crisp of a golden, flaky crust encapsulating juicy, hot veggies. Sesame Tofu was textured and firm (my personal favorite) and well adorned with sweet and sour sauce, topped with crunchy sesame seeds. The hot and sour soup came with those crunchy won ton chips, and had the perfect ratio of egg, vegetables and nice flavor; not too spicy but not watery. Couldn’t recommend Bamboo House enough for their incredible food, at a reasonable price that was freshly made to order in 15 minutes or less.
Don’t believe the negative reviews! First time getting pick up. Ms. Lucy was quick, to the point, and nailed my order and pick up time (10 minutes from phone call to take-out). Will 100% be ordering from here again! General Tso chicken, pork fried rice (no onions), and egg drop soup is perfect!!!
The store setup and general feel is like any other take out, but the people are awesome. It's affordable too, and I love the options. You know how you get say a general tso someplace and 3/4 of it is rice? Here you can order a container of it for $10, just the meat and get a small rice. Portions are great.
