About Bamboo House
Introducing Bamboo House, a Chinese restaurant situated at 7855 N Sam Houston Pkwy E, Humble, TX 77396, USA. While based in the United States, we wish to share an overview of what Bamboo House offers to our local USese audience who appreciate diverse Chinese culinary experiences.
Bamboo House is known for serving incredibly generous portions, with one reviewer describing their noodle bowl as the largest they had ever seen. The restaurant offers ample indoor seating and a casual ambiance, making it a comfortable spot for various occasions. Customers have also noted the fast service provided by the staff.
A unique feature of Bamboo House is its open kitchen concept, where diners can watch the chefs, particularly the preparation of the roast duck behind a glass wall, adding an element of visual entertainment to the dining experience.
Featured Dishes and Customer Experiences:
- Roast Peking Duck: Considered a highlight, the Peking Duck is served with duck sauce and a subtly sweet plum sauce. The duck skin is reportedly well-prepared.
- House Special Noodles: Highly recommended, these are described as flat, hand-pulled, chewy, and doughy thick noodles served with a garlic sauce and peanut crumbles. The dish is presented in two separate large bowls – one with noodles and sauce, and another with vegetables and meat (beef), which the staff then mixes at the table as a mini presentation. The portion size is noted to be enormous, potentially enough for four people.
- Mapo Tofu: Praised as amazing by at least one reviewer.
- Honey Pork: Another dish with a very large serving size, described as rich and not overly sweet, making it good for taking home leftovers.
- Beef with Vegetables: This dish received a less favorable review, with comments on the flavorless vegetables having an undercooked texture and too much cornstarch.
- Mushroom Chicken: Described as "not bad."
- Duck Soup and Salt & Pepper Shrimp: Mentioned as good appetizers, although not pictured in the reviews.
Overall, Bamboo House is regarded as a worthy dining experience, particularly for groups due to the large servings. While one reviewer mentioned it might not be the absolute best for every dish, the generous portions and certain specialties like the Peking Duck and House Special Noodles make it a compelling option, even for those willing to travel a bit. One customer even drove 45 minutes and waited an hour on Thanksgiving Day, primarily for the Peking Duck.

Huge portions, biggest noodle bowl I’ve ever seen! Plenty of indoor seating, casual ambience. Fast service. You can watch the chef prepare the roast duck 🦆 behind the open glass wall. We ordered the roast Peking duck (pretty good, comes with duck sauce and plum sauce which was subtly sweet, the duck skin was done well), house special noodles, mushroom chicken (not bad), and beef with vegetables (vegetables tasted flavorless and had the texture of being undercooked with too much cornstarch. I recommend the roast duck and House Special Noodles - they were flat and hand pulled chewy, doughy thick noodles with garlic sauce and peanut crumbles. They bring the noodles to you in 2 separate bowls - 1 bowl with just noodles and sauce and 1 bowl with the vegetables and meat (beef). Each bowl was so huge that we thought the 2nd bowl was for another table, another order, but they ended up pouring the 2nd bowl into the first one making an even larger portion size than what we originally expected! The staff mixes it for you as a mini presentation. :)
Food so good we forgot to take pictures before eating. Definitely a great place to go with family or a small group of friends. This place is regarded as the best Peking Duck in Houston. I wouldn’t say it’s the best, but for me, certainly worth the 45 minute drive and 1 hour wait on Thanksgiving day. Aside from the duck, the beef special noodles was a huge serving, enough for 4 people, and the Mapo Tofu is amazing. The honey pork was another huge serving which I brought home half to was later and was very rich and not too sweet. The duck soup (not pictured) made for a good opener along with the salt and pepper shrimp (not pictured). I am personally not a fan of shrimp in general and I had several pieces. While not the best place to eat most of these dishes, it was still a worthy experience with large servings perfect for a group of people. Aside from the long wait, no other complaints.
Really great Chinese food, we enjoyed everything we ordered. The peking duck was outstanding, and we tried the lamb bones dish, not for everyone but our large party all thought it was delish. The boiled fish (spicy) was on point also.
Portions are decent, and the service is good. I really enjoy the spicy chicken and pork intestines here. However, the spicy chicken could be improved by reducing the sugar and adding more Sichuan peppercorns to enhance the aroma and flavor. That said, be cautious with your belongings. The restaurant is near the airport, so there’s a lot of luggage around, and it might attract thieves. They have signs and staff reminding customers to keep valuables and luggage with them. The parking lot can be busy, but there’s usually space available. Overall, it’s a good spot for Chinese dishes, but stay vigilant with your items.
Bunch of us were craving for authentic chinese foods around the Humble area which is nowhere near Chinatown. And we stumbled across this restaurant based on its high rating and positive Google review. And boy, it certainly doesn't disappoint!!! The foods are awesome and delicious. It is authentic and actually better in our opinion. The service is great and the servers there are attentive. The owner actually came out and greeted us and other customers. He even explained his foods and told us how he picked his ingredients and how they cooked their foods with love and high standard. We are very surprised to find such great and authentic chinese restaurant on this side of town. Super proud of them and will definitely stop by every time I fly into IAH George Bush airport... hahaha!!!
