About Baby Cafe Allston

Baby Cafe Allston is a Chinese restaurant located at 128 Brighton Ave, Allston, MA 02134, USA. They can be contacted at (617) 870-7111 or +1 617-870-7111.

Baby Cafe Allston offers a distinct Hong Kong-style comfort food experience, setting it apart within Allston's Chinese food scene. While sharing similarities with typical Chinese cuisine, Hong Kong food features unique dishes with European influences.

The restaurant boasts a casual yet stylish ambiance, described as clean and cozy with a good vibe. It has become a frequently revisited spot for many, ranking among the top Hong Kong-style options in Boston.

Several dishes have received high praise from customers. The Hainan chicken is a go-to favorite, consistently described as flavorful and tender with a good balance of chicken fat and meat. The Salt & Pepper Shishamo is another standout, noted for its good quality, crispiness, and flavorful roe. The Beef Stew Rice is also well-received, featuring tender beef and satisfying tendon pieces.

While some dishes like the Baked Pork Chop Rice (noted as somewhat dry with a basic tomato sauce) and the HK Style Butter Toast (plain on its own but satisfying with condensed milk) received mixed feedback, the overall consensus is positive.

A signature item is the Iced Baby Milk Tea, which comes with milk tea frozen into a cute character shape, effectively keeping the drink cold without diluting its flavor.

In summary, Baby Cafe Allston provides a solid and enjoyable Hong Kong-style Chinese dining experience with a comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommended dishes include the Hainan chicken, Salt & Pepper Shishamo, and the unique Iced Baby Milk Tea. It's considered a worthwhile addition to the neighborhood and a place many look forward to returning to.

Casual yet stylish spot that serves solid HK food. Allston's Chinese food scene is solid, but Baby Cafe fills a niche with its Hong Kong-style comfort food. While HK cuisine might not be worlds apart from the usual Chinese fare, there are definitely some dishes with European influences here that make it unique. I swung by twice for lunch, and despite its low ratings, they had some good dishes. Couple dishes that I enjoyed were the Salt & Pepper Shishamo and the Beef Stew Rice. It’s rare to see Shishamo at a Chinese restaurant, but the quality of the fish was quite good - crispy and packed with flavorful roe. The stewed beef was also very tender and I liked that they kept the bits of tendon to add a satisfying, jelly-like texture. There were, however, some dishes that I thought were just okay - Baked Pork Chop Rice and the HK Style Butter Toast. The pork chop was on the dry side, and the basic tomato sauce didn’t do much to elevate the dish. The butter toast had not much to write home about on its own—it was dense and didn’t have much flavor—but paired with condensed milk, it went from plain to satisfying in one swoop. As for their signature Iced Baby Milk Tea, it was a playful surprise: they serve it with milk tea frozen into the shape of a little character, which keeps the drink cool without diluting the flavor as it melts. Overall, a solid addition to the neighborhood. Would pop in for lunch now and then.

I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times with my friends, and even my picky eater friends keep talking about this place! The Hainan chicken is our go-to dish, always flavorful and tender, they have really good balance of chicken fat and meat. (But tbh everything we tried so far were all good) I also love their egg puff and Hong Kong milk tea—absolute perfection…😭 The atmosphere is clean, cozy, and such a vibe. I’ve never revisited a restaurant this often, and it’s easily one of the top 3 Hong Kong-style spots in Boston. Highly recommend!😋😋

I don't normally write reviews but I had to for Baby Cafe. This place really hit the spot and it felt as if I was in Hong Kong again. Friends and I came here to grab a bite when I was visiting and I'm glad we found this gem. The food was great, the wait was not long, and the atmosphere was bustling but also comforting. The staff were nice and helpful so no complaints there! They do have a small parking lot if the front but it shouldn't be too hard to find parking nearby. If you're ever in Allston, give this place a shot!

Passion fruit green tea was worth the price considering the size. We ordered the Beef w/ string beans, fukien fried rice, and salt and pepper shishamo. The beef and string beans was very flavorful while the string beans maintained their crunchiness and it came out very quickly. The fukien fried rice was good. The salt and pepper shishamo was something I liked and my partner was indifferent abt it so it could be an acquired taste. Overall a good experience as it was very spacious with plenty of seats! Chill atmosphere. 😀 👍

Went to Baby Cafe in Allston for lunch on Friday, atmosphere is great and love what they done to the place. Service was quick as it was not crazy busy However food was okay. The French Toast inside was too thick and doughy. Baked pork chop rice was a bit different than what I was used to in HK style. Milk tea flavor was pretty good.
