About AweSum DimSum
Welcome to AweSum DimSum, a Cantonese restaurant located at 160 E 23rd St, New York, NY 10010, USA. You can contact us at (646) 998-3313 or our mobile number +1 646-998-3313.
As a Cantonese restaurant in New York City, AweSum DimSum offers a modern and quick take on the traditional dim sum experience. It has adopted a Japanese self-ordering and self-serving model, allowing customers to order via tablet and pick up their food at the counter after payment.
The restaurant environment is described as clean and modern, with a minimalistic design that allows for compact seating. The focus is on efficiency and freshness, as dishes are steamed fresh and served quickly.
The service model is a key feature of AweSum DimSum. It operates on a counter order style where customers place their orders on a tablet, pay at the counter, and then pick up their food. This self-service approach contributes to the quick turnaround time and is considered a cool concept for fresh dim sum, particularly appealing to those seeking quick bites.
Based on customer reviews, highlights of the menu include their house signature dumplings (shrimp, squid, and chive), the watercress shrimp dumplings, the spicy Shu Mai, and the soup dumplings (xiao long bao). Some dishes that received less favorable feedback were the stuffed sticky rice in leaves, the steamed pork ribs, and the chicken feet.
AweSum DimSum seems to target a younger demographic or those who prefer quick and efficient dim sum service over extended yam-cha sessions with tea service. While it may not cater to those looking for a leisurely experience, it prioritizes speed and fresh preparation.
Currently, no specific promotional information is available in the provided reviews. However, the positive feedback on several dumpling varieties and the efficient, modern approach suggest a worthwhile experience for those seeking a quick and fresh Cantonese dim sum meal in New York City.

Customer Reviews
We ordered a ton of dishes, so the highlights and lowlights will be featured instead. Highlights include their house signature dumplings (shrimp, squid, and chive), the watercress shrimp dumplings, the spicy Shu Mai, the soup dumplings (xiao long Bao). The lowlights were the stuffed sticky rice in leaves, the steamed pork ribs, and the chicken feet. The restaurant is counter order style, but you just order on a tablet and go up to the counter to pay and receive your food. The restaurant is clean, modern, and pretty quick considering how everything was steamed fresh. We weren’t sure about the counter style ordering or if it’s a New York signature, but, it’s a cool concept for quick and fresh dim sum. Would definitely come back here again.
This Cantonese restaurant revolutionizes the traditional yam-cha experience by adopting the Japanese self-ordering and self-serving "modus operandi." The result is very compact seating using minimalistic designs, yet the quality of food is not compromised. The intended experience, of course, is not for those who desire sips of great teas so as to kill a couple of hours. However, it is sure that the target customers are youngsters who prefer quick bites over extended yam-cha sessions.
I always get nervous when I see “casual dim sum” as a concept but I have to say this place does it quite well. The place itself is clean and well lit - tables are available and you can either order via tablet or at the counter. Lots of options to choose from both classic and more traditional items - everything tastes great and came in good portion sizes for the price. Is pretty true to the food itself and comes out pretty quickly as well. Would definitely recommend for a quick bite/experience!
The restaurant looks nice and clean, I liked the way they deliver the dumplings but their other dishes were not as good. The chicken in the photo was very bad, it was more skin than meat and as for my friend's dish, she ordered noodles with pork and the pork seemed to fly by, there was almost nothing in it.
This is their takeout branch at 4008 skillman long island city, Queens. NY and only take out. My recommendation or my favorite will be these 3, #1 shrimp porridge, I hate porridge but this one got me hooked, 3 giant shrimp balls and a slow cooked smooth porridge. #2 mango pomelo dessert 6 star. #3 Phoenix Shrimp, chives Dumpling sticky rice and lots more to explore.
