About Atlas Kitchen

Atlas Kitchen is a Chinese restaurant located at 258 W 109th St in the Upper Manhattan area of New York City. Situated conveniently near landmarks such as the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and within a reasonable distance from the MET Cloisters, Atlas Kitchen serves both local residents and visitors seeking Chinese cuisine. The restaurant offers both takeout and dine-in services, catering to different preferences.

Recent customer reviews present a somewhat divided perspective on Atlas Kitchen. One reviewer who ordered takeout shared a negative experience, specifically with two dishes. The stir-fried pork trotters were criticized for containing a "pitifully few" amount of trotters, with the majority of the dish consisting of chili peppers. The fish with tofu was also deemed "pretty mediocre," with an unusual "grainy" texture of the fish being a significant issue. Furthermore, this reviewer noted the seemingly unusual practice of having to purchase rice separately, which contributed to their overall impression of "very poor value for money." This feedback suggests potential concerns regarding the portion sizes of certain ingredients relative to others, the quality and texture of some dishes, and the overall pricing structure.

In contrast, another reviewer, who had waited two years to revisit Atlas Kitchen, expressed a much more positive sentiment. They described the restaurant as "lovely" and highlighted its convenient location near St. John the Divine and the MET Cloisters, making it a "perfect spot for fresh hot soup and veggies along with heaping servings of animal protein." This suggests that Atlas Kitchen may excel in certain types of dishes, particularly their soups and vegetable-based options, and offers generous portions of protein. This reviewer also noted that while Atlas Kitchen handles "allot of take out," the restaurant seating area is "clean and well maintained," indicating a pleasant environment for those choosing to dine in. Their positive experience led them to state, "We will be back," signifying satisfaction with their return visit.

Considering these two recent reviews, Atlas Kitchen appears to offer a mixed experience for its customers. While one customer encountered issues with the proportion of ingredients in a takeout dish, the quality of another, and the value for money, another found the restaurant to be a "lovely" spot with fresh and hearty food and a clean dining area. The positive reviewer's mention of "heaping servings of animal protein" contrasts sharply with the other's description of "pitifully few trotters," suggesting potential inconsistencies between dishes or changes over time.

For local users in Upper Manhattan considering Atlas Kitchen, it would be prudent to weigh these contrasting experiences. If you are looking for fresh soup and vegetables with generous protein portions in a clean environment, Atlas Kitchen might be a good option, especially given its convenient location near cultural landmarks. However, if you are considering specific dishes like the stir-fried pork trotters or the fish with tofu, or if value for money is a primary concern, the negative review suggests that caution might be warranted.

Atlas Kitchen is located at 258 W 109th St, New York, NY 10025, and can be contacted at (646) 928-0522 or +1 646-928-0522. Local residents or visitors to the area may wish to call the restaurant directly to inquire about their current menu, preparation methods, and pricing, especially regarding the inclusion of rice with certain dishes.

In conclusion, Atlas Kitchen in Upper Manhattan offers both takeout and dine-in services and is located near prominent attractions. Customer reviews present differing opinions, with one praising the fresh soup, vegetables, and generous protein portions in a clean setting, while another expressed disappointment with the proportion of ingredients in a takeout dish, the quality of another, and the overall value. Potential customers may find it beneficial to consider these recent experiences and perhaps inquire further about specific dishes or pricing when making their decision.

Local users seeking a Chinese restaurant in the vicinity of St. John the Divine and the MET Cloisters might find Atlas Kitchen to be a conveniently located option, but it is advisable to be aware of the mixed feedback regarding certain dishes and value for money.

I ordered takeout — stir-fried pork trotters. There were pitifully few trotters; it was mostly chili peppers. The fish with tofu was also pretty mediocre — the texture of the fish was grainy, which was weird. You even have to buy rice separately. Overall, very poor value for money.

I waited two years to revisit this lovely restaurant. Around the corner from St John Divine and down the road from MET cloisters It’s a perfect spot for fresh hot soup and veggies along with heaping servings of animal protein. They do allot of take out however the restaurant seating is clean and well maintained. We will be back.

The food was fairly good, but bland (with one exception - the clams actually had a decent amount of spice), and service was inattentive and barely pleasant. The space could use some attention. I'd eat here if I lived nearby, but wouldn't make the trip uptown for it.

This is one of my local go-to spots. I frequently order takeout from Atlas Kitchen and in my latest order, their sliced beef in red chili soup had a large bug in it. (As pictured.) I was obviously horrified, and contacted the restaurant. I left my contact to a server and asked for the owner to reach out but they've been radio silent. In addition to the obvious hygienic issue, I'm disappointed in the restaurant that they don't care enough to call back a regular.

Just had an unforgettable dining experience at Atlas Kitchen in the Upper West Side, right near Columbia University. This place is a true gem! 💎 The restaurant’s massive space and stunning decor are inspired by mountains and the sea, making it a feast for the eyes before you even take your first bite. The ambiance is just perfect for a special night out or a cozy meal with friends or a big party. Atlas Kitchen serves up a mix of classic Chinese, Hunanese, and Sichuan cuisines, and every dish is a work of art. From the vibrant flavors to the exquisite presentation, it’s clear they put a lot of love into their food. 🌶️🍜 I highly recommend checking out this spot if you’re in NYC. We ordered ⤵️ Sliced Pork belly with garlic sauce Spicy wood ear duo Tender poached chicken with green chili sauce Stewed chicken with ginseng soup Stewed spare rib with dry long bean Slow braised ribbon fish in brown sauce Fried rice ball with fresh fruits Black salted egg custard bun Pinot Noir Follow @spinx17 for more NTC food recs!
