Asian Legend

Asian Legend is one of my favourite restaurants of all time, so I was sad to hear that they were closing most of their locations to focus on their frozen foods. My sisters and I came here for Christmas Day, with reservations for lunch (dinner was fully booked), and we ordered most of our favourite dishes, but it was our first time trying the chili pork rice cakes and the mango pudding. The chili pork was too spicy for us 🥵 I personally would stick with the original flavour or the pickled veggies and pork one. The mango pudding didn't have evaporated milk on it, and instead it was condensed milk, so it was too sweet. Otherwise, everything was absolutely delicious. I love northern Chinese dim sum and Peking duck, and Asian Legend has both, so I love coming here. The service here is also perfectly fine; not sure why other reviews said they got no/bad service. The only thing we did notice was that the guy who came out with our food was kinda messy with it and was spilling our soup/sauce on the table.

New location, same great food. Sad to see the other locations close but happy this one opened near my parents place. Tested some favorites with guests from Japan. They love the variety of small dishes and the decor. Food is as good as the former Finch & Leslie location. The C & C and Oomomo in the same Plaza make a nice stop after som shopping

Asian Legend has been around for more than 3 decades with 5 locations total across Ontario. There used to be 1 in St. Catherines and 1 in Vaughan. With a change in business focus, only 2 out of the 5 locations will be operational after the end of this month, September 2024. This location and the one on downtown Spadina will remain operational. We are saddened as this has been one of the restaurant chains our family frequents across the GTA. It’s a trusted brand that serves delicious Northern Chinese Cuisine. The food is consistently good. Every time we dined in, we were always treated and serviced well. We also do take outs occasionally. They have partitioned VIP rooms for your special events or celebrations. One just has to meet their minimum bill spent before taxes. You can call them ahead for further details. Personally, we have used those VIP rooms a lot in the past. It shields your party from the bustling main dining area. They do take reservations. You can pay either cash, debit or credit cards.

The taste of the food is incredibly strange! Some are particularly salty (beef soup), some are particularly sweet (hint: the honey sauce ribs are as sweet as candied haws! 😅) Anyway, none of the dishes were delicious! It was just terrible! And the service was incredibly slow. When we went in, there was no one around, but then several tables of people from nearby round tables came over, and they all got their dishes served later than us, feeling like they forgot about us! Damn!

I called the VIP room for lunch but the manager said the min. payment is $600 before taxes to book a room with 2 tables. The manager texted message me over 30 pictures, showing the dining room setup, the VIP room setup and the menus so I can estimate the amount we would spend before booking the VIP room.
