About Asian Chef

Welcome to Asian Chef, a Chinese restaurant located at 3553 1/2 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90807, USA. As a part of the local Chinese Restaurant category, Asian Chef aims to provide a range of Chinese culinary options for the Long Beach community. You can contact them at (562) 424-4284 or via mobile at +1 562-424-4284.

Based on recent customer feedback available online, here is an objective overview of what you might expect from Asian Chef:

Food Quality and Flavors:

One customer who visited an hour before closing reported a positive experience with the food, specifically mentioning the "crispy chicken" as being juicy and well-seasoned without excessive salt. They also enjoyed the egg drop soup, describing it as delicious even without chili sauce. This suggests that Asian Chef has the potential to deliver flavorful and well-prepared dishes. However, this positive feedback was from a visit during a slow period, which might influence the consistency of food preparation.

In contrast, another customer had a significantly negative experience regarding the preparation and handling of their order. They ordered a chicken bowl and, upon receiving it, requested extra sauce for an additional charge. However, upon returning to work, they found their bowl to be excessively drenched in teriyaki sauce, despite not having added the extra sauce they paid for. Attempts to resolve this issue by contacting the restaurant were unsuccessful, with the customer being told "ITS NOTHING WE Can do." This indicates a potential lack of attention to detail in order preparation and a concerning approach to customer service when errors occur.

Service and Professionalism:

The second review also commented on the owner, describing her as a "sweet lady" but ultimately "unprofessional" due to the handling of the over-sauced order. Charging for extra sauce and then failing to address a significant error in the main order suggests inconsistencies in service standards and a lack of effective problem resolution. The first reviewer's comment, "I hope you receive the help you need. (They're hiring right now)," might subtly hint at potential staffing issues that could impact service quality.

Environment and Atmosphere:

The first review noted that the restaurant was "quiet very slow" due to the late hour of the visit (an hour before closing). This suggests that the atmosphere might vary depending on the time of day and customer traffic. During off-peak hours, it could be a more relaxed and less crowded environment. However, there is no information available regarding the ambiance during busier periods. As a local Chinese restaurant, it likely offers a casual and functional setting for dining or waiting for takeout orders.

Features and Potential Offerings:

Based on the reviews, Asian Chef offers dishes like crispy chicken and egg drop soup. The menu likely includes a broader range of standard Chinese-American fare, such as rice bowls, noodle dishes, and various meat and vegetable preparations. The fact that they are currently hiring, as mentioned by one reviewer, suggests potential growth or a need to maintain staffing levels to meet demand. It is reasonable to assume they offer takeout services, given the nature of most Chinese restaurants in this category. Delivery options might also be available through third-party platforms, but this is not explicitly mentioned in the provided information.

To get a comprehensive understanding of Asian Chef's complete menu, dining environment, and any ongoing promotions, it would be beneficial to contact them directly or look for online menus or social media presence, if available. Visiting the location might also provide insights into the restaurant's atmosphere and service style firsthand.

Summary for Local Users:

Asian Chef in Long Beach presents itself as a local Chinese restaurant offering a variety of familiar dishes. While one customer reported enjoying the food quality, particularly the crispy chicken and egg drop soup during a quiet period, another experienced significant issues with order accuracy and customer service. The incident involving the excessively sauced chicken bowl and the lack of resolution is a point of concern for potential customers. The owner was described as sweet but unprofessional in handling the complaint.

Local residents considering Asian Chef should weigh the positive feedback on food flavor against the negative experience with order accuracy and customer service. If you are looking for a potentially quieter dining experience during off-peak hours, Asian Chef might be an option. However, it would be advisable to double-check your order for accuracy, especially for takeout or delivery. Given the limited information on their environment and full range of services, further investigation, such as viewing online menus or contacting the restaurant directly, might be helpful in making an informed decision. The fact that they are hiring could indicate changes or potential improvements in service in the future, but current reviews present a mixed picture.

I came in an hour before they closed so it was quiet very slow. But my food is delicious. I saw the egg shell so I avoided that but my chrispy chicken is JUICY! seasoned without too much salt. The egg drop soup at first taste without chili sauce its very delicious I was sad when I didn't get a spoon but I can just drink it from the container. Thank you so much! I hope you receive the help you need. (They're hiring right now)

Not sure why but the last few times I called to place an order, they hung up on me. Not sure if it's a phone malfunction or if the employees are just hanging up. Owner: take note as this will lead to lost business. Tonight I will order from somewhere else and try again next time. 5 star for food and ambiance (I wouldn't call it romantic but it is exactly what you expect), 1 star for service until they address the phone issue.

Hands down one of the best Chinese fast food local joints! Food always tastes fresh. It's a small and cozy spot. They play what sounds like traditional Chinese music which adds a nice vibe. So many order to takeout. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy warm Chinese food.
