About Asian Chao

Asian Chao, located at 1251 U.S. Hwy 31 N in Greenwood, IN 46142, USA, operates as a Chinese restaurant within a mall environment. As a food vendor in this category, Asian Chao offers a convenient option for shoppers and mall visitors seeking Chinese-inspired cuisine. Based on recent customer reviews, the experience at Asian Chao appears to be somewhat inconsistent, with notable praise for specific items and aspects of service alongside significant criticisms regarding the quality and freshness of other dishes.

Given its location within a mall, the environment of Asian Chao is likely typical of a food court setting. This would generally involve a service counter where customers place their orders and receive their food, with a shared seating area provided by the mall for dining. The atmosphere would be characterized by the general activity and noise levels of a shopping mall, which might be suitable for a quick and casual meal while shopping. One reviewer mentioned feeling "nostalgic for childhood mall dates," which suggests a familiar and perhaps comforting association with this type of dining environment for some patrons. However, specific details about the décor or ambiance of the Asian Chao storefront itself are not provided in the reviews.

The service at Asian Chao received mixed feedback. One reviewer described the "women working" as "incredibly friendly & kind," which indicates a positive interaction with the staff. This friendly service can contribute significantly to a pleasant customer experience, even if other aspects of the meal are not entirely satisfactory. However, another reviewer reported a less positive observation regarding the service, noting that the manager was engaged in a personal conversation instead of attending to her duties at the register during what seemed to be a busy time. This suggests a potential inconsistency in the professionalism or attentiveness of the staff, depending on the individual and the circumstances.

The standout item at Asian Chao, according to the reviews, is the bourbon chicken. One reviewer explicitly gave "5-stars for mall bourbon chicken," indicating a high level of satisfaction with this particular dish. Another customer who stopped by with nostalgic memories specifically ordered the bourbon chicken with white rice and reported that the "chicken was fresh & tasted exactly as I remembered." This strong positive feedback suggests that the bourbon chicken is a popular and consistently well-prepared item at this location, potentially a signature dish that draws customers in.

In contrast to the positive reviews of the bourbon chicken, other dishes received significant criticism regarding their quality and freshness. One highly dissatisfied customer reported that the "orange chicken was old and hard as a rock." This description indicates a severe lack of freshness and poor quality, making the dish unpalatable. Similarly, the same reviewer described the "fried rice" as "very dry," speculating that it might have been cooked several days prior. This suggests a significant issue with food preparation and holding times, raising concerns about the overall freshness of the food being served.

The same critical reviewer noted that the only edible part of their meal was the bourbon chicken, but even then, they felt it was not worth the price given that the rest of their order was inedible. This highlights a significant discrepancy in the quality of different dishes offered at Asian Chao. The fact that a customer had to discard a substantial portion of their meal due to staleness and poor quality is a serious concern for potential future customers.

The mixed reviews present a challenge in forming a definitive assessment of the food quality at Asian Chao. While the bourbon chicken appears to be a reliable and enjoyable option, the reports of old and hard orange chicken and dry, possibly day-old fried rice raise significant red flags about the consistency and overall quality control of other menu items. Local users considering Asian Chao might be inclined to try the bourbon chicken based on the positive feedback, but should be aware of the potential for other dishes to be of a much lower standard.

Given that Asian Chao is located within a mall food court, it primarily caters to shoppers looking for a quick meal. The service is likely geared towards efficiency, although the reported instance of a manager being distracted suggests that this might not always be the case. The feature of being a convenient dining option within a shopping center is a key aspect of its appeal, particularly for those already at the mall. However, the inconsistent food quality could detract from this convenience if customers are not satisfied with their meals.

There is no information provided in the available reviews regarding any specific promotional offers or discounts at Asian Chao. As a food court vendor, their pricing and promotions might be influenced by mall-wide events or their own internal strategies. Local users interested in potential deals or specials should check for any visible signage at the storefront when visiting the mall or inquire directly at the counter when placing their order. Mall food court vendors sometimes offer lunch specials or bundled deals, so it would be worth checking for such promotions if you decide to try Asian Chao.

In conclusion, Asian Chao in Greenwood, IN, offers Chinese cuisine within a mall setting, with customer reviews highlighting a stark contrast in experiences. The bourbon chicken is consistently praised for its freshness and taste, making it a potentially reliable choice. However, there are significant concerns regarding the quality and freshness of other dishes, such as the orange chicken and fried rice. The service appears to be generally friendly, though there might be instances of inattentiveness. Local users considering dining at Asian Chao might find the bourbon chicken appealing but should be aware of the reported inconsistencies in other menu items. Checking for any available promotions upon visiting the location could also be beneficial.

The orange chicken was old and hard as a rock. The fried rice was very dry I think it might have been cooked 3 or 4 days before. The only thing that I could eat was the bourbon chicken it was good but not for the price when I could not eat the rest of the meal. The manager was talking about her personal life instead of running the register where she was stationed. Not a happy customer.

5-stars for mall bourbon chicken... Feeling nostalgic for childhood mall dates with my mom, I stopped in Asian Chao for an order of bourbon chicken with white rice. It was near closing time & I didn't have high hopes. The chicken was fresh & tasted exactly as I remembered. The women working were incredibly friendly & kind. Would stop by again if in the mall.

They served me a roach in my chicken and I spent over $30 for two meals I couldn’t even eat anymore.

I haven't been to Asian Chao in quite some time so I decided to stop to eat while shopping. I remember they always gave out so much food that you could barely close the container. Now it's just a scoop of rice and a scoop and a half of what they consider "double protein." With a Sprite, my total was a whopping $17! Never again!

If you’re in the mall, go to Sarku Japan right next to it, my wife got a large drink, and her meal and it was 13$ with TWICE as much food as I received here. 19$ I spent for a two entree and a drink the chicken was the equivalent of a snack size portion. And 4$ for a small drink?? Out of your mind. In the picture provided there is noodles under the chicken so it’s 5-6 small pieces of chicken per entree.
