About Asian Buffet

Asian Buffet is a Chinese restaurant located at 270 W Holt Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53207, USA, offering a buffet-style dining experience.

Customer reviews present a mixed perspective on the restaurant. One early visit in March 2024 seemed more positive, with video evidence suggesting a certain level of variety. However, a subsequent visit around 3 PM revealed the restaurant to be smaller than expected, with fewer entree options compared to other buffets. Concerns were raised about food quality, including poorly stocked items, crispy bits in the white rice (indicating it might not have been properly covered), and some meats being difficult to chew. One customer also noted that some food on their father's plate was cold.

On a more positive note, frog legs were mentioned as being well-seasoned. However, the buffet was reported to lack some common kid-friendly options like pizza and chicken nuggets, as well as ice cream and chocolate cake for dessert. The Asian donuts were described as hard and crunchy.

The interior of the restaurant was noted to appear clean. However, one customer mentioned noticing accumulated dust and debris under the table, which was concerning. The wait staff received positive feedback for being polite, friendly, and attentive.

A later visit on New Year's Eve 2024 offered a more favorable experience. The atmosphere was described as nice and not overly crowded, with excellent customer service and an attentive waitress. The variety of food was considered great, with smaller amounts being frequently replenished, ensuring freshness. The reviewer particularly enjoyed the numerous types of shrimp, vegetables, and fried chicken. The only issue reported during this visit was with the crawfish, some of which were burnt due to a lack of liquid in the pan.

It is also worth noting that one customer mentioned observing a "B" health rating for the establishment.

In summary, Asian Buffet offers a Chinese buffet experience in Milwaukee. Recent feedback suggests that while some aspects like service and the variety during certain visits are appreciated, there have been inconsistencies in food quality, temperature, and the availability of certain items. Potential customers may want to consider these factors when deciding to dine here.

I love Asian buffets and remember the days before Covid hit when there used to be so many ...not so much these days anymore. When I heard this place opened I was excited to try it out with the family! After the last snow, the lot had not been plowed and had no frozen, making the parking lot an icy disaster. Not cool. We went around 3pm. Wow is it small. It was missing an entire row of entree options than what I am used to. The food was....meh. It wasnt well stocked and the white rice had crispy bits from it not being covered. The flat sections of meat in my meal were quite large but difficult to bite thru. My father commented on the food on his plate being cold before he got to eat it. They did serve frog legs that were well seasoned. They didn't have the pizza or chicken nuggets for the kids. No ice cream for dessert. The Asian donuts were hard and crunchy. No chocolate cakes. Not a good end to the meal. The inside looked very clean but after my sweater fell under our table I saw everything that stuck to it and was kinda turned off. The wait staff were polite and friendly and kept busy. Took a star off for little entree options took another off for food temp and upkeep. Also worth noting...my daughter pointed out after we left that the establishment only had a "B" rating. I usually do not see that low.

Our third visit here was New years eve 2024. The atmosphere was nice, not too congested. The customer service was excellent & the waitress was very attentive to our needs. The variety of food was great. They keep smaller amounts available yet constantly keep replenishing it. The only issue I had was the crawfish had no liquid in the pan, which let some of them get burnt (in the shell), but everything else was fresh and delightful. The numerous types of shrimp and veggies and fried chicken were my favorite. These videos are from my first visit on March 9,2024.

Update 12/21/2024 Our visit was about 2 PM on a Saturday afternoon and sadly, the condition of buffet and seating was gross. When we first sat down, we found used napkins stuffed in seat of booth suggesting lack of thorough cleaning. Hate to report that health inspection gave a "B" rating and posted on front door. Food quality has gone down alot in just a month. Spring rolls were noticeably smaller. Dumpling sauce is left without heating or cooling at room temperature in a plastic container with a community ladle that "feels" unsanitary to share. Soup and food are not stirred frequently so liquids coagulate on food and soup bins - unappetizing and leaves the hot and sour soup look and feel sludgie. Rice, fish and meats were dried out on steam tables. Even though, food was warm but not hot. While buffets are tough to maintain, they must be turned over and kept fresh. Unfortunately, lots of waste comes with this type of business. We saw flies, too, and that ended the meal -- can only imagine what's in the kitchen. Clearly, the new operators are cutting corners and need a better business model or they will shutdown from lack of customers or health inpection failures. Anything but an "A" rating is a failure - B had to be a generous warning, but based on our experiences in recent weeks, a "C" is inevitable without immediate changes. I suggest two things: (1) Close temporarily, cleanup the whole place, and decontaminate the bugs - request an immediate re-inspection and don't open without an "A" rating from health department. (2) Consider a modified food prep model by asking customers what dishes they prefer to eat when they come in the door, then cook to order, putting it fresh on buffet like Pizza Ranch. People can have appetizers and soup while they wait for fresh food on buffet (up to 10 minutes) and you will satisfy and gain customers. Service was overly attentive and so we felt rushed and pestered and gave a lower rating. Dirty booth dropped atmosphere rating, too. Original Review: Reopened under new management. Better food, service and ambiance. Prices are reasonable, too. Friendly and not rushed.

Can't find better frog legs.. buffet was clean and well attended to. 2 for 1 beers on Tuesdays. This place is not ur stereotypical Asian buffet.. it's clean, kitchen staff is on the buffet line temping food during service. My Wongs Wok fans from the Southside of Milwaukee will love this place!!

this food actually made my day worse. The rice was hard, and the meat taste like hot Cheetos, and a fly came onto my plate and i almost threw up. I would not come back here.
