About Alice’s Kitchen - Temple City

Welcome to Alice’s Kitchen - Temple City, a Chinese restaurant located at 9556 Las Tunas Dr, Temple City, CA 91780, USA. This establishment, categorized as a Chinese Restaurant, aims to bring the vibrant flavors and unique dining experience of Hong Kong to the local community. You can reach them at (626) 313-1868 or +1 626-313-1868.

Based on recent customer feedback, the dining experience at Alice’s Kitchen appears to be a mix of nostalgic ambiance and authentic Hong Kong-style cuisine, although some aspects have received mixed reviews. One customer in 2024 highlighted the restaurant's decor, noting the incorporation of old Hong Kong elements, which creates a unique and reminiscent atmosphere. The use of special folding tables and orange plastic bowls, chopsticks, and plates further contributes to this 大排擋 (dai pai dong) feel, evoking a sense of traditional Hong Kong street food culture.

The same positive review praised the authenticity of the food. Dishes like the Hong Kong-style sweet and sour pork and the pan-fried udon with beef in black pepper sauce were described as tasting very authentic, bringing back memories of home for the reviewer. A unique offering that stood out was the ovaltine french toast, a novel and reportedly tasty dessert that the customer had never encountered before.

However, more recent feedback from 2025 paints a less favorable picture regarding service and food quality consistency. One customer recounted a frustrating experience during a Sunday breakfast/brunch, citing a long wait and being seemingly skipped on the waitlist despite arriving earlier than others. The interaction with the host was described as nonchalant and disrespectful. This suggests potential issues with customer service, particularly during peak hours when the restaurant is busy.

Furthermore, the food quality seems to have been inconsistent according to this later review. The porridge and fried noodles ordered were described as lacking flavor. The reviewer specifically suggested that Alice’s Kitchen should focus on managing their quality control and service, especially during busy periods, to ensure a positive experience for all customers.

Earlier feedback, though less recent, also raised concerns about the food. One review mentioned that the food was not good, with a long wait time for ordering. Specific dishes like the curry pork skin were described as tasting old and lacking flavor, and a porridge that was supposed to contain pork skin was served without it. Additionally, the portion size of the porridge was noted as small and watery, and the soup noodle was said to have very little soup. Even the lemon tea was criticized for having very little lemon. This feedback indicates potential issues with food quality, preparation, and portion sizes.

In summary, Alice’s Kitchen - Temple City offers a unique dining environment that aims to recreate the atmosphere of old Hong Kong. Some customers have found the food to be authentic and reminiscent of Hong Kong cuisine, with dishes like the sweet and sour pork, pan-fried udon, and the unique ovaltine french toast receiving positive mentions. However, recent feedback highlights significant concerns regarding inconsistent food quality, lack of flavor in certain dishes, small portion sizes, and issues with customer service, particularly during busy times. Potential customers should be aware of these varying experiences when considering dining at Alice’s Kitchen.

While the restaurant seems to offer a nostalgic ambiance and some authentic dishes, it appears there are areas that need improvement, particularly in maintaining consistent food quality and ensuring efficient and courteous service, especially during peak hours. It would be advisable for potential diners to consider these recent reviews alongside the positive feedback when making their decision.

Food not that good. The wait is long. Took them a long time to come take order. The curry pork skin taste old and no flavor. The porridge supposed to have pork skin but there is none. Portion of porridge small and water down. The soup noodle barely give you any soup. So little lemon in lemon tea. Will not recommend this place.

Update in 2025: The second time I came here was on a Sunday breakfast/brunch time. They have an iPad to sign up/check-in as they were packed. I was waiting in the back closer to the parking lot entrance. However, the host has been skipping my number and has been calling people who arrived after me. I finally went to her and asked her. She was not very nice, nonchalant, and disrespectful by saying “I called you!” I told her that I have been standing here, but did not hear my number if she can give me to next available table. She then gave me the table next to the exit where everyone was waiting. We ordered porridge and a fried noodle. However, food had lack of flavor. Highly suggest that they manage their quality control and service, especially during business hours. 2024 4 stars: Came here for the first time because I want to try their ovaltine french toast. We parked on Las Tunas, and there was plenty of parking when we arrived. We were seated promptly. I love the decorations. They put a lot of old Hong Kong elements in this restaurant. Also they use a special folding table and Orange plastic bowl, chopsticks, and plates, which reminded me of 大排擋. We ordered Hong Kong style sweet and sour pork, pan fried udon with beef in black pepper sauce, and 7up with salted lime. The food tasted very authentic! Reminds me of home. We ordered ovaltine french toast as dessert. It is something new to me that I have never had, and it turns out tasty! Services was good, and servers are friendly. Will be back again.

Had a great lunch at this Hong Kong-style café! With a good variety of dishes on the table, we got to sample quite a few, and I’d say most of them were pretty authentic to what you’d find in HK. Highly recommend the Singaporean noodles, XO sauce stir-fried rice flour rolls, and the pineapple bun with pork chop—each one packed with flavor and done really well. The baked pork chop rice was also solid, comforting and nicely portioned. One miss, though, was the curry fish balls and pork skins. The curry wasn’t the typical HK style and didn’t taste quite right—wouldn’t recommend that dish. Overall, a satisfying meal.

This place serves an amazing Hong Kong-style breakfast with fast service and great prices! They even have their own parking lot. If you're ordering takeout, be sure to use the Fantuan App. Every dish comes with a drink! Highly recommend the congee with duck and preserved egg. My personal favorite was the pineapple bun with pork chop.

The food at Alice’s Kitchen is really good. Every time I go, I leave full and happy. My top picks? Definitely the crispy noodle and the pineapple bun with chicken steak—both are absolute winners. The crispy noodle has that perfect crunch, topped with tender meat and veggies in a savory sauce that brings everything together. It’s super satisfying and full of flavor. And don’t even get me started on the pineapple bun—the bun is slightly sweet and soft on the outside, with that juicy, perfectly cooked chicken steak tucked inside. It’s the best kind of sweet-savory combo.
