About A Wok

A Wok is a Chinese restaurant situated at 1414 Lexington Ave, Mansfield, OH 44906, USA. They can be contacted at (419) 756-9211 or +1 419-756-9211 and primarily offers takeout service.

Based on recent customer reviews, the restaurant's storefront and overall cleanliness appear to be areas of concern. One reviewer described the storefront as "hideous" and "dirty," noting broken and out-of-order coolers and a visibly unclean COVID-19 protection barrier. This customer felt the entire storefront looked like it had not been cleaned for a significant period, creating an uninviting atmosphere.

Regarding the food, opinions were mixed. While one customer appreciated the packaging and the food arriving hot after a ten-minute drive, they found the fried wonton appetizer to be overly chewy with a sugary sauce and a bland filling. The chicken curry was also disappointing, with the chicken described as mushy and boiled, and the curry itself lacking in flavor despite a good spice level and well-cooked vegetables.

Another customer, new to the area and originally from Chicago, found the Chinese rice to be excessively starchy and sticky with an unpleasant smell. However, this reviewer did commend the staff for being exceptionally courteous. Overall, the limited recent feedback suggests that while the service may be polite, there are significant concerns regarding the restaurant's environment and the quality and flavor of some of its dishes.

This was a big disappointment today. I ordered a large portion of chicken curry and the fried wonton appetizer for lunch today. Before I discuss the food, there is a big issue that needs to be addressed. The store front. Man, it's just awful. There are a couple broken coolers with soda in them that have handwritten signs that say, "out of order." Then there is a makeshift COVID protector between you and the kitchen, which is perfectly fine. Except it's filthy. In fact, the whole storefront appeared filthy. Nothing looked like it had been cleaned in ages. The food was packaged well. I have a ten minute drive home, and my lunch was hot when I got home. So that is a positive. The food itself though, was very "meh." The fried wonton was overly chewy and the sauce it came with wasn't the best. It was sweet, but came off as just a sugary substance. The filling of the wontons left a lot to be desired. Almost no flavor at all. The curry though, was the big swing and miss today. I was so excited because I have been craving a good Asian curry for a while and didn't know anywhere in Mansfield to get one. So when I found it on the menu here, I jumped right to it. I'll start with the good. The veggies were cooked well. They were tender yet not overcooked. The heat/spicey level is perfect for me. It wasn't so hot it was burdensome, but it definitely had my nose running while I was eating. Now the bad. This has the worst cooked chicken I've ever eaten. It was mushy and seemed like it was just boiled in water. The curry itself lacked flavor. They need to double the amount of spices they are using to create the curry. Because this has nearly no curry flavor to it at all. To wrap this up, the storefront was hideous, dirty, and uninviting. The food was very meh. And nothing stood out to me as a great, or even good, experience. I don't see myself coming back.

Today marked my initial experience with this Chinese restaurant and I must say I was not particularly impressed. As a Chicago native, I make an effort to explore various dining options, yet I found the Chinese rice to be excessively starchy and sticky, accompanied by an off-putting aroma. While individual preferences may vary, I am simply sharing my perspective. On a positive note, the staff members were exceptionally courteous, which is commendable.

This is, hands down, the BEST Chinese food in Mansfield. Super easy to order on line. Showed up, food was ready. Got home, it was absolutely delicious! And piping hot. I couldn't be happier

The place is uninviting, needs a good cleaning. Piles of cardboard boxes on the floor along with a stepladder. The floor and tables needed to be cleaned. Some of the lights in the food signs did not work and the plastic covers had spots on them. The ceiling vent fan was dirty.
