About A Taste of China

Welcome to A Taste of China, a Chinese restaurant located at 1167 S 4th St, Louisville, KY 40203, USA. Operating within the Chinese Restaurant category, A Taste of China aims to provide Chinese cuisine to the local community. You can contact them at (502) 585-5582 or via mobile at +1 502-585-5582 for inquiries.

As a Chinese restaurant, A Taste of China likely offers a menu featuring a variety of standard Chinese-American dishes. These typically include options such as fried rice, lo mein, various chicken, beef, and seafood entrees, and possibly appetizers. Chinese restaurants often cater to both takeout and delivery services, providing convenient options for customers to enjoy their meals at home.

Based on recent customer reviews, A Taste of China has received overwhelmingly negative feedback regarding its food quality and delivery service. Potential customers should be aware of these significant concerns before considering ordering from or visiting this establishment.

One reviewer stated emphatically that their experience was the "First & Last time ordering from this place for me." They directly compared A Taste of China unfavorably to another local Chinese restaurant, Cheer King, noting that Cheer King offers larger portions, consistently fresh food, and better taste. This reviewer specifically criticized the protein in the fried rice from A Taste of China, describing it as not tasting fresh. Their overall assessment of A Taste of China's food was unequivocally negative, concluding with "This ISN'T good Chinese food" and a stark warning, "Diner Beware." They even referenced their other Chinese restaurant reviews on Google to emphasize their experience in distinguishing between good and bad Chinese cuisine.

Another reviewer focused entirely on the delivery service offered by A Taste of China, highlighting what they perceived as exorbitant charges. They pointed out a "$15 minimum for Delivery," followed by a "$5 delivery charge," and the expectation of tipping the driver. This reviewer provided a clear breakdown of the potential costs for delivery, illustrating that even with a minimum $15 order and a small $2 or $3 tip, customers would be facing a significant upcharge simply for delivery, especially for those living only "a few blocks down." They calculated this as potentially a "50% upcharge on the total cost of the food just for them to deliver." This high cost led this reviewer to also declare it would be their "Last time" ordering from A Taste of China. Their concern about food quality was also evident, as they expressed hope that the "protein in their rice doesn't make me sick," echoing the other reviewer's concerns about freshness.

Furthermore, this second reviewer also shared a negative experience with a specific dish, the "Worst beef lo mein I've ever tried." They described the entire dish as "garbage" and again recommended Cheer King as an alternative for good Chinese food, emphasizing that Cheer King also delivers. This direct comparison and strong negative opinion further underscore the significant dissatisfaction expressed by these customers regarding the food quality at A Taste of China.

Considering these reviews, no positive aspects of the environment of A Taste of China are mentioned. The strong focus on negative food quality and delivery charges suggests that these were the primary concerns of the reviewers, overshadowing any potential comments about the restaurant's ambiance or cleanliness.

The services offered by A Taste of China include delivery and likely takeout. However, the delivery service is heavily criticized for its high minimum order requirement and substantial delivery fee, making it an expensive option, especially for smaller orders or those living nearby. The quality of the food, which is the core of their service, is also severely questioned, with concerns raised about the freshness of ingredients and the overall taste of dishes like fried rice and beef lo mein.

Features of A Taste of China, based on the negative reviews, include a delivery service with a $15 minimum and a $5 charge, in addition to the expectation of a tip. Their menu includes standard Chinese-American fare such as fried rice and beef lo mein, but the quality of these dishes has been described as poor, with concerns about the freshness of ingredients. The comparison to Cheer King in both reviews highlights a perceived lack of quality and value compared to at least one competitor.

No promotional information is mentioned in the provided reviews. The high delivery charges could be seen as a negative aspect of their pricing strategy rather than a promotion. The lack of positive feedback regarding the food quality or value suggests that any potential promotions might be overshadowed by these more significant concerns.

In conclusion, recent customer reviews for A Taste of China at 1167 S 4th St in Louisville, KY, are overwhelmingly negative. Significant concerns have been raised about the poor quality and lack of freshness of the food, particularly the fried rice and beef lo mein. Additionally, the delivery service is criticized for its high minimum order requirement and substantial delivery fee, making it a costly option. The direct and unfavorable comparisons to another local Chinese restaurant, Cheer King, further emphasize the dissatisfaction of these reviewers. Potential customers should carefully consider these serious negative experiences before choosing to order from A Taste of China, as the feedback suggests significant issues with both the food and the delivery service.

First & Last time ordering from this place for me. The other reviewer on here is right, Cheer King is much better. Cheer Kings portions are larger, the food is always fresh, and the taste is just better. The protein in the Fried Rice from this place just does not taste fresh. $15 minimum for Delivery, then $5 delivery charge, and then you're expected to tip the driver. Think about it, the math only works if you're placing a large delivery order, otherwise, order the minimum $15, $5 Delivery Charge, and $2 or $3 tip. That's a 50% upcharge on the total cost of the food just for them to deliver a few blocks down. Last time for me. God, I hope the protein in their rice doesn't make me sick. Seriously. Check my other Chinese restaurant reviews on Google. I know the difference between good & bad Chinese food. This ISN'T good Chinese food. Diner Beware.

Discovered this recently. Good prices, quick service & the food is very good 👍. I will continue to go here as they always have parking ,close to downtown & it's half the price of what they charge Downtown. Every time I order I try something different & so far , very happy. As I like to eat different foods from different cultures & ethnicity's.
