About A-1 WOK RESTAURANT

A-1 WOK RESTAURANT is a Chinese restaurant located at 1825 Gravois Ave in St. Louis, Missouri. As a local establishment within the Chinese restaurant category, A-1 WOK RESTAURANT offers a variety of Chinese cuisine options to the community. Situated at 1825 Gravois Ave, St. Louis, MO 63104, they can be contacted at (314) 776-8282 or +1 314-776-8282 for inquiries or to place orders for takeout or potential delivery services.

Information regarding the specific ambiance and environment of A-1 WOK RESTAURANT is limited in the provided customer reviews. However, as a typical Chinese restaurant, it is expected to have a dining area for on-site customers and facilities for preparing takeout orders. The focus is generally on providing a diverse menu of Chinese dishes in a setting that accommodates both individual diners and potentially small groups from the local neighborhood.

In terms of services, A-1 WOK RESTAURANT offers both dine-in and takeout options. The fact that customers have ordered food to eat at the restaurant suggests the availability of dine-in service. The provision of phone numbers indicates that placing orders for takeout is also a standard service. Delivery options are not explicitly mentioned in the reviews, so local users may need to inquire directly about this if it is a service they require.

One customer shared a somewhat contradictory experience, initially finding the food so good that they ate there for three consecutive days. This positive initial impression suggests that A-1 WOK RESTAURANT is capable of producing high-quality dishes that are well-received by some patrons. However, on a subsequent visit, approximately one and a half hours before closing, this same customer reported a significant decline in food quality. They found the chicken in the rice to be undercooked and the crab rangoon to be stale and tasting old, as if it had been sitting out. This inconsistency in food quality, potentially related to the time of day or proximity to closing, is a notable concern for potential customers.

The experience of the first reviewer led to them feeling unwell and hesitant to eat at A-1 WOK RESTAURANT again, despite their initial positive experiences. This highlights the importance of consistent food quality and proper food handling, especially concerning items like chicken and seafood that can pose health risks if not prepared or stored correctly.

Another customer described the food as "very mid," suggesting an average quality that is neither particularly impressive nor significantly disappointing. However, this reviewer raised a notable issue regarding the restaurant's policy on sauce packets. They stated that the restaurant is "so greedy with the sauce packets" and charges for each additional sauce requested. This policy regarding condiments could be a point of frustration for customers who prefer extra sauce with their meals and might influence their overall perception of value.

In addition to the issue with sauce portions and pricing, the second reviewer also noted "slow service" and indicated that the prices were "slightly overpriced." Slow service can detract significantly from the dining experience, especially for those who are looking for a quick meal or are dining during a limited lunch break. The perception of being slightly overpriced, combined with average food quality and extra charges for sauce, could affect the overall value proposition of A-1 WOK RESTAURANT for some customers.

Considering the limited number of reviews available, it is challenging to form a comprehensive picture of the overall experience at A-1 WOK RESTAURANT. However, the existing feedback points to potential inconsistencies in food quality, particularly towards the end of the day, a restrictive policy regarding sauce packets with extra charges, slow service, and a perception of slightly elevated prices relative to the quality received.

For local users in St. Louis considering A-1 WOK RESTAURANT, it would be wise to take these points into account. The initial positive experience reported by one customer suggests that the food can be good at times, but the subsequent negative experience on the same day raises concerns about consistency. The policy on charging for extra sauce is also a factor that might influence customer satisfaction, as is the reported slow service and pricing. Potential patrons might want to consider the timing of their visit and perhaps inquire about the sauce policy when ordering.

In conclusion, A-1 WOK RESTAURANT in St. Louis offers Chinese cuisine with dine-in and takeout services. While one customer initially had multiple positive experiences, they later encountered issues with undercooked chicken and stale crab rangoon. Another reviewer described the food as average, noted slow service and slightly high prices, and criticized the restaurant's policy of charging for extra sauce packets. Local users should be aware of these mixed reviews when deciding whether to patronize A-1 WOK RESTAURANT. It might be prudent to manage expectations regarding food quality consistency, service speed, and the cost of condiments.

I remember when I first started eating here I ate it 3 days in a row it was so good, but on that fourth day I’m not sure what the problem was. Maybe it was because I came and 1 1/2 hours before they closed; which in my opinion still isn’t an excuse to give me what they gave me. The chicken in the rice wasn’t cooked all the way, and the crab ragoon was stale and tasted old like it had been sitting out. I get sick easily so that one time kind of made me nervous to eat there again. Maybe I’ll give them another try cause like I said I ate here 3 days in a row and everything was great.

Very mid food but what makes it worse is that they are so greedy with the sauce packets and will charge you for each sauce if you ask for more. Slow service and slightly overpriced priced

The food is delicious. I like the fact that you can see back in their kitchen. I also seen them taking whole chicken out the oven to cut them up for their different entrees. The only thing I hate is the bs charges they charge their customers. They nickle and dime you for every little thing. You could spend $50 on food and they will give you only 4 packets of condiments and charge you for any additional. 3% charge to use debit cards so take cash.

I’m only giving it one star because it doesn’t have the option for no stars. This has to be the worst Chinese I’ve ever had. Not only was my food nasty, but when I picked it up the food was in the container as well as dumped in the bag. To top it off they charged my debit card twice and for more than what I ordered!! I will not be returning!!

Ordered hot braised chicken combo plate(bone-in) the wings where not cooked long enough. I substitute the crab ragoon for an egg roll and checked my receipt and they charge $1...they charged 50 cent for 5 sweet n sour packets. And 2.50 for a mistic. They only gave me 1red pepper but charged me $17 for this.
