About 9 Dragons
Located at 994 US-9 in Queensbury, New York, 9 Dragons operates within the platform category of "Chinese Restaurant," specifically as an Asian buffet. This format offers customers an all-you-can-eat experience with a diverse selection of dishes. Based on recent customer reviews, 9 Dragons presents an affordable option, particularly for lunch, and boasts a variety of choices beyond traditional Chinese cuisine, including sushi, fruit, salads, and desserts.
One reviewer, who generally enjoys Asian buffets, described their experience at 9 Dragons as "ok." Their main concern was the temperature of some of the food in the chicken section, which they found to be cold initially. Additionally, they noted that some meat items, such as wings and meat on sticks (referred to as "dang"), were rather hard or tough upon their first round. However, they did mention that on their second visit to the buffet, these items seemed to have been warmed up. This suggests a potential inconsistency in food temperature and texture, which might be something for diners to be mindful of, especially during less busy periods.
On a more positive note, the same reviewer highlighted the "great" vegetable options available, which they found suitable for a friend who follows a semi-vegetarian diet. This indicates that 9 Dragons caters to a range of dietary preferences beyond just meat-centric dishes. Furthermore, they pointed out that the lunch special, priced at $13.90 at the time of writing, was a "phenomenal deal," suggesting that 9 Dragons offers good value for money, especially during lunchtime.
Another interesting observation from this reviewer concerned the service style. They found it "a bit odd" that the check was presented without being requested, even though they were not aware of any specific time limit for diners. They speculated that this might be the restaurant's way of encouraging a quicker turnover of tables. Additionally, they mentioned that staff would "peek at your receipts prior to you leaving," which they found unusual. Despite these observations, the reviewer clarified that no one was rude or mean, suggesting that while the service had some quirks, it was not overtly negative.
In contrast to the initial concerns about food temperature, a different reviewer had a more overwhelmingly positive experience. They mentioned that the lunch buffet is priced at only $12.99 every day except Sunday, which is even more affordable than the $13.90 mentioned in the other review, indicating a potential price change or a slight difference in their timing of visit. This reviewer found the food to be consistently "fresh and tasty" and specifically praised the "beautiful" vegetables. They also highlighted the "peel em and eat em shrimp" as a feature. Having eaten at 9 Dragons "dozens of times" without ever getting sick, this reviewer expressed strong confidence in the restaurant's food safety and overall quality. They also mentioned that their entire family and friends enjoy the place, further attesting to its broad appeal. Notably, this review confirms the availability of "sushi, fruit, salads, desserts" in addition to the main Chinese buffet offerings, providing a wide array of choices for diners.
The combined feedback suggests that 9 Dragons offers an affordable all-you-can-eat experience with a significant variety of food options, including Chinese dishes, sushi, vegetables, fruit, salads, and desserts. The lunch buffet, in particular, seems to be well-regarded for its value. While one reviewer noted potential issues with the temperature and texture of some meat items, as well as an unusual service practice regarding the check and receipt, another long-term customer praised the freshness and taste of the food and the overall positive experience. The availability of diverse options, including those suitable for vegetarians, is also a notable feature.
For local users in the Queensbury area looking for a Chinese buffet, 9 Dragons at 994 US-9 appears to be a popular choice, especially for its affordable lunch buffet. The all-you-can-eat format allows diners to sample a wide range of dishes, and the inclusion of sushi, fruit, salads, and desserts adds to the variety. While there is a mention of potential inconsistencies in food temperature and a somewhat unusual service style, the positive feedback regarding the freshness, taste, and overall value, particularly from a repeat customer, suggests that 9 Dragons can offer a satisfying dining experience. The fact that it caters to different dietary needs with its vegetable options further broadens its appeal.

love asian buffets, this was was ok. main complaint was the food for the chicken section was cold and some of the meats (wings, meat on sticks uh not sure what they called dang) were rather hard/tough, but on my second round seems like they warmed it up. their vegetable options are great for our friend who only eats meat on certain days. lunch special as of this writing is 13.90 which is a phenomenal deal. interesting thing is they give you the check without prompting them, even though there's no specific time limit that i'm aware of, i suppose that's their notion to kick you out soon and they will peek at your receipts prior to you leaving lel. no ones rude or mean but i just found that part to be a bit odd.
Only $12.99 for lunch buffet everyday except Sunday. The food is fresh and tasty. Vegetables are beautiful. Peel em and eat em shrimp. All you can eat. Have eaten here dozens of times. I've never gotten sick. My entire family likes this place. As well as my friends.they also have sushi, fruit, salads, desserts. You'll really enjoy this restaurant.
I never been to this establishment before today and I am unlikely to go again. I was on my way to another restaurant before their sign caught my eye. There was a big free parking lot. I went during the lunch hour. No where did the sign mention that this place is a buffet. I walked in and everyone working was wearing masks. The woman who greeted me asked how many I said one she walked around from the register to the back where I could not see her then I heard a soft spoken voice to follow. I turned my head to the left and peered behind the wall to my left and the woman asked me what I wanted to drink as I followed her to the soda machine. I thought I was being escorted to a table. I realized then it was a buffet. I asked if I could sit anywhere and she said no; I set your table back there. Where? The first table… I walked back dropped off my things and the woman brought my soda I said thank you but she didn’t respond just walked away. I proceeded to the food court. There was a big selection. Multiple soups to choose from. Multiple entrees. Most of the food was lukewarm. It was tasty. They also had sushi. Which I thought was interesting and appreciated. The place was clean. There was a section to the right of the entrance where multiple staff were peeling string beans. I really enjoyed the help yourself hard ice creams which was the best part of the meal by far. The woman brought me the bill without my asking and I got up to pay at the register. All in all the experience was mediocre at best. The food was okay but not exceptional. The rude nature of the workers makes me not want to bring my family and I would never recommend this place in the peak season if they can’t put a smile on their faces for the post season. There is an option to take food to go. I saw someone do it while I was there. They weigh the food on a scale. Which made little sense to me being if you eat at the restaurant it’s all you can eat.
This was our second visit to this establishment..They have a decent variety of hot and cold entrees..some spicy..others not..they have selections with beef, chicken and pork..there were also numerous shrimp dishes..we had water with our meal..others chose cold drinks ,such as coke ..they have a variety of ice cream flavors in a self serve freezer..also an assortment of cookies..one food table offered jellos and puddings ..
very sub par for 19.25. Waitresses were rude, It was packed with a lot of people hacking , coughing and blowing their noses. The food had a very cheap , taste. dried out . Tasted like left overs. No variety either. No sesame chicken and dishes you thought a buffet would have. That was a one timer for us.
