About 88 Ramen Wing
Welcome to 88 Ramen Wing, a Chinese restaurant located at 420 E FM 2410 Rd #105, Harker Heights, TX 76548, USA. Positioned within the Chinese Restaurant category, 88 Ramen Wing presents a somewhat unique offering by featuring both traditional Chinese cuisine and ramen on its menu. For inquiries or to place an order, you can contact them at (254) 768-0388 or their mobile number +1 254-768-0388.
88 Ramen Wing has garnered mixed reactions from its initial customers, particularly regarding its fusion of Chinese and ramen offerings and the overall dining experience. One early visitor expressed initial enthusiasm about a new Chinese restaurant in the area that also served ramen. However, their experience with the "chinese ramen" was disappointing, describing the broth as lacking flavor and "bland." This customer suggested that the restaurant should perhaps focus on traditional Chinese food.
The service at 88 Ramen Wing also received criticism from this reviewer. They recounted a lack of greeting upon arrival and a somewhat abrupt indication of the menu's location. The reviewer also noted that they were not initially aware that it was primarily a "to-go" establishment, despite having a couple of uncomfortable tables available for eating on-site. The lack of offered drinks, chopsticks, and napkins (which they had to obtain themselves), coupled with the provision of only a spork as a utensil, further detracted from their dining experience, especially when trying to eat ramen soup.
On a slightly more positive note, the reviewer mentioned that a cook or owner inquired about the food quality, and they found it to be "O-K," albeit stating they had experienced better ramen elsewhere. This initial negative experience led the reviewer to express reluctance to return and explore the Chinese food options, preferring other ramen establishments in the area for a better experience.
In contrast, another customer had a more favorable impression of the ramen at 88 Ramen Wing. They acknowledged that the restaurant "doesn't look like much" with its small and quaint setting, but they found the ramen to be a "perfect light meal" that "tasted so good" due to its simplicity. This contrasting view suggests that the ramen offering at 88 Ramen Wing might appeal to those who prefer a lighter and simpler style of ramen compared to more complex and flavorful broths found elsewhere.
The environment of 88 Ramen Wing is described as "small and definitely quaint" by one reviewer, and another noted the presence of only two "uncomfortable" tables, indicating that it is primarily geared towards takeout service with very limited and perhaps not ideal seating for on-site dining. The first negative review also mentioned the lack of typical amenities associated with dine-in experiences, such as offered drinks and readily available utensils and napkins.
The services at 88 Ramen Wing appear to focus mainly on food preparation for both takeout and limited dine-in. The contrasting reviews highlight potential inconsistencies in service, with one customer experiencing a lack of attentiveness and basic provisions, while the other focused more on the positive aspects of the food itself. It is clear that the primary mode of operation is likely geared towards quick service and takeout orders, given the limited seating and the initial impression of it being a "to-go" place.
In terms of features, the most notable aspect of 88 Ramen Wing is its dual offering of Chinese cuisine and ramen, a combination that is not commonly found. However, the initial feedback suggests that the ramen might not meet the expectations of those seeking a more traditional and flavorful ramen experience. On the other hand, its simplicity appealed to at least one customer. The restaurant is also characterized by its small size and limited dine-in facilities. The provision of only a spork as a utensil for all dishes, including ramen soup, is an unusual feature that might deter some customers.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. As a relatively new establishment or one with a unique concept, 88 Ramen Wing might consider offering introductory specials or promotions to attract more customers and encourage them to try both their Chinese dishes and their ramen. Local residents interested in trying this new spot could inquire about any current deals or featured items when placing an order.
In conclusion, 88 Ramen Wing in Harker Heights, TX, presents an interesting fusion of Chinese food and ramen in a small, primarily takeout-oriented setting. Customer reviews offer contrasting perspectives, with one expressing disappointment in the ramen and the service, while another found the ramen to be a satisfyingly simple meal. The limited dine-in facilities with only a couple of uncomfortable tables and the provision of a spork as the sole utensil might influence the dining experience for those choosing to eat on-site. If you are in the Harker Heights area and curious about this unique combination, particularly for takeout, 88 Ramen Wing is an option to consider. However, it is advisable to manage expectations regarding the dine-in experience and perhaps inquire about the Chinese food offerings based on the mixed feedback regarding their ramen. For the most current information on their menu, hours, and any promotions, please contact them directly.

I wanted to like this place because finally there’s a new chinese restaurant in the area! AND RAMEN!!! But wait.. chinese ramen? Yup. Big mistake. Just stick to chinese food. The ramen broth did not have a lot of flavor. Bland. The service was so bad. It was our first time going there, the lady did not even say hi hello nothing! We were standing and she then said “oh there’s the menu” we didn’t even know it was a “to-go” only place. They do have some tables (2 to be specific) to eat but uncomfortable. Didn’t offer any drinks at all, no chopsticks; no napkin, I had to get it myself. The only utensil they provide is a spork. How am I supposed to eat my ramen soup with that lol. A cook or owner came out after a couple minutes while we were eating our food and asked if the food was good. It was O-K. I’ve had better ramen in my life. I was ready to give it another go with their chinese food but this experience made me not want to waste anymore money and time. If you want a slightly better ramen experience, go to Naruto Ramen. At least they have more flavor (hate that it’s also to-go order only) BUT IF YOU WANT A BETTER RAMEN flavor wise and experience, go to Bell Tokyo! I’m not coming back. There are far better chinese food in downtown killeen.
Heeeeyyyy... So let me tell you this!! At first glance this ramen place doesn't look like much... it's small and definitely quaint... but the food!! The Ramen!!! It was the perfect light meal!! It tasted so good!! Because it was so simple. That's what set it apart from other ramen places. Mmmm... 👌😋
Oh man.....that ramen.....I've had water that had more flavor. The fried dumplings were good. This is a to go spot. They do have a table to sit and eat. But it's uncomfortable. I'm sure their Chinese food and wings are good. But they should just drop the ramen. No eggs, either.
I’ve had this place a couple times always the same order.. Sesame chx extra spicy with fried rice. Now normally this dish is excellent but today I came in ordered my usual and I’m not impressed the chx was not crunchy not spicy the sauce is even different as well as the color.. I’m not sure if they changed cooks or what but this isn’t how it was when I first ordered this… I truly hope now that they have been open a while thy are not going to start slacking off on taste and freshness! By the way I ordered waited inside and not even 5 mins later I was getting my order! Got home which is only a 5 min drive and it was lukewarm so maybe I got someone’s food that wasn’t picked up but either way waste of money!
We've been looking for good Chinese in Killeen/Harker Heights for almost 3 years. Took a shot at 88 Ramen Wing due to a grand opening coupon and scored. Got it early (5:30) before they were busy and it was the best Chinese we've had since moving here in 2020. Food was fresh and not too saucy, was done in less than 10 minutes, restaurant was clean and orderly, and the woman at the counter was very polite and friendly. I had Chicken with vegetables and my wife had sweet and sour chicken, both exceeded expectation. Well be back soon and hope for consistency with other dishes. Thanks 88 Ramen Wing! Keep it up.
