About 88 Palace

Welcome to 88 Palace, a Chinese restaurant located at 88 E Broadway, New York, NY 10002, right in the heart of Chinatown. While the surroundings may be unassuming, 88 Palace is a hidden gem renowned for its spectacular dumplings and steamed buns, all offered at incredibly affordable prices.

This Chinese restaurant boasts a concise menu of only seven items, making it a go-to spot for those who appreciate a focus on quality over quantity. Notably, the offerings lean towards sweet and meaty steamed buns, packed with flavor and exceptionally juicy. Keep in mind that the current menu does not feature any vegetarian options.

For those seeking a traditional dim sum experience, 88 Palace serves dim sum starting at 9:30 a.m. The dim sum is presented via steam carts, allowing you to choose from a variety of delights as they pass by. Popular choices include classic dishes like shrimp harkow, chicken feet, sticky rice with meat, and shrimp and beef rice rolls. Diners have also enjoyed exploring some less familiar dim sum options, often with pleasant surprises.

Despite the exceptional quality and taste, 88 Palace remains incredibly budget-friendly, with reviewers noting an average cost of around $15 per person, including the tip. The service is consistently described as very good, with a friendly and attentive staff. It's worth noting that 88 Palace has a policy of not accepting credit cards for transactions under $25 (before tax), so plan accordingly.

Finding 88 Palace might require a little extra attention, as it is located on the second floor of a small building. However, the promise of spectacular and affordable dim sum and steamed buns makes the effort worthwhile for locals and visitors alike. If you're in the mood for authentic Chinese flavors without the hefty price tag, 88 Palace is a must-try Chinese restaurant in New York City.

You don't go for the surroundings. You go for the spectacular dumplings and steamed buns. The menu is very small, only 7 items, and nothing is vegetarian. They focus on sweet and meaty steamed buns, packed with flavor and so so juicy. Best part...nothing is more than $5!

This place is not easy to find. It is located on the second floor of a small building. They serve dim sum at 9:30 a.m. The dim sum are carted around in steam carts. We tried some favorites: shrimp harkow, chicken feet, sticky rice with meat, shrimp and beef rice rolls. We also tried some "new" (new to us) dim sum and we were not diapponted. We were pleasantly surprised with the tag price which came to about $15/person with tip. Service is very good, staff is friendly. BTW, they will not accept credit card for less than $25 (before tax).

Had chicken legs -this was soft and soaked in soup, vegetables, rice and other foods I forgot their names. Good price and they tag their food in alphabets, and stamp the ticket - left on the table for each order you make. It's summed up and payed for when you're done. It's my first experience in a Chinese restaurant, went there with my friends, the experience was not bad.
