About 88 China

Located at 1933 Wentzville Pkwy in Wentzville, Missouri, 88 China operates within the Chinese Restaurant category, offering a range of dishes common to such establishments. However, recent feedback from customers who have dined at or ordered from 88 China paints a concerning picture regarding hygiene practices and the quality of the food served. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of these recent experiences as reported by patrons.

Details regarding the environment of 88 China are not extensively covered in the provided reviews. One customer's account focuses on observations made within the kitchen area while picking up an order, noting a cook handling food with bare hands and wearing unsanitary footwear. This raises significant concerns about the hygiene standards maintained in the food preparation areas. The lack of other comments on the dining area or overall ambiance suggests that the primary issues reported pertain to food handling and quality rather than the restaurant's decor or atmosphere.

The services offered by 88 China include both takeout and potentially dine-in options, as one reviewer called in an order for pickup. However, the interaction during the service process raised serious red flags for at least one customer. This individual witnessed a cook handling raw meat with his bare hands, wearing soccer sandals without socks, and then approaching the register without washing his hands. This direct observation of a lack of basic hygiene practices is deeply concerning and suggests a potential disregard for food safety regulations. Such practices could deter customers from returning, irrespective of the food's taste.

The features of 88 China, in terms of its culinary offerings, are described through the specific dishes ordered by the reviewers, which include egg foo young, chicken fried rice, hot and sour soup, and sweet-and-sour chicken. However, the quality of these dishes, with the exception of one, has been heavily criticized. One customer found their husband's egg foo young to be "fine," suggesting a possible inconsistency in the preparation and quality of different menu items.

In stark contrast, the same reviewer's experience with the chicken fried rice was overwhelmingly negative. They reported it consisting primarily of rice, with a sparse amount of onions and "tiny ground up pieces of what was supposed to be chicken." Notably, essential vegetables typically found in chicken fried rice, such as green peas and carrots, were entirely absent. This indicates a significant deficiency in ingredients and a lack of attention to the expected composition of a standard dish. Furthermore, the hot and sour soup was also a disappointment, described as having only a "pepper taste" with no sourness, failing to deliver the characteristic flavor profile of this popular soup.

The second review focused on the sweet-and-sour chicken and fried rice. The customer found the chicken pieces to be "so small and tough" that they were barely discernible from the "fried crunchies" surrounding them. This suggests the use of low-quality chicken or improper cooking. Additionally, the fried rice was described as having "absolutely no flavor at all," requiring the addition of soy sauce to make it palatable. This echoes the previous reviewer's complaint about the flavorless fried rice and indicates a potential issue with the seasoning and overall taste of this staple dish.

A particularly concerning aspect highlighted in the second review is the perceived decline in quality over time. The customer stated that they had given 88 China their business "time and time again" but felt that the quality "just seems to get worse." This suggests a systemic issue rather than isolated incidents and could indicate a downward trend in the restaurant's standards.

Promotional information is not mentioned in either of the provided reviews. The focus is entirely on the negative experiences related to hygiene and food quality. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any special offers or promotions that 88 China might be running. Given the severity of the issues raised, it is likely that potential customers would be more concerned with the basic standards of food safety and quality rather than any promotional deals.

In conclusion, recent customer reviews for 88 China, located at 1933 Wentzville Pkwy in Wentzville, MO, raise significant concerns regarding hygiene practices and the quality of the food. The observation of a cook handling food with bare hands and wearing unsanitary footwear is a serious red flag for food safety. Additionally, multiple dishes, including chicken fried rice, hot and sour soup, and sweet-and-sour chicken, have been described as lacking in flavor, containing poor quality ingredients, or deviating significantly from expected standards. While one dish (egg foo young) was deemed acceptable, the overall feedback suggests a pattern of declining quality and potentially unsafe food handling practices. Local users considering 88 China should be aware of these recent and serious concerns before making a decision to dine at or order from this establishment. It would be advisable to seek more current information or consider alternative options until these issues are demonstrably addressed.

The reported lack of hygiene and the consistent complaints about food quality paint a concerning picture for any potential customers. It is crucial for restaurants to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety to ensure the well-being of their patrons. The negative trajectory suggested by one reviewer indicates a need for significant improvements in the kitchen practices and food preparation at 88 China to regain customer trust and satisfaction.

I called in my order and when I arrived the cook was near the back of the kitchen picking up handfuls of meat with his bare hands and putting it in a metal storage container. He was wearing soccer sandals, no socks, just bare feet. He came up to the register to check with me and never washed his hands. I checked out, and took my order home. My husband's egg foo young was fine. On the other hand, my chicken fried rice was rice, a few onions maybe and some tiny ground up pieces of what was supposed to be chicken. Not one green pea, not one carrot. Very disappointing. My hot and sour soup had some pepper taste, but no sour taste at all. I have always been happy with the food here, but I won't be going back.

I ordered sweet-and-sour chicken and the pieces of chicken were so small and tough. You couldn’t even tell that you’re eating anything then fried crunchies rice had absolutely no flavor at all I had to put soy sauce on it just to give it some flavor. I have given this place time and time again my business and it just seems to get worse.

Below average Chinese. Their noodle is below average. The only thing I thought was good was their dipping sauce for their wontons but their wontons were overcooked and destroy the top of your mouth. Surprised how much business they get. Good for them but not what I’m looking for in American Chinese.

Came in on a Wednesday for lunch and glad I did, food came out hot, fresh and fast. There was a steady pace of people coming in and out which is always a good sign. Good bang for your buck and great for a quick lunch when you're tired of the fast food around the place. Will be back
