About 6321 Yuan Bao Gourmet

Welcome to 6321 Yuan Bao Gourmet, a Chinese Restaurant located at 6321 8th Ave in Brooklyn, New York, specializing in authentic Fujianese cuisine. This well-regarded establishment has a history rooted in the local Chinese immigrant community, evolving from a street vendor in the 90s to a beloved restaurant with multiple locations.

Customers rave about the authentic and delicious food at Yuan Bao Gourmet. Originating from Fujian, a coastal province in southeastern China famous for its seafood and soy sauce braised meats, the restaurant offers signature dishes like Bian Rou (Fujianese Wonton soup), praised for its light and delicious flavor, and Ban Bian (Peanut Noodles), known for its generous portion and satisfying taste. A highly recommended dish is the soy sauce braised duck with rice, celebrated for its flavor and decent portion size. Additionally, the rice cake can be stir-fried with various ingredients, with squid being a popular choice.

A notable feature of Yuan Bao Gourmet is its affordability. While some customers have observed a slight reduction in portion sizes with prices remaining relatively stable, especially considering overall inflation, the cost is still considered very reasonable. For those who enjoy their soy sauce braised meat selection, pre-packed options are available for purchase.

It's important to note that 6321 Yuan Bao Gourmet operates on a cash-only basis, and tips are not required. This contributes to a unique service model where customers typically clear their own tables. While the service might not be the most outwardly expressive, particularly from the lady at the front, the focus remains on providing authentic and tasty food at affordable prices, which keeps the local Chinese immigrant community coming back. For non-Chinese speakers, the restaurant offers physical menus with English translations, as the wall menus are in Chinese. If you're looking to experience genuine Fujianese flavors in Brooklyn, 6321 Yuan Bao Gourmet is a must-try.

I stumbled upon this charming noodle spot after passing by several times, and finally, I had the chance to savor their offerings. Opting for the dumplings and Food Chew wonton soup, I was pleasantly surprised when the owner presented me with a giant-sized dumpling. The flavors of the soup and dumplings were more than just okay – they were a delightful blend that left my taste buds satisfied. All of this goodness came at a reasonable price, making the experience even more enjoyable.

If you are up for authentic Chinese (Fujianese) food, this is the place. Yuan Bao used to be our go-to place when my husband and I lived close by. This restaurant is very well-known among Chinese immigrant community. They started off as a street vendor in the 90s, then they opened up this restaurant and another location on 55th street and 8th Ave. - Authentic yummy Chinese food. The owner is from Fujian, a coastal province in southeastern China, which is famous for their seafood and soy sauce braised meats. Bian Rou (Fujianese Wonton soup) and Ban Bian (Peanut Noodles) are the signatures here. The wonton soup is light and delicious. The peanut noodles has a large portion and fill you up quickly. The soy sauce braised duck with rice is a must. It's very flavorful and has a decent portion. Rice cake can be stirred fried with any ingredients. We usually have it with squid. If you love their soy sauce braised meat selection, you can get the pre-packed ones. Freshly made and ready to go. - Very affordable price. CASH ONLY. We did notice the portion for each dish is reduced a little but the price stays the same. The pre-packed soy sauce braised meat is $9 per box, which is $1 or $2 up from before. However considering the overall inflation on everything, this is not too bad at all. - Tips are not required, which is why most of their returning customers are Chinese immigrants who work close by. Customers dinning in usually put the dishes in the garbage can themselves before they pay the bill. So don't expect the service to be the best, after all, you don't pay any tips. The lady at the front usually don't have any facial expressions even if you speak Chinese so don't think too much if you are not getting the super friendly and welcoming vibe from her. *For non-Chinese speakers, make sure to ask them for a physical menu, which has English translation for all the dishes. Menus on the wall are all written in Chinese.

Delicious authentic food, friendly staff and incredibly low prices. We got a bowl of noodles and ten huge dumplings for $5 total, and they threw in a small bowl of soup to boot! That was enough food to fill us both up. Highly recommended!
