About 2546 Cafe
Welcome to 2546 Cafe, a Chinese restaurant located at 2546 San Bruno Ave, San Francisco, CA 94134, USA. As a traditional Hong Kong Cafe, 2546 Cafe offers a taste of home for those familiar with this distinct style of Chinese cuisine. It's a place where you can find hearty and comforting dishes, often reminiscent of childhood flavors for those of Chinese heritage.
The atmosphere at 2546 Cafe is described by patrons as a typical Hong Kong Cafe experience – a non-frills establishment focused on providing straightforward, comforting food. It's not a place you'd typically visit for a fancy or elaborate dining experience, but rather a spot for a quick and satisfying bite. The emphasis is on efficiency and familiar flavors rather than elaborate decor or presentation.
In terms of service, 2546 Cafe operates in a manner consistent with many Hong Kong Cafes, prioritizing getting customers in and out efficiently. While not explicitly described as particularly warm or attentive in the reviews, the focus seems to be on providing the food in a timely manner. This aligns with the general perception of Hong Kong Cafes as places for convenient and quick meals.
A key feature of 2546 Cafe, as highlighted by customer feedback, is the individual portioning of most dishes. This means that while the prices are generally considered fair for a single serving, items that are typically meant for sharing, such as chow fun and fried rice, might not offer the best value for larger groups due to their smaller sizes. If you are planning to dine with others and share dishes, it's advisable to keep your group to a maximum of one to two additional people.
The flavor profile of the food at 2546 Cafe is characterized as being in line with typical Hong Kong Cafe fare. Customers note that while the food is acceptable and comforting, it might not have the complex or intense flavors one might expect from other types of Chinese restaurants. The focus is more on familiar, home-style tastes rather than innovative or gourmet cuisine. For those seeking a taste of authentic Hong Kong comfort food, 2546 Cafe generally delivers on this expectation.
Based on customer reviews, some of the consistently well-received dishes at 2546 Cafe include the salted pepper pork chops, broccoli beef, and baked pork chops. These "go-to" items are praised for their consistency, suggesting a reliable quality in their preparation. If you're looking for recommendations, these dishes appear to be popular choices among regular patrons.
It is important to note that 2546 Cafe operates as a cash-only establishment. This is a significant point mentioned by multiple reviewers. While some customers understand the reasons behind this, others have expressed a desire for more modern payment options such as Zelle or Venmo. However, as it stands, be prepared to pay for your meal with cash.
In summary, 2546 Cafe offers a straightforward and comforting experience typical of a Hong Kong Cafe in San Francisco. It's a place to go for individual portions of familiar dishes when you're looking for a quick and satisfying meal. While it might not be a destination for a special occasion or those seeking innovative flavors, it serves as a reliable option for those craving Hong Kong-style comfort food in the area. If you find yourself nearby and in the mood for these types of dishes, 2546 Cafe is worth a try. For inquiries or directions, you can contact them at (415) 468-8008 or +1 415-468-8008. Remember to bring cash!

Customer Reviews
It's what you'd expect from a typical Hong Kong Cafe. Hearty and comfort food from your childhood if you're Chinese. Portions are on the smaller side, so if you're thinking about sharing, I hope you're dining with no more than 1-2 extra person, max. Needless to say, most of the food here seems to be individual portioning. Price seems fair for the most part, but what would normally be the sharable items like chow fun and fried rice isn't the best bang for your buck considering the small sizes. Flavor wise, the food gets a pass from me. Don't expect to be wowed, because at least to me, HK cafes aren't really known to be fancy and flavorful like what you'd expect from other Chinese establishments. To me, they're more for quick bites. This is a non-frills place, nothing fancy to write home about, but you get in and you get out. Like many others have said already, this is a cash only place. While I understand why, you'd imagine they'd get with the times and have at bare minimum, payment options like Zelle or Venmo, but it is what it is. This wouldn't be my first choice, but if you're in the area and want some comfort food, then at least give it a try. It gets the job done.
Good food. Not sure why ppl give them bad reviews… Salted pepper pork chops, broccoli beef and baked pork chops are our go tos and consistent.
Excellent place to hang out and have tea. They sell really good Hong Kong style milk tea. The evenings are not that crowded. The food is also good. Parking is difficult nearby. The staff is very friendly.
Went there for Lunch today and the taste of the food was not bad. First we ordered the Mongolian beef over rice and it should really be called onion over rice it barely had any meat. We also ordered Chicken chow Mein and it was thin hard noodles not the chow mein I was expecting. To top it off it is cash only which I already knew but when we got the check we got charged a 15% service charge it was just 2 of us and no where is it posted that they charge a service fee. It would be nice if they would let you know ahead of time. The servers are rude and never checked on us once,
Good is OK, but too little on each dish for the price they charge for, and the staff's manner are little too mean, no smile or what so ever, not too friendly, feels like they no longer want work there to serve customers, That has to be change, specially most of the customer are here spend money and that area is hard to find a parking spot. And spend over $60 still can't fill up 2 people's stomach.
