About 24 Suns

Located at 3375 Mission Ave J in Oceanside, CA, 24 Suns presents a unique dining experience that goes beyond traditional Chinese cuisine. While categorized as a Chinese restaurant platform, customer reviews suggest it operates more as a fine dining establishment with Chinese culinary influences, emphasizing local and seasonal ingredients with a rotating menu every two weeks.

The atmosphere of 24 Suns is described as "higher end but with a livelier vibe," making it suitable for business casual attire. However, the exterior and location might be misleading, as one reviewer noted it doesn't outwardly appear to be a fine dining restaurant. Inside, the ambiance is characterized by dim lighting and a significant presence of incense and floral aromas.

The service at 24 Suns has been generally praised as "very friendly and timely to our eating pace." The staff seems attentive to providing a refined dining experience.

A key feature of 24 Suns is its approach to food, with dishes designed for sharing. Customers are advised to order at least two dishes per person, along with tea, to fully experience the meal. The menu aims for multiple layers of flavor in each dish. Standout items mentioned in reviews include the "Brown Butter Fried Chicken," described as "truly out of this world savory," and the duck, which was also well-received.

However, it's important to note that some customers found the portion sizes to be small relative to the price. Dishes like the "shrimp robuchan" and the "brown butter fried chicken" were reported to have only two or three pieces. One reviewer also found the "lamb leg yi mein" to be the least enjoyable of the dishes ordered.

Patrons looking to manage costs are advised to look for potential coupons on platforms like the In-Kind app or consider purchasing gift cards from Costco. The price point is generally higher, aligning with a fine dining experience, with one meal for two costing around $96 before tips.

In summary, 24 Suns offers a distinctive, upscale dining experience with a Chinese-inspired menu that focuses on seasonal and local ingredients. It is recommended for special events or those seeking a departure from typical Chinese restaurants. However, potential diners should be aware of the smaller portion sizes and higher prices associated with this fine dining concept.

We found this place on the In-Kind app. I highly recommend you wait for a coupon or grab some gift cards from Costco to help reduce the cost. You'll want to order at least 2 dishes per person with the intent to share, as well as some tea. There were about two portions per plate. This was my second Michelin level restaurant and it didn't fail to deliver. Every dish had multiple layers of flavor that went well together. We splurged a bit on the duck which was very good, but by far the best dish was the Brown Butter Fried Chicken. Truly out of this world savory. They have a rotating menu every 2 weeks targeting local and seasonal ingredients so we'll definitely be back to try other seasons. The service was very friendly and timely to our eating pace. The atmosphere is definitely higher end but with a livelier vibe, you can get away with business casual for sure. Definitely worth checking out for an important event or if you want to try some fancy Chinese food, there's not many other spots here in SD that offer this.

My friend and I were looking for Chinese food so I searched Chinese food near me. This was one of the top results on google so we figured we’d give it a try. Little did we know it was a fine dining Chinese “inspired” restaurant… it’s kind of our fault for not looking more into this place but I still expected the food the be good since the reviews were decent. Oh how wrong we were. The only thing that kept us chugging was the $12 pot of tea to cleanse our taste buds after every bite we had to take. We ordered 4 items including the tea which was: The shrimp robuchan $19, brown butter fried chicken $23, and the lamb leg yi mein $35. In total plus tax we paid $96.38. Which is 48.19 between 2 people… I wouldnt of have been bothered by the price if the food tasted good but on top of that the portions were tiny. For the shrimp we got 2 pcs, the chicken 2 or 3 pcs. Maybe the yi mein was okay to share but it was definitely the worst tasting dish out of the 3. And we were told it was supposed to be shared items… One more thing you’d never do expect this place to be a fine dining restaurant from the outside and due to its location. We thought it was going to be some cheap buffet style takeout from the looks of it on the outside but instead inside it was a dimly lit restaurant with a crazy amount of incense and floral aromas punching u in the face. I know Im bashing this place but overall I’m glad I’ve got to share experience this place it was a unique and funny experience I’ll remember for a long time.

Thoroughly enjoyed everything I ordered. I could tell the chefs put their heart into each dish. My taste buds were dancing, there truly isn’t anything like this in these parts. Our server Anna was incredible, she made us feel right at home. I will definitely be coming back. Still haven’t stopped talking about my experience here!

What a great new spot in an unassuming strip mall. The decor is nice. The food was excellent and the service was amazing. It was a pleasure to meet Kyle the wine sommelier as well. Michelin quality food without the Michelin prices. Nice twist on Chinese Asian Fusion.

Absolutely blown away by 24 Suns. You can feel how much pride the kitchen takes in every dish—everything was thoughtful, balanced, and just flat-out delicious. The 5-Way Duck is a must. Every bite was dialed in, and each preparation brought something totally unique to the plate. For dessert, the black sesame pudding was unreal—deep, nutty, and not too sweet. Service was on point from start to finish. The team was well-informed, super friendly, and clearly passionate about what they’re serving. You can tell this place is run by people who care about doing things right.
