Good China Star
We really enjoy coming here. It's super cheap. Big portions. Sometimes food is a little bit bland but still worth eating. We have been here many times and quality and taste is consistently good. For a quick cheap bite to fill a hole in your stomach I highly recommend this place. If you want delicious, high quality Chinese food than this is not the place to go Over all, we recommend coming here when on a budget. Friendly staff that are here all the time. Hard working family that deserves your business. I would give 5 stars but food, even though is good is just not on 5 a start level.
The food here is better than your average Chinese American takeout fare. Not too dry, not too wet. Not over sweetened. The carrots, peas in rice appear fresh and the fried egg is a nice touch, too.
Bamboo Garden Chinese Restaurant
Probably the best spot to stop at if you’re vegan and in the Twentynine Palms area. The portions are huge and the prices are fair, and it’s probably one of the last places before you get further west into California where rice comes with your meal free of charge. It’s a comfy space with friendly people, too. I came twice during my week in town.
Great little spot for Chinese food. We ordered the appetizer plate for 2 and I ordered Mongolian beef with fried rice. There was ample amount of food left over. Staff was very friendly and was available anytime. The place started getting busy after we arrived and it was a pleasure to see this business thriving in this time and age. Prices were definitely reasonable for tge quality and quantity of what was served. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some yummy eats!! **** they do not served any adult beverages ******
Panda Express
After a four hour long drive, I decided to stop at Panda Express with my mom to grab something to eat. I ordered teriyaki chicken, steak and shrimp, and a half-and-half side of chow mein and super greens. When I asked for the super greens, I noticed there weren’t any in the tray. The manager (or who I assume is the manager, since he’s always in a different shirt and usually directing the team whenever I visit) told me there would be a bit of a wait, but they’d be ready soon. I told him that was fine. He then called over to two employees on the grill and let them know he needed super greens. That’s when things got a little odd—they immediately started complaining and saying something back to him (I couldn’t make out what). Naturally, I was watching because I was confused. You're on the grill, you’re supposed to be cooking sides and entrees, and a customer requested something you offer—so why the attitude? It honestly didn’t make sense. Anyway, my mom paid for the food, and we reminded the cashier that our order included super greens. She told us, “Oh, they already put them in your plate.” That was surprising, because the manager had just said they needed to be cooked. When I got home and opened my plate, I found only three small pieces of broccoli and a single piece of cabbage. It was disappointing, especially because I come here enough and almost always get chow mein and super greens so I know the portions. I don’t expect a huge portion, but at least a reasonable amount—especially when I’m paying for a side that’s meant to be vegetables. To make things worse, the broccoli I did get was barely even cooked. Honestly, I think I’ll be taking a break from this location for a while. I could’ve gone to China Star down the street, gotten more food, no attitude, and spent less money—even if they had to cook it fresh.
Made the mistake of visiting this Panda Express. I ordered one thing and was sent home with another. I highly recommend skipping the drive thru because they will mess everything up. Food quality was laughable and the comprehension skills of the employees was a joke. Just go to Taco Bell it’s in the same plaza.
