Food not that good. The wait is long. Took them a long time to come take order. The curry pork skin taste old and no flavor. The porridge supposed to have pork skin but there is none. Portion of porridge small and water down. The soup noodle barely give you any soup. So little lemon in lemon tea. Will not recommend this place.

Update in 2025: The second time I came here was on a Sunday breakfast/brunch time. They have an iPad to sign up/check-in as they were packed. I was waiting in the back closer to the parking lot entrance. However, the host has been skipping my number and has been calling people who arrived after me. I finally went to her and asked her. She was not very nice, nonchalant, and disrespectful by saying “I called you!” I told her that I have been standing here, but did not hear my number if she can give me to next available table. She then gave me the table next to the exit where everyone was waiting. We ordered porridge and a fried noodle. However, food had lack of flavor. Highly suggest that they manage their quality control and service, especially during business hours. 2024 4 stars: Came here for the first time because I want to try their ovaltine french toast. We parked on Las Tunas, and there was plenty of parking when we arrived. We were seated promptly. I love the decorations. They put a lot of old Hong Kong elements in this restaurant. Also they use a special folding table and Orange plastic bowl, chopsticks, and plates, which reminded me of 大排擋. We ordered Hong Kong style sweet and sour pork, pan fried udon with beef in black pepper sauce, and 7up with salted lime. The food tasted very authentic! Reminds me of home. We ordered ovaltine french toast as dessert. It is something new to me that I have never had, and it turns out tasty! Services was good, and servers are friendly. Will be back again.

The people were nice, but there's no way I'm paying for cold food. I'd understand if it was right befopre closing or an odd hour, but it's 3:00 p.m. on a Sunday and I started eating within one minute of it being served... Like how is it 70° outside, but my food is colder than the ambient temperature? Won't be back

The welcoming staff and enormous portions make this place a great value. Their extended hours until 8:30 are convenient, and I've been impressed by their willingness to accommodate late orders.

Excited to try this new restaurant.

JIAO Club in Rosemead, a new Chinese restaurant specializing in Beijing-style cuisine, opened its doors today, and as someone who lived and worked in Beijing for years, I was excited to check it out. The menu features classics I love, like Napa cabbage in sweet vinegar, twice-cooked pork belly, fried bean noodles, and Kung Pao chicken. Unfortunately, no Peking Duck was available on opening day due to their roasting furnace not being ready, which was a letdown. We ordered a variety of dishes to test their authenticity, and most delivered. The Kung Pao chicken, with its subtle sweet vinegar kick, was a highlight, and the steamed cabbage with garlic and vermicelli was spot-on, full of flavor. However, the fried bean noodles missed the mark—the fried bean sauce lacked that distinct Beijing taste I was craving. Service was a strong point; the servers were friendly, attentive, and quick despite the opening-day buzz. The decor feels Beijing style yet cozy, fitting for a casual Beijing-style meal. They’re also handing out scratch cards for a free dish on your next visit, which is a nice touch. Prices seem fair for the portion sizes. While the fried bean noodles disappointed, the other dishes showed promise, and I’m eager to return once their Peking Duck is ready to see if they can fully capture Beijing’s culinary spirit.

The food is really delicious and authentic, definitely be back order more . The service is really friendly.

Wow! This not your usual smokehouse or Chinese BBQ place. It is amazing *if* you like MaLa spice. This was our first time here and we got a few things to try (and loved them all!). First, we got some quail eggs - deliciously smoked. Probably the most traditional and expected taste of them all. Wonderful. Next, smoked sliced lotus root. They are dark and moist, but crispy and delightfully MaLa, just a little numbing, again, wonderful. Lastly, we tried one of their green peppercorn chickens. These are small, dark birds, but what flavor! I was speechless as I ate my first leg and thigh. What an amazing flavor, unlike anything I’ve ever had before. My wife couldn’t stop praising it and I couldn’t find words. There are so many more things to try, we will be back again (steamed dumplings next!). The woman who helped us was so bright and kind and was very patient with us as she answered all our questions. Be brave, try a small amount of one of their many dishes and you will be coming back too! (sorry no pix of the chicken, we ate it before I thought of writing a review) UPDATE: Feb 2, 2024 Stopped in for lunch and got a bunch of stuff! This is our third visit so I thought I’d do an update. Today we tried some of their bread food and the chicken soup. Shepherd’s Purse and pork steamed dumplings. Disappointing. Our homemade ones are much better and Kingberg Kitchen up the road are also much better - you can actually taste the veggie. They are also very small. Pork and Green Onion Bao. Tasted very good and were very juicy, but . . . No green onions Chicken Soup. Best dish on the table! Rice noodles were well cooked and the broth was very good. I had two small bowls but then it started to get too salty for me. Overall, just ok today. Not everything on the printed menu is available every day, so be prepared to be disappointed! I still think it worth a visit as this type of food is very good and hard to find.

Our friends told us this is the best Chinese restaurant in LA area, so naturally we must give it try. I am generally not too keen on trying highly publicized places as most were overhyped, nonetheless, I came here with a wide open mind. Thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed, it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in LA area by a wide margin. Let’s start with the decor, which resembles an old time tea house from China with period furnishing and decorations. A nice touch. Next, the service was excellent, my tea cup was never empty for long and dishes were explained clearly. Finally, the food. I must say most dishes are common, but I could taste each ingredient distinctly and all ingredients were very fresh. The final dessert plate of 8 different items of 4 pieces each was very intriguing, but on the pricy side. The leek buns (韭菜盒子)was excellent with its very thin crust and simple but tasty fillings. The deep fried shiitake mushroom was something new for us and we totally enjoyed the dish. The cold appetizers were very well made as well. The boneless drunken chicken wings were very good. All in all, an excellent experience dinning here.

We had one of the private rooms. The service was attentive. They did last call on the early side, it was week night but during the Holiday season. Food is good, with very nice presentations. Yes it is on the expensive side for Chinese food, if you want no frills there's other places to go. However for a special occassion we thoroughly enjoyed it. Knowing what it is, a solid experience overall. It's Michelin mentioned/rated/starred, and that accounts for something, if cost conscious then take that into consideration.

Invited by a friend, we were there at around 2pm to have late lunch, yet we still waited for about 5m for a table. This place is so popular that by 4:30pm there were already ppl lining up waiting outside of the restaurant waiting to get in before they re-open after their daily break between 2:30pm to 5pm! The kitchen stopped taking order at 2:30pm daily yet the servicing staff was still there helping us. The food is delicious! Best of all, the edamame, the miso soup and rice are all free and you can ask for free refill as well. Price of the dishes are very fair as well. Strongly recommended! Will be worth the waiting!

Extra! Extra! $11.99 menu lunch /dinner is a bargain ! My favorite is the 3 flavor squid! So different and delicious! That was the dish that got me hooked! Nice quiet ambiance! Definitely a hidden gem!!

If you’re a fan of spicy food, this place is a must-visit! The Sichuan dishes here are absolutely incredible – packed with bold flavors, numbing spice, and just the right amount of heat. Every bite was bursting with that signature Sichuan kick. I especially loved how authentic everything tasted – it’s the kind of food that makes you sweat a little, but you can’t stop eating. Highly recommend for anyone who loves real, flavorful Chinese cuisine!

So yummy! This restaurant, recommended by a friend, was truly a delight! The menu is very diverse and the food is just too good! The stir-fried green peppers with baked skin is especially delicious!

A really nice and spacious restaurant with super efficient and friendly service. The waiting staff would bring us things before we even ask. Food is generous portion and sizes.

Dim sum, cha chaan teng(Hong Kong style cafe) are well known around the world, but I think the iconic typhoon shelter style cuisine deserves to be famous too! Believe me or not, you will always have your thumbs up when you try typhoon shelter crab/lobster/prawn/clams, dishes full of aromatic fried seafood. This restaurant did a good job on the food. However, I hope they can be careful about the noise. When I dined in, there’s a staff member playing TikTok videos loudly through the speaker on his phone.

Ordered beef needle, shanxi knife cut fried noodles and saliva chicken. Flavor is 100% what you get in Taiwan. Price and portion is not bad! Recommend all dishes.

Knife shaved noodle are the best!! Their food portion is huge, service is decent. The pot sticker was okay average. If you love noodle and dumplings and Chinese pancakes, this place is a must try!

The waitresses work hard and efficiently. The Chinese food is consistently delicious. The customers are usually Chinese/Taiwanese. Do yourself a favor and try their food! Recommendations: Beef Roll Combination Fried Rice Cake Tea (to wash the palate afterwards) The photo is proof of how much I enjoyed the combination fried rice cake ;)

It is one of those authentic Chinese restaurants in the SG area. You will be able to find tasty northern Chinese noodles and pies. Nothing bad so far.

Absolutely a good place to go for authentic Chinese cuisine, fresh ingredients with genuine flavour and pretty reasonable prices. A must try of their milk pudding, it’s really good!

I believe Bay Garden Café is underrated for its authentic Cantonese food and HK café cuisine. Despite being around for over 6+ years, the place doesn't seem as crowded as it used to be. They offer a great selection of Cantonese dishes, and their service is consistently fast. The pricing is very reasonable considering the generous portions of food you receive. The dishes are authentic, flavorful, and made with fresh ingredients. However, I must deduct one star due to the very dirty restrooms and old glasses/dishware. Quick tips: Parking is available right behind the restaurant, which is shared with other shops in the same plaza. Street parking is also an option. They offer a lunch special from 8 am to 3 pm daily at a very reasonable price. While many people may be drawn to the new Alice’s Kitchen (one of the best HK cafés in the area) across the street, I encourage giving Bay Garden Café a try if you're looking for something different. You might discover something you like even better at Bay Garden Café.

Interesting new place. Not sure why they chose this name, but the food is decent! Once you past the front section, there's a courtyard where you grab other items and rice [self-serve section]. Nice furniture and decor! Worth a shot! I'd come back again.

I recently dined at Red Lantern Restaurant, and it was a delightful experience. The ambiance was cozy and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a family dinner. The menu offers a wide range of authentic Chinese dishes. I particularly enjoyed the Steamed Fish, which was fresh and flavorful, truly reflecting the essence of traditional Chinese cuisine. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking genuine Chinese flavors in a warm and inviting setting.
