Dumpling Zone
We were actually going somewhere else that ended up closing for the day after we drove to that side of town, and looked in Google for an alternative and came across this gem. The dumplings were spectacular, the pea shoots, also great and we got hot and sour soup which was yummy and very peppery, which was a bit different, but great none the less. The waiter (possibly owner) was delightful, the portions large and the food, everything, 5 stars. Hole in the wall atmosphere, which to me added, not subtracted, from the charm, and very clean.
Super fast service and so friendly. You order from the QR code at your table and I liked the convenience of that for checkout time too. All the food was consistently delicious, nothing was lacking in flavor or dimension! All of the meats in each dish were seasoned well and had wonderful texture. The shop is small and quiet with a mom and pop shop vibe. I personally think it added to the experience by highlighting the food and not distracting with anything flashy. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for something comforting, delicious, and really cheap for the excellent quality of the experience.
Ming Kee Restaurant
Tried roasted squab for the first time, and it was surprisingly tasty! It had a very interesting texture, incredibly similar to liver. If you like liver, you’ll like this. It’s worth a try! I also had the sesame rice balls for dessert, and they were really good - would recommend! I wouldn’t go out of my way for anything here, but it’s not worth going out of your way if you’re already here. Oh, and the general tso was really good, 8 out of 10.
Its a to go place but a few locals find a little spot to eat inside. The bbq pork is really good. If your order the rice plate comes with a side of boiled lettuce and the ginger garlic dressing. So good. For $11.00 cash. You can eat half and save the other half later. Got lucky the line was short but they are fairly fast. Unfortunately, no parking around unless you take the K or the 29. Or park a few blocks in the neighborhood.
Golden China Restaurant
This place has always been a neighborhood favorite, great service along with many delicious choices to choose from. Definitely will be back!
Nothing special; overpriced Chinese food, in my opinion; most/all dishes come out noticeably soggy.
Wang Wah
We accidentally found this place on Ocean Ave. It has a different name out front and kind of looks like a Chinese restaurant from decades ago. But the woman working there was friendly (she's been at it since 1985) and it's veg-friendly, so I gave it a go. The food was served fast and hot, the portions were huge (we took home for another meal), and it was delicious (kung pao tofu and friend green beans). I'm eager to go back to try more veg dishes!
Huge variety on the menu, but the basics and my favorites like BBQ Pork Fried Rice, BBQ Pork Chow Mein, Broccoli Beef, and this incredible soup I forget the name of are all delicious and well made. The portions are very generous the couple who own the place are incredibly friendly. Looking forward to trying out more of the things on the menu. Highly recommended if you're in this part of the neighborhood.
Lazy Susan
A gluten free haven! Most items are GF as-is (please know that the restaurantis not 100% gluten free). I've been here multiple times now; the food is always flavorful and piping hot. My favorite has been the orange chicken, and the sesame and General Tso's is delicious too. My non-GF guests did not know it was GF either! My new favorite spot in the city
I enjoyed the food that I got delivered from here. This place makes an alright Sesame and General Tso’s Chicken, though the Sesame Chicken is very ginger-y
Snow Bliss Cafe
Snow Bliss restaurant is brightly lit. You can read a book in there. We came by after dinner to get some shaved ice. We had the mango bingsu $17, coffee bingsu $17, Thai Tea bingsu $17, matcha bingsu $17. My friends enjoyed it. Their menu is 1/2 half dessert snack shop and 1/2 Chinese food. Service was fine. It did take a while for the last shaved ice to come out. We were done with the previous desserts when it came out.
Fun and unexpected! Friendly staff! The bingsu is amazing! Shaved ice dessert! We enjoyed the mango one—ice cream, big mango pieces, shaved flavored ice with Fruit Loops and syrup! It’s heavenly without being too heavy or sweet! Highly recommend! Will be back to try all the flavors!
Sing Siu Zai Min
I would say bland....Wakaru has better Ramen for similar price...good broth energizes the body...dumplings didn't have much flavor for the price point. This place would be great of they make it into a bar but with small nightmarket dishes...
I was looking for a ramen spot for lunch after the Zoo and stumbled on Sing Siu Zai Min. They have a ramen menu and a dim sum / Hong Kong style menu. We got the Brisket Ramen and Xiao Long Bao, both were excellent! The brisket ramen has a clear, clean broth that was flavorful with a perfect, slightly sweet aftertaste. The restaurant itself is very clean and modern, much more so than other Asian restaurants in the area. The presentation of the food was fantastic. I know my way around the Sunset chinese food scene and think this will be our go-to for the near future. Also talked with the owner Kevin. Super nice and personable. They just opened last week and will be expanding the Hong Kong side of the menu soon. Can't wait to try!
Golden Coast Restaurant
Golden Coast serves authentic Cantonese Cuisine, Dim Sum & Steam Hot Pot which was my first time experiencing. You picked out the fresh seafood, meats & vegetables and the server will cooked it at your table in a hot pot by steam, you will enjoy each item individually and end up with an extremely delicious rice porridge at the bottom with all the fragrance from the ingredients that you picked out earlier. It is a very healthy and tasty cooking technique originated from Southern China. Is a MUST try.
Been here many times for dinner, they’ve a vast menu that includes a lot of authentic Chinese cuisine. The service was great and food was good.
Tsing's Chinese Restaurant
Loved the fried rice and rice stick noodles! My husband loves the won ton soup. It's a clean restaurant with a nice quiet vibe and never too many customers. The service was great and the food came out quickly. They also have lunch specials!
I love this place. Great tasting food and great quality. The service is very good and it’s the kind of place that you know is going to be yummy run by a Chinese family.
