**A Fusion Experience Led by Chef Ge's Expertise** Chef Ge, with his background working in Japan, brings a unique perspective to Shanghainese fine dining, seamlessly blending Japanese precision with Chinese boldness. His mastery of Japanese techniques is evident in the refined presentation and delicate balance of flavors in each dish, from perfectly seared seafood to meticulously plated vegetable courses. Chef Ge’s time in Japan has clearly influenced his approach, adding subtle umami notes and an emphasis on seasonal ingredients to the traditional richness of Shanghainese cuisine. The result is a harmonious fusion that elevates both culinary traditions, creating an unforgettable dining experience for those seeking innovation and elegance in every bite.
Wow! Really serious traditional and yet cutting edge high end Chinese food in San Francisco. Reservations only, Tuesday and Wednesday only for the time being.
San Wang Restaurant
I understand this is a traditional Chinese restaurant. I visited based on a friend's recommendation, but I'm not sure if it suits my taste. I ordered jajangmyeon and jjamppong. While the vegetables and seafood were plentiful and fresh compared to the overall portion size, the noodles were rough, and the flavor was bland.
Clean, fresh, high-quality, and authentic Korean-Chinese food with a nice atmosphere. This family-owned business takes pride in fine cuts of meat and seafood. The sizzling rice soup surprises with succulent shrimp, water chestnuts, and scallops. The Tangsuyuk pork had large pieces of pineapple and wood ear mushrooms. The Mapa tofu was not too greasy. It was a much nicer experience than many of the other places in Jtown with a hour-long wait list.
