House of Nanking
We came here at dinner time around 8pm and got seated right away. We got the Sesame Noodles, the Sesame chicken, steamed pork dumplings and Wonton soup. I had totally forgot that you can ask the servers to pick for you, I would have done that if I remembered. I recommend the Sesame Chicken, it was 12/10 and the Wonton Soup, it is very different from all wonton soups I’ve ever had, the soup was silky smooth, and it was served with toasted rice in the soup I think? It was amazing. The Sesame noodles didn’t stand out for me, it reminds me of Spaghetti noodles fusion type, it was okay, same with the steamed pork dumplings. I did noticed most of their customers were non-Asians, maybe this place is more geared towards that demographic, the food is a little salty in my opinion. Service was very quick, fast and efficient. Staffs are super friendly and nice. I would come back again to try the Sizzling rice and the sesame chicken again—which according to my boyfriend, the best he’s ever had, and he is from SoCal. I tend to have my bias towards more authentic traditional type of food, but this was definitely a hit. I would want to go try out his daughter’s restaurant, House of Fang for the modernized Chinese style as well
Super bomb Chinese food! Loved the Honey Apple Chicken dish (the apples are insane), the Scallion Pancake and the Sesame Tofu. So good we went two days in a row. Great atmosphere and the fire comes out so fast.
R & G Lounge
I found this place through Google Maps recommendations and I want to tell you that it was a unique experience since we arrived. It is the best Cantonese restaurant in San Francisco. We arrived around 8 pm and we didn't have to wait. They took us to the underground part, which is an experience since it seems like you are entering another city. The service was excellent because the waiter was very patient since my English is not the best and he helped me choose the dishes. They welcomed us with tea, which they were very careful to serve. Afterwards, we ordered the duck, which was delicious, and the prawns with honey walnuts, which I also highly recommend because the combination of flavors is wonderful. The dessert was also delicious. Overall, I highly recommend the restaurant because you will eat very well and in a unique way.
Was in town for a weekend. The hotel manager highly recommended this spot. The service was really good. Everyone was very friendly. We didn't have a reservation,it was raining and the place was packed. Fortunately there was just two of us so we were sat at small table for two with no problem. Food was better than most of the Chinese food places we've been to in the last several years. The fried rice actually had flavor and was one of the best I've had in recent times. It was Golden Rice. The lemon chicken had good flavor but was overcooked and chewy. Our favorite was a house specialty called Three treasures with black bean sauce. It was chefs kiss, top tier! Would go back just for that and the rice.
Hon's Wun-Tun House
Walking through Chinatown made us crave a comfort food, wonton soup. Hon's looked like it would foot the bill. There is an extensive menu with a variety of traditional Chinese dishes, but we specifically came for wonton soup and scallion pancakes. The wonton were very good and as we had anticipated. The noodles were also a nice texture and thickness. The broth though wasn't as flavorful. I liken it to tasting like dishwater if I knew what dishwater tasted like -- bland and an amalgamation of whatever was thrown in it. Nonetheless, the wonton and noodles were good enough to make up for it. The scallion pancakes are always a must to order when they are on the menu and these didn't disappoint. Crisp, but soft and chewy. The perfect accompaniment. We also ordered a salt and pepper tofu appetizer which was okay. We prefer it to have more fried garlic. Not bad though. Service was efficient and helpful. We ordered right away and the food came out promptly after. They are attentive with refilling water and fulfilling any requests. The wait time was also not bad even on a Sunday. They seem to manage and turn tables quickly. Overall a good experience. Only a more flavorful broth would give this review 5 stars.
We didn't come here at rush time so easily to get a table but if come here at busy time; be prepared to get in line. Store is small but really cozy and clean. Foods are delicious and well seasoned. It really gives a taste of a traditional Chinese noodles. Highly recommended. Take out also a good option if you are in rush.
The Garden Restaurant
Wonderful restaurant that took me back to my childhood. Great BBQ pork and Orange chicken. Hot tea. The crab rangoon were substantial and had real crab. Service was fast and friendly, and many locals came in to get food and chat with the staff, lending to the wonderful atmosphere.
We decided to stop here after walking around a bit. I am glad we did! I ordered Kung Pao Chicken which was very tasty! My wife ordered Beef Mongolian. She liked it but said some meat was a little rubbery. We also ordered crab rangoon but they came out fairly cold and after our meal, instead of an appetizer. Not sure why but explains the temperature. The staff was great but did have to remind them to get water and then refills. I am not sure they are used to people drinking so much water. But they attended well and were nice. They also gave us some delicious soup on the house and some tea. Overall it was a good lunch for under $50.
Toppu Ramen And Dim Sum House
Fast friendly service, clean and spacious. Food was hot and tasted fresh. The soup dumplings and chicken fried rice were both very flavorful!
We got lucky! Got seated right away, food was excellent. Only wished the portion size was a little larger. We had the San Francisco chicken udon, tonkasu ramen and unagi fried rice.
