Chef Zhu 老正兴
The food was superb. The menu is very large with a wide variety of dim sum, familiar, Americanized, Chinese food, and food that seemed much more authentic. There was plenty here for the vegans in the group and several tofu dishes. The service was pleasant and attentive. The vegetable Mushu was unremarkable. What truly shined was the dishes with sautéed vegetables. The tofu and mushroom dish had several different kinds of mushrooms and a delicious soy based sauce. The tofu and greens dish had bok choy leaves and also mustard greens. The vegetables were just done to the point where the flavors were fantastic. As far as the noodle dish, it was wonderful but one of us found a piece of what looked like metal wire in the dish. We obviously did not finish it and appropriately. They made us another one to take with us. They gave us some sesame balls for dessertgiven our experience. It is hard for me to downgrade them much for this given how good the food was. I want to say again that if you do not eat meat, the flavors of the vegetables were incredible. White rice, which is generally included was $1.50 per small ball and I didn’t feel that this should be charged for.
So glad we found this place. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was great! Our favorites were the NY Style egg rolls! So good!!! Other favorites were the green beans, pork fried rice, pan fried noodles, and the dumplings. Portion size is large so it’s plenty for all!
Joyee's Dumpling House-Torrey Highlands
Wonderful Chinese dumpling restaurant. Nice Chinese restaurant with a bit of everything: dumplings, noodles, rice dishes, etc... All the dishes are delicious. While the restaurant makes tasty dumplings, I am partial to their Fried Rice Noodle with Beef dish. Their pork buns are good, and they have boba! Nice restaurant that serves homemade tasting food.
Joyee Dumpling House offers a versatile menu with lunch and dinner options on weekdays, and special breakfast items on weekends. Located in a cozy plaza, it has both indoor and outdoor seating, providing a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. It's quite popular—I had to wait about 15 minutes for my pick-up order, which speaks to its demand! One of the highlights is the Jian Bing, a traditional Chinese pancake. You can customize the spice level to your preference and choose from various add-ons like lettuce, pork sausage, and marinated beef. It’s a perfect blend of flavors and textures. The Henan Fried Buns are another favorite—soft, doughy buns filled with pork, offering a satisfying bite with crispy base. Pair them with soy sauce and vinegar for an extra kick. I can't wait to return and try their lunch and dinner options next time!
