China Dragon 2
This was my first time at this location and it was great. Generous portions and it was better than my local place. I ordered the orange chicken and Kung Pao chicken lunch specials to go and my family really liked them. This is now my go to place. Egg rolls were just the way I like them and the egg drop soup was good too.
Family of 4 - myself and son split the All you can eat Sushi, while my husband and daughter split a couple of the Chinese entrees. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Everything we received came out fresh and delicious. Everyone left full and satisfied with their meals! I think this might be a new favorite spot. There was a lot of food we wanted to try and can't wait to come back to try more!
Al's Drive In
Got here to grab a bite so it's a cash-only joint but they have an ATM on location that charges $3 to get some bread. I went with an Italian Beef w/ nacho cheese, dipped w/ hot peppers. Two chicken egg rolls and small beef fried rice. Started with egg rolls they were cool 7.2 decent flavor but just okay. Next, the beef fried rice again was alright tbh not great but mid not sure they using a wok back there cuz some was a little off with the rice 7.3. The star of the show was the Italian Beef which is a certified banger 🔥🔥🔥🔥 9.7. It was a juicy mess and loved it... the beef with nacho cheese plus peppers was delicious. Wish they put a little more beef on the sandwich but minus that it was on point. Overall the spot is an 8.5, I'll only come back for the Italian Beef and can get better Chinese food elsewhere in the city.
If you read any of the reviews for Al's Drive In online, people have a ton of nostalgia for this place. I find nostalgia for a restaurant can play a negative role for those who don't have the association, but that wasn't the case for me who only ate here for the first time today. The Chicago dog and super taco were solid but the combination fried rice was the hero for me. Never thought l'd find this kind of wok hei flavor from a Chicago Red Hots institution in Maywood, IL that would remind me so much of the fried rice I grew up with at my Chinese immigrant family's restaurant in Arizona. Honestly just throw in some bean sprouts and you'd have a 1:1 copy. I may not have the same nostalgia that a lot of the usuals have with Al's, but that familiar taste of home is so present in every bite of this fried rice. I'm immediately transported to teenage me devouring a large combination fried rice at my own family's restaurant after working a full day's 12hr shift in the summer and immediately passing out in my bed when I got home. I wish I had started coming here sooner.
101 Asian Fusion
Ive been coming here for almost two years now so I hate making a bad review. Favorite place to get beef and broccoli. The sauce was thick and would coat/seeped into the florets of the broccoli. Immaculate flavor. The last two times I’ve ordered my favorite dish they’ve came with a strange aftertaste and well to be sitting in nothing but oily broth. Broccoli remains half uncooked. The initial flavor lacks as the bad aftertaste is strong. I made contact via phone call to ask if recipes have been changed or it maybe it was made incorrectly. I was met with lack of communication other than “we haven’t change the recipe and we still have the same chef so I’m not sure” that was the gist of the phone call. No compensation of any sort. I would at least appreciate a refund as it was up to even the standard the restaurant would usually put out. I’m just disappointed to say the least.
Great little hole in the wall. Their chicken Pad Thai was very soft and juicy and their Sesame Chicken was a solid 4/5! The Crab Rangoon was pretty good too! Would go here again.
Blue Ocean Robata & Sushi Bar
Blue Ocean is my new favorite sushi spot in North County! We went for a happy hour on my birthday and were blown away by the quality and quantity of each of their dishes. The tomago nigiri was A+ perfectly seasoned and the wakame is soooo tasty. The rest of the nigiri was perfect and as expected for top notch fish. The rice was also perfectly seasoned. The crispy shrimp was plump and perfectly covered in a sweet and savory sauce. We tried two skewers - the pork with pineapple and the steak. Both were superb. I think I liked the pork one a little better because the pineapple was a perfect foil for the juicy pork. The birthday chocolate cake with a savory caramel and crispy amaranth was sublime. Not too sweet with lots of complexity. This isn’t our first time nor will it be the last time. If you want truly exceptional sushi and skewers. This is the place to go. Don’t sleep on the soup as well - it’s rich, dotted with tiny mushrooms, and very satisfying. There is plenty of parking in the lot or nearby. They also have drink specials weekly - I highly recommend the whiskey Wednesday!
Hands down the BEST, freshest, most flavorful food I’ve had in a very long time. Additionally, the environment is extremely pleasant and lively, but also not too loud. We ordered the Kaboconut Soup, filet + pineapple robata, Amberjack Carpaccio, and Marine Boy roll. As well as the Pina Verde (WOW) and the cucumber Saketini. We will 1000% be back every time we’re in town because I would love to try more items on their delicious and diverse menu! Lastly, thank you Meimei for being an awesome server!
New Century Buffet
All you can eat Chinese buffet at a greta price and service. I’ve never seen a Chinese with so much choice and food, there was so many dishes to choose from and also sweet desserts. Friendly staff and drink top ups were supplied quickly. Takeaway options looked good having just to be given a box to fill with what you want.
We recently found out about this place, and since we like to try everything/anything new, we came to check it out. We were not disappointed. This place is great. Great and tasty variety of food, friendly staff, clean and neat place. You name it. We highly recommend it to anyone who likes asian cuisine.
Hong Kong Wok
Delicious food, great service, and cozy atmosphere. I recommend this place to anyone who loves Chinese food. The food is amazingly tasty. The service is polite and to the point. The atmosphere feels like being at a restaurant from your childhood.
Spontaneously stopped by to get some food and was quite surprised. It’s bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Service was quick and my to go rice was very good and not greasy
Ho Ho Chinese Food
Today I had a two item combo orange chicken and barbecue pork all lo mein I would give it five stars but my lo mein was not real hot and same with my orange chicken but I did get a couple pieces that were really hot and they were absolutely delicious I only eat half anyway so I’m gonna reheat it tomorrow and put it all together and it’s gonna be freaking killer The girl was very busy she handled herself well not to mention she’s really cute I wish I was younger recommend this place I will be back for sure Rock on Ho ho! G
The food is delicious. We got our favorite items including...coconut shrimp, orange chicken, and broccoli beef. Along with fried rice and lo mein noodles. The lady that helped us was friendly.
Chef Chen's
My wife and I have acquired food from the drive through many times and have always enjoyed the food so we decided to try dinning in for lunch. We arrived around 12 noon and were immediately seated. It took us a few minutes to decide from the vast choices on the menu. My wife ordered the Hunan Chicken and I ordered the House Special Chicken. We were a little disappointed they had no tea of any kind so we got bottled water. The food came quickly and was hot and fresh. The egg rolls were great but didn't come with any sauce. We had paper napkins and a fork to eat with, no chopsticks. The restaurant was quiet, no music or loud noises from the kitchen. The atmosphere was a little cozy and professional at the same time. All of the food was quite yummy. There were some interesting plants in the windows that the owners have taken care of for years and everything inside was very clean including the restrooms. The owners operate the restaurant themselves and are very nice folks. Dined in on Wednesday December 11, 2024
This probably gas the best Chinese Food I have had since moving to TN. Small miracle considering it's in Shelbyville. Everything is made fresh and to order. The broccoli is cooked to perfection. Please reward them with a visit
Panda Express
I went to panda express and got a plate from drive thru. I ordered half and half for my side and entrees i ordered orange chicken and kung Pao. there is barely any chow mein. Plate with filled cabbage and onions that they put in the chow mein. And talking about kung pao chicken all i got is peanuts and some vegetables not any chicken. I do not understand why not just tell the customer that we are running out of the dish so that we don’t end up getting what u don’t have and pay for it. Please do Better Panda Express. I would recommend going inside and getting your food. You don’t know what you will get from Drive thru. I Paid $12.92 for bunch vegetables. WORST Experience!
Place a mobile order for pickup at 5:25, I Recieve a text at 5:23 telling me it’s ready, I arrive at 5:30 and they hadn’t even started making yet and I didn’t leave the store with my food until almost 6:00 while food for people who ordered in store was getting sent out quickly, my food was sitting on the counter getting cold, they didn’t tell me they had been waiting on one of my entrees until they handed it to me. I also had several people asking my name like they forgot, like I know it’s dinner rush but come on remember names and make sure to inform the customer that you are waiting on something and don’t send a message saying it’s ready when it’s not. They get an extra star for at least giving me a free drink for the wait
Chopsticks
Extremely Disappointed One of my favorite items to purchase at your location has always been the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls. However, imagine my shock and disgust when I bit into one and found a mouthful of ground beef instead of the usual delicious filling. What in the world happened, and why would you make this change? The quality and flavor I’ve always loved were completely missing. To make matters worse, I purchased five of these, expecting the same great taste I’ve come to enjoy, only to be met with disappointment. My husband and I had to go waste money at another location and through the $16.00 I spent in the garbage. Even the sauce was changed—it’s now watery and unappetizing, a far cry from what it used to be. This experience has truly left me frustrated and questioning whether I’ll return in the future. I hope you take this feedback seriously, as I’m sure I’m not the only loyal customer feeling let down by these changes. Sincerely, Disappointed Customer
1st time trying this place and I will never order again or suggest it. the yumyum sauce taste like straight mayonnaise nothing more nothing less mayo! The chicken was dry like scrap your tongue dry. Looked good but was Disgusting!
Dragon King
Last at the front was super nice and took my order down and man when we got home the food was delicious, actually surprised how authentic it tasted, the fried shrimp was cooked to perfection and the breading had a good crunch with the pork fried rice. Lo mein was amazing too. Very pleased overall. Definitely my new spot for Asian cuisine.
I'm adjusting my initial review and dropping it down even though the food is pretty good. The reason for the drop in score is that when you place an online order, they do not start your order until you get to the store. It's happened four times in a row, regardless of if they're busy or not. I literally asked this time if they had a lot of orders and they had three including mine for the last 20 mins. Every time that I come in and check in, the person in the front then goes back and I can hear them relay the order. This negates the whole reason of placing an online order in the first place. I get if they get busy and they get behind but that hasn't been the case. I don't want to get there only to wait as if I just placed the order. I'm sure they changed it because they've had people order but not pay but a better solution is to allow for a payment when I place the order, not make me wait the full time when I show up. I'll give them one more chance but that'll be the end of my patronage there if this policy continues. A shame because we do like their food (schezwan wontons are awesome) but that's just a waste of my time and poor service.
China Chef - Seafood Boil & Chinese
Delicious dumplings! Good size portions, Great prices, Polite owners. Wasnt crazy about the lo mein (nor the boxes in the corner all over.. don't know how that's allowed). But it's a Chinese food spot not a chick fil a so I'm not worried about the 'ambiance'. Also had the shrimp and garlic sauce & it was perfect. Update: The food is still hot, still great & the owners are nice
Food was good. Been wanting to try this place because they seem to be the only one who serves "flat rice noodles " (chow fun). The flavor of the food can use more flavor. There isn't the taste of food cooked on a sizzling wok when u have the typical "beef chow fun". Overall, happy they offer this dish. It was good (the texture of the noodles were good, not mushy). Felt like a 10min wait. Would only come back for the next craving. Probably place order over phone too.
