Happy Wok
The food is amazing and each dish is delicious. This place has been here for over twenty years and is never a disappointment. The staff are friendly and it’s like family. The portions are huge and can feed two people. The prices are reasonable and there is a good selection of options and are made to order. Great orange chicken, broccoli beef and bbq pork. The parking is free and accessible to all. The food is recommended for all and they can make food for vegetarian options. The community loves this place and everyone who recommends this place to others is correct in saying the food is delicious.
We had been coming here for 4 years, a man always attended us and his service was very good. Today we went for some dishes and their way of serving with plenty of spaghetti and rice. The portions were exaggerated and the side dishes a teaspoon I won't go again.
Xiang Ji BBQ & Seafood
Don't be put off by the plain exterior or the low ratings. When you see many elderly people at a restaurant, you can bet the flavor is authentic and exceptional. Every time I've come, the Sweet and Sour Fried Egg with Shredded Vegetables is a must on the table; something so simple, yet it leaves such a lasting impression. It can get busy in the evenings, but I've never had to wait long or have difficulty securing a table. This restaurant also has the option for you to bring your own seafood (lobster, fish, crab, etc), you choose a flavor/ style and they'll make it for you. As of August 2024 it was $10/pound for labor, which compared to other restaurants is a very good deal and price. The owners are also here, one in the kitchen and one out serving, so you can count on the flavor and service being top notch.
Very authentic Cantonese!!! Tastes like back in Canton!!! Staff friendly too. Call to book beforehand to avoid queue, they are very popular especially dinner time. Wish they open a restaurant in Sydney, we like it so much that we went back the second time even though we only had 3 days in LA. We brought their menu back in Sydney as our LA travel souvenirs! Everything is on point, highly recommended!
Red 99 Grill Bistro
Invited by a friend, we were there at around 2pm to have late lunch, yet we still waited for about 5m for a table. This place is so popular that by 4:30pm there were already ppl lining up waiting outside of the restaurant waiting to get in before they re-open after their daily break between 2:30pm to 5pm! The kitchen stopped taking order at 2:30pm daily yet the servicing staff was still there helping us. The food is delicious! Best of all, the edamame, the miso soup and rice are all free and you can ask for free refill as well. Price of the dishes are very fair as well. Strongly recommended! Will be worth the waiting!
Extra! Extra! $11.99 menu lunch /dinner is a bargain ! My favorite is the 3 flavor squid! So different and delicious! That was the dish that got me hooked! Nice quiet ambiance! Definitely a hidden gem!!
不二烧肉Unique Smokehouse
The food is really delicious and authentic, definitely be back order more . The service is really friendly.
Wow! This not your usual smokehouse or Chinese BBQ place. It is amazing *if* you like MaLa spice. This was our first time here and we got a few things to try (and loved them all!). First, we got some quail eggs - deliciously smoked. Probably the most traditional and expected taste of them all. Wonderful. Next, smoked sliced lotus root. They are dark and moist, but crispy and delightfully MaLa, just a little numbing, again, wonderful. Lastly, we tried one of their green peppercorn chickens. These are small, dark birds, but what flavor! I was speechless as I ate my first leg and thigh. What an amazing flavor, unlike anything I’ve ever had before. My wife couldn’t stop praising it and I couldn’t find words. There are so many more things to try, we will be back again (steamed dumplings next!). The woman who helped us was so bright and kind and was very patient with us as she answered all our questions. Be brave, try a small amount of one of their many dishes and you will be coming back too! (sorry no pix of the chicken, we ate it before I thought of writing a review) UPDATE: Feb 2, 2024 Stopped in for lunch and got a bunch of stuff! This is our third visit so I thought I’d do an update. Today we tried some of their bread food and the chicken soup. Shepherd’s Purse and pork steamed dumplings. Disappointing. Our homemade ones are much better and Kingberg Kitchen up the road are also much better - you can actually taste the veggie. They are also very small. Pork and Green Onion Bao. Tasted very good and were very juicy, but . . . No green onions Chicken Soup. Best dish on the table! Rice noodles were well cooked and the broth was very good. I had two small bowls but then it started to get too salty for me. Overall, just ok today. Not everything on the printed menu is available every day, so be prepared to be disappointed! I still think it worth a visit as this type of food is very good and hard to find.
JIAO CLUB 椒宴
Excited to try this new restaurant.
JIAO Club in Rosemead, a new Chinese restaurant specializing in Beijing-style cuisine, opened its doors today, and as someone who lived and worked in Beijing for years, I was excited to check it out. The menu features classics I love, like Napa cabbage in sweet vinegar, twice-cooked pork belly, fried bean noodles, and Kung Pao chicken. Unfortunately, no Peking Duck was available on opening day due to their roasting furnace not being ready, which was a letdown. We ordered a variety of dishes to test their authenticity, and most delivered. The Kung Pao chicken, with its subtle sweet vinegar kick, was a highlight, and the steamed cabbage with garlic and vermicelli was spot-on, full of flavor. However, the fried bean noodles missed the mark—the fried bean sauce lacked that distinct Beijing taste I was craving. Service was a strong point; the servers were friendly, attentive, and quick despite the opening-day buzz. The decor feels Beijing style yet cozy, fitting for a casual Beijing-style meal. They’re also handing out scratch cards for a free dish on your next visit, which is a nice touch. Prices seem fair for the portion sizes. While the fried bean noodles disappointed, the other dishes showed promise, and I’m eager to return once their Peking Duck is ready to see if they can fully capture Beijing’s culinary spirit.
Orange Chicken
The people were nice, but there's no way I'm paying for cold food. I'd understand if it was right befopre closing or an odd hour, but it's 3:00 p.m. on a Sunday and I started eating within one minute of it being served... Like how is it 70° outside, but my food is colder than the ambient temperature? Won't be back
The welcoming staff and enormous portions make this place a great value. Their extended hours until 8:30 are convenient, and I've been impressed by their willingness to accommodate late orders.

The service and quality of the food was very low tier. Had them at the 626 night market and I regretted ordering from them. They were very disorganized and slow when taking orders and serving. They deliberately stalled the lines when they clearly did not have enough food to give out. They’re rude and lie about the wait times. Had to wait 40 to an hr for a few skewers and a shoddy bowl of noodle. They call the numbers out of order. When cooking, I see them casually smoking, drinking and snacking with their hands without washing as they let others wait for hrs. The food quality was sad. The beef seasoning tasted good, but it was small and mostly just fat. The cold bbq noodles shouldn’t take 40 mins to make, saw the cook take 5 mins near the end. Texture was leathery and looked like he sloppily tossed in the condiments. Doesn’t even look $10 worth.
Less busy than the Rowland Heights location. Easy to miss if you are driving on Rosemead Blvd. It looks like a house from the outside. Food is good and hot. Service is quick here.
Panda Express
This is the first time we try panda express. it's not our meal which is abnormal sweet not real Chinese food. Service is good. people are nice :)
I ordered a 3 entree plate. Half rice and half chow mein, kung pao chicken, walnut shrimp and beef broccoli. Portions are a lot smaller. Chicken was uncooked. Had to wait, for them to process all their online orders first. The girl working in the front was super loud. I don’t recommend this Panda Location. Better off driving a little further.
Grand Harbor
The dim sum is satisfactory, but unimpressive in terms of value for money. We felt like we spent a lot and ate very little. The dishes are categorised into small, medium and large, costing $5.38, $6.68 and $7.38, respectively. There are also special/premium ones that cost even more. They do offer a discount during the weekday in which you can get 20% off your bill if you pay before noon and 10% after noon. I don’t think it’s worth it to come on the weekend because it already stung with the discount.
Made a reservation for private banquet room for 7 people and ordered their set menu that is roughly $90/person for a menu for 10 people. Overall standard dishes that were great with friendly service. Lobster, Peking duck, filet mignon, all great staple dishes.
小湘厨Hunan Cuisine
I Will never be back to this place ! Food and service is bad I was served and charged for an aweful sticky tofu dish The first time it was cold, literally as you cut through it and the second time it was burnt! They must have just reused the same tofu from the first time and deep fried it until it was inedible When I expressed my concerns to the waiter, he just said this is how it is served and left! very disappointing ! Places like this shouldn’t exist
We drove by this plaza and noticed a newly opened restaurant, so we decided to give it a try as we love spicy Chinese food. It may look like a small spot from the outside, but the food was a great surprise. The rice noodles, smashed eggplants with thousand eggs, and dry pot perilla frog were all delicious and full of flavor. Definitely worth checking out, and we’ll be back for sure.
