City Chopsticks
The service was great, except they tried bringing me prawns I didn't order and then brought the bill with the prawns still on it. They were quick to rectify the situation both times, but it is worth noting. The food we did order came in large portions and taste amazing! We ordered orange chicken and Princess Chicken. We'd go back, again, staying on top of what they bring to the table and reading the bill carefully.
I rated them high in all areas, so why 2 stars? Been coming here, mostly for lunch, for over 3 years. This last visit, I arrived at 3:03pm. Lunch is 11-3. I asked if I could still get lunch. The guy said "lunch is over". He's seen me well over a dozen times. I wasn't 15 min past, I was 3. I've been involved in hospitality in one form or another, on & off, for 53 years, this is not what you do to a regular customer. A restaurant is different than a grocery store, which needs to have a pretty hard "close" time. Restaurants to if a kitchen is closing down for end of day clean up. This was lunch and the kitchen was not cleaning up. So, went to the competition across the way from City Chopsticks and was happily greeted. Very good food as well.
Hunan Village Restaurant
When hungry and can’t find enough eateries around, Hunan Village works just fine. Pretty much same flavors/sauces in all of our dishes, so couldn’t really tell apart from one dish to another.
I got the veggie delight from the lunch menu and the food was decent i thought the cabbage in the spring rolls was a bit under cooked and had a bland taste, the spicy mustard sauce was the worst I've ever had though and was watered down, very little flavor and didn't taste good at all, the soup had flavor but was a bit more sour then what I'm use to. Also there were no condiments (soy sauce, salt, pepper, vinegar, or chili oil) on the tables and needed to ask for the items specifically to get them. Overall the experience wasn't bad but it definitely didn't leave any desire to give it another shot.
