Lunasia Dim Sum House
This place used to be The Bomb!!! We even saw star chef Roy Choi frequent this joint from time to time. But it seems to have undergone new ownership and consequently the food has gone down. The menu has changed. Xia Long Bao ibreaks apart, so I assume this is frozen from another branch (Alhambra) not done fresh in premises. They don’t even give you ginger w the XLB anymore. One has to ask for it. The BBQ pork buns also felt microwave or streamed frozen and is soggy and breaks apart. Rice Noodle Roll w Shrimp rice wrapper is too thick. The string beans no longer have ground pork but is still good.as it was fresh. We miss the salted fish and chicken fried rice now off the menu. So something has changed. Too bad as this was our go to in Pasadena. Mama Lu Pasadena suffers the same issue. They are frozen versions of the real thing. Not fresh.
Pretty decent!! Fast servicing, food authentic, wait wasn’t too long. Only disappointment was that most dimsums weren’t served in the baskets. Main dishes portion is huge.
Dumpling Wei
Loved the beef roll. Would definitely order again. Fried rice was okay, nothing to write home about. Cucumber salad was fine as well. Beef roll really took the show.
Come here for the dumplings. Especially the pork and crab dumplings. They are just as good as the best ones I’ve had. However their green beans and green onion pancakes weren’t as good. The orange chicken is different. I liked it and it’s different than at other places but the flavor is maybe too subtle but these have more meat than at Panda. They have a gender neutral restroom. Free parking available as well as meter parking.
Panda Express
This is also one of the places is better for college students to come here and eat and hang out. The food is great. I’m guarantee you you will like it. As a YouTube content creator, I’m guarantee you🫵 will like this hundred percent.
Panda Express is great for cheap, fast, macro-friendly meals. They list the calories as well as amount of protein for each item, which I have never seen before. For fast food it is decently healthy if you pick the right items, you can get over 100g of protein which is insane value. The staff are very friendly, but I asked for a student discount and they said they gave it, but on the receipt it was regular price. Kinda suspicious, usually they give 10% off for students.
Yang Chow Restaurant
We made reservations for 12:30pm on a Saturday for 11 people but to our pleasant surprise it was not busy which was great. Quiet atmosphere. This is a traditional family style menu. All dishes were cooked well and flavorful. Slippery shrimp and moo shu wraps were my favorite. Large portions to share and we also had alot left over to take home. Hospitality was nice and we all took home a 2025 Year Of The Snake Chinese zodiac calendar.
I had the pleasure of dining at Yang Chow in Pasadena, and I have to say, it was an unforgettable experience! The food was absolutely amazing, with large portions that left us more than satisfied. To top it off, the staff was incredibly kind and made my mom’s birthday extra special by surprising her with a little birthday ice cream and a cheerful song. Their hospitality really set the tone for a fantastic meal. Highly recommend for great food and even better service!
Wok Master
I love this restaurant. I have been going here for over 20 years. My family has grown up on Wok Master any time I give them a choice when we're in Pasadena this place is going to win hands down. The food is great, and the service is good, and yes, the picture is of sweet and sour shrimp, and it is YUMMY. The ruff part is that sometimes the parking can get limited, so be prepared . They do offer lunch specials until 4 pm, and family meals and the restaurant itself is always clean.
Little hole in the wall that’s a tofu gem in Pasadena. I always go for the orange tofu and the salt & pepper tofu (crispy and salty, love it). It comes with white rice and is enough to feed two people twice. $35 for two plates is reasonable in Pasadena. I usually take it to go but recently ate it at the location and the service needs to be turned up a notch, at least refill my water once. Great options for vegans, especially since they in the same lot as Drink Erva who serves Yerba mate drinks. Happy Munchies, @aVeganAndHer
