We found this place on the In-Kind app. I highly recommend you wait for a coupon or grab some gift cards from Costco to help reduce the cost. You'll want to order at least 2 dishes per person with the intent to share, as well as some tea. There were about two portions per plate. This was my second Michelin level restaurant and it didn't fail to deliver. Every dish had multiple layers of flavor that went well together. We splurged a bit on the duck which was very good, but by far the best dish was the Brown Butter Fried Chicken. Truly out of this world savory. They have a rotating menu every 2 weeks targeting local and seasonal ingredients so we'll definitely be back to try other seasons. The service was very friendly and timely to our eating pace. The atmosphere is definitely higher end but with a livelier vibe, you can get away with business casual for sure. Definitely worth checking out for an important event or if you want to try some fancy Chinese food, there's not many other spots here in SD that offer this.
My friend and I were looking for Chinese food so I searched Chinese food near me. This was one of the top results on google so we figured we’d give it a try. Little did we know it was a fine dining Chinese “inspired” restaurant… it’s kind of our fault for not looking more into this place but I still expected the food the be good since the reviews were decent. Oh how wrong we were. The only thing that kept us chugging was the $12 pot of tea to cleanse our taste buds after every bite we had to take. We ordered 4 items including the tea which was: The shrimp robuchan $19, brown butter fried chicken $23, and the lamb leg yi mein $35. In total plus tax we paid $96.38. Which is 48.19 between 2 people… I wouldnt of have been bothered by the price if the food tasted good but on top of that the portions were tiny. For the shrimp we got 2 pcs, the chicken 2 or 3 pcs. Maybe the yi mein was okay to share but it was definitely the worst tasting dish out of the 3. And we were told it was supposed to be shared items… One more thing you’d never do expect this place to be a fine dining restaurant from the outside and due to its location. We thought it was going to be some cheap buffet style takeout from the looks of it on the outside but instead inside it was a dimly lit restaurant with a crazy amount of incense and floral aromas punching u in the face. I know Im bashing this place but overall I’m glad I’ve got to share experience this place it was a unique and funny experience I’ll remember for a long time.
PanPan Wok
Always love coming here for Chinese food. With the family for those special days, food is always great. Only a little hiccup recently was that they did not accept the stamped coupon voucher because it was 2 months old
Great location, the portions are very good, friendly staff and not too expensive. The flavor is consistent 👌 😋. Must try.
Thai Table Time
Overall it was a very good experience. Food was delicious and flavorful. However, a bit spicy for us. May be when ordering, give 1-2 points lower than your usual spice level. We tried Penang curry, papaya salad and summer rolls. Staff was attentive and addressed our concerns/questions in a considerate way.
Great service, vivid flavors, and wide variety. Cozy and casual atmosphere that resonates with friendliness. Love the Panang Curry. For the heat lovers, their spiciness level 10 packs a solid punch of spice and flavor. Excellent. Wonderful spring rolls, both fresh and fried. Need more visits to start a full menu crawl. Don't miss out.
KAMPAI SUSHI
Stopped for sushi at lunchtime. Plenty of seating and staff is pleasant. Food was quick and delicious. Pickled ginger and Spicy Miso 10/10
Tip: Don't use the link to their menu online, it's no longer current. They updated their menu and haven't updated the one online yet. The new menu has different items and different prices than before. I wound up spending a bit more than I had planned or wanted to for a quick lunch but the owner was kind enough to give me a complementary miso soup for the inconvenience. I think the direction they are trying to go is a bit more sophisticated with food that can really showcase the Chef's skills and training. I didn't notice it till I was writing this review, but the new menu has a different name on it, so maybe they are changing the name of the restaurant? I don't know. I hope it works out. Everything sounded delicious.
