Dim Sum World
I recently visited Dim Sum World, and it's fair to say that despite facing too much carbohydrates as a runner lol, I didn't faint 🤩. The dishes, all prepared by the family, offer a comprehensive selection from both Northern and Southern China. The Vietnamese noodles, particularly noteworthy for their homemade bone broth, are a must-try ❤️. We had a chance to chat with the owners, who were incredibly friendly and helpful. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal 😊. Our stomachs were fully satisfied, and we're definitely planning to return.
Good food - fair price💖 Small family business so there aren't many tables available and very cozy vibes. They have the best dimsum I've ever had. Make sure to add some chili oil, vinegar & splash of soy sauce for dipping sauce (the best) I'm highly recommend Pork Xia Long Bao, Hair Gow or Siumai. Salted Egg Bun & Chili wonton are MUST!!! They have very little kitchen, also they'll cook every single dish after you ordered and gonna serve at the same time => usually 15min wait so be patient. It's worth it I promise **they accept Debit card/Cash**
Panda Express
Pretty busy location. I came during a promotion and it was packed. But the staff really worked their best to keep the line moving and food delivered to the customers. Can never go wrong with orange chicken. I tried the quinoa rice for the first time and it's pretty good, probably healthier options than fried rice.
Blakley is the young woman’s name. She was unhelpful and unhappy with customer service. She has been hired by Panda Express to provide customer assistance and be customer focused. Yet in my case of asking to cash out the remainder of the gift card back, I got pushback galore. She let me have it, by telling me she knew the law. She indicated the law only applies if the initial purchase of the gift card under $10. Hmmm, let me think about that one for a second. Nope, it wouldn’t make sense. It’s the remaining balance on a card of less than $10. So much for knowing the law and letting me have it. If I didn’t insist her to still give it a try, she wouldn’t have discovered what she knows was wrong. Not very noble. How could I not be angry about the matter? If you were in the Right, I would have apologized. But I wasn’t wrong, in this case customer was right. And you have the audacity to say I had an attitude. Enough of the rant, please learn from this incident and be better. I will also try to be better. We can all try to make ourselves better, I included. This panda currently has 4.1 stars, rightfully so because it normally is 4-stars above. I don’t always have a GC to cash out so therefore would not run into this situation regularly. But if I do, I have certain expectations.
Chef Fu 洞庭湖
Spicy beef noodle soup broth was really good!! Our kinda new favorite Chinese Restaurant (Hunan cuisine) in the MPK area. All the dishes were decent and super flavorful but not overly in any wrong way. Quality flavor. Cauliflower dish, and the Intestine tofu dish are spicy! For those who like spicy (medium spicy lovers), it's good. But for mild to medium spicy eaters, it was barely doable but with tears and sinus changes. They said to ask them for light mild spicy (translate as small spicy) because maybe the app doesn't allow that choice? Note to self to order small flame/mild spicy next time for my sake. Spicy beef noodle soup wasn't too spicy. Super great broth! Loved it!! Didn't feel too salty. It was packed with flavor. I would recommend this for anyone craving noodle soup. If you take this to go and leave it overnight, remember to separate the noodles and soup, or else the noodles will soak up all the soup...and leave you soupless haha Its a rare occasion we order beef night soup or carb items but was craving a Chinese noodle soup dish. Pumpkin Pie dessert was like an air puff with thin flat mochi in the middle. They said no dairy is used but not not too certain if I trust that too much. Looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes!!
If you can handle spiciness, check out this place. This place is very authentic. Food is delicious, and the price is reasonable.
E&J Yummy Kitchen
Noodles were fresh. Lots of wok heat. Casual but clean spot and there was plenty of seating on a Monday at lunch time.
Cash only. Rice noodles were done well - thin, fresh made, good amount of toppings. I found the sauce slightly saltier than I usually like but salt is a subjective thing and I tend to eat on the blander side. Noodle soup was good as well. No frills, authentic spot. It's not fancy but it gets the job done and I ate everything (2 orders of rice noodles, noodle soup, and 1 honey lemon tea).
Duck House Restaurant 鹿鼎記
We had a reservation for 4 on a Saturday night, but still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was packed and noisy, and we were crammed in the entrance. Surrounded by crying babies and clattering plates. It was difficult to hear each other. The service was inadequate, despite having a service button at our table. Our servers seemed forgetful, taking 20 minutes to bring us ice water after we asked. However, the food was a highlight - the duck was excellent, and we enjoyed both the traditional and cumin-seasoned fried bones. The steak and onions were juicy and flavorful, and the truffle lobster, string beans, and jellyfish salad were also tasty. However, the timing of the dishes were off, with the fried rice arriving last and disrupting the flow of the meal. Considering the high prices, I didn't feel that the experience was worth it, especially compared to other options.
Located out in Monterey Park, is a fabulous Chinese cuisine, it has a traditional look for a restaurant, with ample seating. The parking lot is scarce with availability, so you’ll have to park on the street. We ordered the Traditional Roasted Duck (24 hours in advance), with pancake, scallion and cucumber. Very good and crispy. They placed the serving plate on top of a bowl of hot water to keep the food warm, that was genius. Loved the deep rich flavors that were combined to make this scrumptious meal. We also ordered the Filet Mignon cubes in black pepper sauce. The beef cubes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Tender with every bite, loved every bite. The Sauteed string bean with ground pork and dry shrimp was a nice addition as it help round out the flavors. The Dragon Ball that is lightly fried fish balls with shrimp roe’s filling was a surprisingly delicious treat that added to our experience. The Crispy scallion pancake was a must have as it gave the full experience needed to enjoy this hefty meal. The service was faster than expected, as this place is on the higher end of quality food, which is a good thing. I would definitely come back, just because the flavors are so good.
Deerfield Garden Restaurant
Fresh lamb slices are so good. $15 for 1.5lbs is also great price
S [must try / 一定要吃到] - not a restaurant anymore!!!! you come here to buy shabu shabu meat (best in town) - you can request fatty or lean for your beef - I appreciate how they will put ice for you if you live far away - speak Mandarin and English - insanely good quality meat with huge tray (highly recommend the 3 lb as its good for party of 4+) - meat prices changed a lot throughout the year (last time I went it was 30$ for 3 LB beef in 2024 Oct) TLDR: BUY HOT POT BEEF SLICES HERE. HIGH CP VALUE. VERY WORTH. ORDER 3 LB AND THANK ME LATER.
NBC Seafood Restaurant
Dim sum ends at 3pm. Missed it, but dinner was awesome. Worth the drive for their regular menu. Portion size is good, food tastes amazing. Service is solid. Huge place. Recently went back for dim sum. Well worth the 50 mile drive.
Went for early dinner on a Sunday at 5. We were put at a table which had somewhat dirty/stained linen. Took a while for our order to be taken. And we had to hail waiters over for that. Food did not come out all at once. We went for dim sum and dumplings which they said they stopped serving those at 3 pm. Food was basically a pricier version of Panda express. It was good but not great.
Chinatown Express - Monterey Park
The place looks fairly clean and organized. The atmosphere felt inviting but not all food items were available as of 7:20 p.m. last night. The portion size even though it looks abundant was below average. I paid about $10.80 for a one item combo after taxes and other fees. Everything was pretty oily even for these kinds of take out, heat lamp places, and I wish this food was a little hotter. I don't know if those lamps were working but the food was certainly not kept at the correct temperature. Their chow mein was oily but it had at least a good and pleasant, white pepper flavor to it (no wok hai or scallions unfortunately). Their fried rice was also oily but bland. Their spicy beef with zucchini and mushrooms with flavorful, but again, temperature wise lukewarm plus felt like it had been sitting there for a while--and again, extremely oily, but I asked for no gravy. They provided that sriracha sauce in sachets, which is pretty salty and has almost no acid component to it (but that was okay cuz the food wasn't too salty at least), and good quality soy sauce as condiments. Overall, if you need something quick it's not a bad place but I don't think I'll be back. They also charge a $0.75 transaction fee if you don't pay cash. Cheers.
I've been coming here my whole life and I've never had a problem. I'd the recommend the rice and their orange chicken. It's the best I've ever tasted (other places usually make it too sweet).
