Hong coffee & Bakery
This place is unassuming, but then they sucker punch you with HANDS DOWN the BEST WONTON NOODLES EVER. I have yet to eat more perfect wonton noodles with dumplings. The broth is simple and clean and delicious and the dumplings are amazinngggg as well. I have gotten multiple dishes here and have had the most awesome taste bud adventures. If you're not a noodle person (le gasp), you can't go wrong with the curry and the hainan chicken. I don't know how they do it. The food is rich in flavor but I don't feel greasy or anything after eating it. I guess it's just super fresh ingredients, homemade, and skillfully cooked food. Try it to believe it!!
Hole in the wall, hidden gem, mom & pop vibes! they take card! I can't get over these egg noodles in this wonton mein! seems like most places serve it up clumped together and you need to split your chopsticks to break them apart - BUT NOT HERE. they are silky and bouncy! and the soup is nicely flavored, enhancing everything in the dish. you also get four big wontons filled with plump shrimp and pork. I also love their hainan chicken, well seasoned, and the filet mignon has a nice kick. Nice selection of traditional asian dessert options in individual serving sides (tofu pudding with ginger syrup, "che thai", ube tofu, etc.) and they also sell their wontons/dumplings frozen + noodles in packages. parking is available on the street! limited seating, but a lot of folks are doing takeaway!
Alice's Kitchen
This is the most authentic Hong Kong causal dining (Cha Chang Teng) restaurant in the area. (I grew up in HK). Food is delicious and generous with portion size. Service is simple and quick. This is my third visit in the last two trips since I don’t live in the area. The rice congee with pork and century egg is proper, as well as the rice rolls with crunchy dough stick inside! Soft outside and crunchy inside. The pineapple bun with butter (I had it to go) is so good! They also will refill your milk tea or lemon tea which makes it such a good deal. Highly recommended.
We went for the lunch on Sat. We only waited for 15 min. We ordered chicken hot soup, extra vegetable, and cold combinations. The food is fresh and not salty. Will go back again 👍
Beijing Pie House北京餡餅
This place has the most delicious meat pies. We get the lamb & green onions every time and they are so juicy and delicious. Highly recommend!
This is a must go to place. The meat pies are like giant pan fried xiao long bao: juicy and soupy and savory on the inside, crispy on the outside. Don't try to eat these while driving! You'll make a mess. I had (and recommend) the lamb and cilantro, and the beef with green onion. The pies must be hand made when you order; the cilantro inside of mine was still crisp, while the meat was cooked through. Service was quick and friendly, and the interior was inviting and clean. They also sell other items, like popular bottled green tea.
Kam Hong Garden
This is truly a mom and pop local restaurant. It's been here for years that we never tried. To our surprise, the food was good. The handmade noodles & beef were delicious and good texture. The lamb skewers were seasoned well. The meat was cooked perfectly and good quality, not the odds and ends cut. The dumpling skin was a bit too thick/doughy to my taste. We will come back again for sure.
My wife and I both love Asian food and my wife has been wanting hand made noodles. We live in the San Fernando Valley and we haven't found any hand made noodles in our area. So I looked on the Internet for the best hand rolled noodles and Kam Hong Garden came in second. I told my wife that we were going to dinner but I didn't tell her where. We drove for over 1hrs in the rain 🌧️ and traffic. We were greeted and sat down right away. Their menus are different from the picture on the website. We ordered the Beef Stew with Hand Rolled Noodles Soup and also the Leek with Minced Shrimp Boiled Dumplings and also the Saute Spicy Shrimp 🦐. We were so surprised when they brought out the food. The portions were huge and so very flavorful. Their Hand Rolled Noodles were the best Noodle we've ever eaten. If you want real Hand Rolled Noodles this is the restaurant that you have to come to. We took our leftovers home and had a wonderful lunch the next day.
FORTUNE NO 1
Jianbing is great. I think they used green bean flour, authentic and not sticky in mouth. Tofu soup is also great, not too salty, just right. I ordered my breakfast and ordered Baozi to-go. After I finished my breakfast, the Baozi is ready.
Great food variety! You can understand the northeast Chinese breakfast culture when you visit this place. Food is authentic and delicious. People who work in the kitchen can be loud, you can experience the streets breakfast atmosphere here. Food is very tasty according to friends who went with me, who originally from the Shandong region. Ilike 油条 most. Food comes pretty quickly, serves is okay, but cleanness have rooms to improve.
Cui Hua Lou
Chinese grilled skewers, lamb brain in sauce, pork intestines, chicken tendons and a lot of other very mainland Chinese street food. Definitely a place that goes well with beer. Wish they had more options than just Budweiser. Would be a 5 stars if they had a variety of lagers on tap.
We came here because our friends from China thought this is one of the best places for lamb dishes, in particular the lamb scorpion stew/soup (it is basically a pot of lamb’s spine with tofu and veggies and the reason it is called a scorpion is because the spine itself resembles a scorpion). It was a long drive for us just for a dinner in hole in the wall place. While dinning here, I began to enjoy myself very much as the waitress, the patrons and the basic set up truly reminded me of tiny mom and pop places in the alleys of any city in China. In China, people eat lambs during the winter months as lamb is the best way to keep you warm from inside. So, dining here in a cold night, it was pretty special considering that we were 10,000 miles away from Beijing. So, even it was a hole in the wall, I gave a 5-star on the atmosphere because this place looked its right out of an old Chinese movie. As far as the food goes, we had a scorpion pot and a lamb meat pot, both were pretty good, but on a salty side for me (which was actually quite normal for this type of dishes). The lamb meat pot was more tender with tendons and some fat. The scorpion (spine) has a lot of bones (obviously) and the meat was bit more tougher. Most people seemed to enjoy the scorpion more than the meat itself, but I prefer the meat with no bones. We also had the lamb skewers and they were very good and meaty unlike those one you get from a street fair. Finally, we had ordered “mild” for spiciness and it was pretty tame, though some prior reviewers thought “mild” was extremely spicy. I guess the level of spiciness is really very subjective. If you would like to experience a true authentic Chinese street food, then this is a good place to try.
Mei Wei Jin Hai
Located in an Asian area and the Oriental dish w/ rice was horrible. I guess I am use to Americanized Chinese foods.
Its grilled leeks, gluten, steamed buns, and potato chips are all delicious. Go once a week.
Noodle House
Delicious pan fried pork dumplings and beef pancake.
They will accept your order no matter they have the item or not and force you to change your order afterwards. Total scam, don’t go, waste of time
Monterey Palace Restaurant
Very good place for dinner, the hot and sour seafood soup is better than lots of places. Roast duck and salted chicken is really good too. Clam soup with vermicelli is my niece’s favor dish. Ong choy with ginger and fermented tofu favor is always good.
Came here for dinner on a Friday night for dinner. And even though our food was amazingly delicious, surprisingly the place didn't have many people. It was a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and our waiters were really attentive. All of the meat was cooked and very tender! Highly recommend! We got the steamed pork ribs with olive sauce, sautéed pig tripe with morchella, french style beef tender, roasted crispy pork belly, sizzling chicken with black bean sauce
