I love this place! This is one of my go-to spots to take Chinese friends or people coming into town who like Chinese food! It’s a nice fancy Chinese restaurant with really beautiful and tasty dishes. The dishes are on the pricier end ($20-$30) but they come out very beautiful and tasty so I would highly recommend. This time we got Spicy Beef Tendon, Salt and Pepper Tofu, Garlic snow pea leaves, Eggplant in Spicy Sauce, and Kung Pao chicken. Everything was delicious. The beef tendon dish looked especially nice. Service: We came on a Friday evening and there wasn’t too many people so we were seated right away. The dishes came out one by one in a timely manner. They also box the leftovers for you, which I appreciate. They do start tip at 20% which is a bummer but not unexpected for a pricy place like this. Interior: The restaurant feels like a pretty fancy Chinese restaurant. There’s lots of tables so there’s plenty of seating. And there’s a lot of tables with turntables on top, so great for family style dining. Parking: There’s parking the back, behind the restaurant. There’s also many parking lots in Menlo Park downtown, so it’s not hard to find a spot.

First time here and it won't be my last. This restaurant had great service with delicious, wonderfully presented Asian dishes. Vast selection of menu items. Beautiful upstairs and downstairs dining room. Great for small or large parties. Bar seating with an extensive collection of wines and some beer. A little pricey, but that goes without saying if you're located in Menlo Park /Palo Alto Bay Area. Honestly, the food and service is worth the price though.

We’ve been coming here for 20 years and the food is still great as ever. You can never go wrong with the combo fried rice and garlic chicken! :) Parking isn’t hard to find and the staff are super friendly. Would highly recommend if you’re in Menlo Park.

Went to Chef Kwan‘s for the first time and ordered vegetable chow mein with cream cheese wontons. Lots of parking near Trader Joe’s in the back. Appropriately socially distanced in the lobby. A few little tables to sit. Specifically asked if the wontons were vegetarian and was told that they have egg, but other than that would be okay. Well, actually, they have crab— which I don’t consider vegetarian. Really big bummer. The noodles were all right, but tasted very black peppery. Probably would not return here, unfortunately.

Edit: Recently very short-staffed with a limited menu; completely different experience. Praying for Phil and hoping he is able to find folks to help him recover his restaurant into the place it has been and can be. Will be back in a few months. This place is amazing. The food is delicious and Phil makes you feel like family. It is truly a joy to dine here. Try his specials or ask for his recommendations! You won’t be disappointed. Even came here for my birthday because it just really hits the spot every time.

Have had two great meals here. The owner Phil is great and very hospitable - all around good vibes and even better food. Ordered the House fried rice and will return soon for it!

I love this place! It’s great to get traditional Chinese food. We also order their takeout occasionally and that’s been great too. Some of my favorites dishes include their steamed fish, stir fry eggplant, and spicy beef tendon . I also like their salt and pepper tofu, yang zhou fried rice, grilled cumin lamb skewers, egg drop soup. My boyfriend likes their hong shao rou, and the The service is good. I don’t feel like we ever wait too long to order or get the bill. The wait staff speaks both English and Chinese so if you prefer speaking in Chinese there’s always that option. The interior is nice. It feels like a traditional fancy Chinese restaurant. They have pretty light fixtures and sculptures on the wall. We usually sit in one of the booths, but they also have family-style seating in the back (big round tables with a lazy Susan). Parking: The parking lot’s pretty small in the back but we usually manage to find a spot. If not, Menlo Park downtown has a lot of free parking lots you can park at and then walk over

Food is amazing. Very very great value restaurant. Food came out hot and fast. I really enjoyed their noodles and their boiling pot dishes. It was filled with meat and fish and veggies-they dont skimp out on portion sizes. Its very good. The decor is fairly nice and has a mid-upscale feeling. Also super interesting is that they also offer hot pot and the prices for that are pretty reasonable too!
