Kuan Zhai Alley
Great little place right next to Los Olivos apartments and Promenade apartments. Dandan noodles: it was good, but these didn't come dry, which is what I would have expected. Not gatekeeping dandan noodles though- there's no wrong way as long as the noodles are chewy and it has a lot of flavor. I just wish it were a little spicier. 4/5 Eggplant: not much flavor and slightly overcooked. I would have preferred it more savory and more spicy. 3/5 Wood ear mushrooms: simple and perfect balance of subtle flavors. It didn't wow me but at the same time, there is nothing I would have changed about it. well executed. 5/5. Scallion fish: absolutely loaded with flavor yet well balanced. a true testament to this dish. Well done. 5/5.
The place is incredibly clean and updated, with a modern vibe that makes dining there so comfortable. Ordering is so easy—just scan the QR code at the table, browse the menu, and place your order right from your phone. Food: The variety of dishes was impressive and authentic. We tried the Chengdu Dan Dan Noodles, stir-fried vegetables, garlic cucumber, fatty beef soup, and Japanese tofu egg. The stir-fried vegetables were perfectly seasoned, and the garlic cucumber added a refreshing crunch. We ate the Japanese tofu egg with rice and stir-fried vegetables and it’s the bomb. The service was attentive. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Sichuan flavors!
Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
Ordered chicken fried rice, but come to find out when I got home, one singular small bite of chicken, I searched around until I realized that one piece was in there on accident (I hope). Overall I was very disappointed, especially since Pick up Stix was my go to during lunch breaks at work.
Top tier service from Karen! Literally the sweetest over the top service I've ever received. I love this location already & she just made it more enjoyable.
