California Wok
First visit had the salt and pepper shrimp, excellent and big portion. Also had the pistachio macaron with strawberry ice cream sandwich which was very good. Second visit, had the steamed fish filet with fried rice lunch special, very good. 1/13/25: Chicken with mushroom and peapod lunch special. 3/14/25: Deep fried pork chop with fried rice and egg drop soup. Pretty good, get extra spicy with hot sauce.
From the moment we came in, their host greeted us with a big smile and sat us quickly. Restaurant was very clean. Mary was our server and she outdid herself. Checked in frequently to make sure we are all set. Food was AMAZING 10/10 according to my teen daughter. Happy we stopped in and hope to do so again if time allows before our vacation ends.
Wong's Wok Chinese Kitchen
Very clean the tables in the restaurant and entire place was spotless. And you could easily gather the whole family around in the space. The woman who helped me was extra kind and gave a big smile, very welcoming at the start. Extra warm servings compared to other fast Chinese restaurants. The servings were Generous indeed. Black pepper chicken exploded with flavor. Spicy marinated teriyaki flavors. The Orange chicken is sweet, tang, with hearty meaty cuts. Again some spots the orange chicken is more batter than meat so this was appreciated and noticed. Fried rice and Chow mein are seasoned to perfection noodles are soft and the rice is plentiful.
It's typical Chinese fanfare but on the higher price spectrum for a la carte items. Parking is difficult since it's on the mail street but manageable at the adjacent parking lot. My fave is the salt and pepper tofu. When you order a la carte it's not speedy but the food is worth the wait.
Sing Woo Kitchen
Ask for Maria, she will recommend some delicious options that go together with sweet/spicy flavors. Great customer service. I took my parents, we couldn’t believe we ate everything! Generous portions.
Nice to have a new dim sum restaurant in the Burbank-Glendale neighborhood, possibly the only one in the district. Good quality food by chefs from Hong Kong, and the one-dollar lobster for meals over a hundred is a great promotion. Not the best prices for dim sum menu but reasonable. Love the beef chow fun rice noodle a family favorite. My favorite is the crispy fried egg noodles with gravy served separately for takeout. One disappointment was the sticky lotus wrapped rice which was surprisingly small and lack in meat content. Usually it would cost me $120-$150 for a family meal during inflationary times but with just little over a hundred we got to eat a meal for two days. Overall satisfactory and hope they will do well to stay open.
