Hot Spot Nabe
Nice gem hidden away in a small strip mall. Restaurant is not your typical Asian restaurant, but more of a hybrid hot pot style with special home style dishes run by a nice friendly couple. Restaurant is not that big and our group of 9 took up the entire dining area. Their food is home style cooking with simple creative ingredients without the excessive oil or savory taste found in a typical restaurant. Prices are cheap considering the high cost of living and the amount of food you get. The menu options are minimal, but so we went with the Chef’s recommendations (some were not on the menu) for most of our selection and the Chef did not disappoint. Unlike a typical big restaurant with multiple Chef’s, the dish came out one by one allowing you to enjoy dishes slowly without the next one getting cold. We started off with a few apetizers to include a hand made fried shrimp cake, cold cut pig ears, and their free range style chicken that came with some dipping sauces. Chicken was poached just right with good fresh taste and texture. Restaurant is more towards the spicy side so if spice it not your thing, inform the Chef. The pepper pork belly chicken soup is hearty and flavorful with a good dash of pepper (Asians believe this type of soup keeps the body warm). Their fried quail was excellent with good glistening color and not too dry. Salt and Pepper shrimp had good taste but instead of using peppers, it appears they use peppers and Sichuan pepper (numbing) for a non traditional taste. The Tofu and BBQ pork is a stable that goes well with rice and reminded us of the days where we had to quickly eat a hearty rice dish and get back to work. The fish came in a big bowl with some vegetables and had some soup (felt more like a casserole) For dessert, you won’t find any mango putting. We opted for the purple glutinous rice with coconut milk, and the peach gum with coconut milk. We found the purple glutinous rice more to our liking to round out this meal.
Nice set menu and the chicken is fresh and delicious. Will try the hot pot next time
Tasty Box BBQ
Great service and love the food here. My go to place for take out when i want duck! And the wonton soup was very good. We come here at least a few times a month.
The last couple times I ordered the Crispy Pork Belly, not so good. A lot of fat, not much meat. I mentioned that about my last visit. Same thing happened again on my recent visit. They are open to feedback, looks like it does not go far.
Duck Palace 御鸭坊
Came here after we came back from a trip all over china and had the Peking duck in hadong Beijing iykyk. We were blown how amazing the duck here was and found it by chance shortly after our trip from China. We have looked for and tried about 7 other Peking duck places from Northride all the way down to the San Diego border. We have tried to find something that taste as good as this place and Chinese Peking duck and I got to say this is the best we have had and the value speaks for it’s self. The roast duck combo is amazing and must have and soup is good for the soul. I been here twice and we will be coming back even though we live an hour away. Plus is they remembered us! Fun fact, family is from Xian china :) go terracotta warriors.
It's labeled as a Peking duck restaurant, but the way they prepare the duck is kind of like a hybrid of Peking and roast duck. The skin isn't served separately and isn't crisp. That being said, the taste and the value are still superb. I feel the 3 course duck meal is the best deal. It can feed about 2 hungry guys or up to 4 regular people. Included is a whole duck, duck soup, and fried duck bones (there's still meat on them). The duck itself is very flavorful, and I think they make their own duck sauce (not positive). They give you crepes, spring onions, and cucumber slivers for you to assemble your own little "burritos." The soup is also good, but the surprise hit was the duck bones. They're fried until the meat is crisp and seasoned with dry rub. Ask for extra crispy. Besides duck, this restaurant has an assortment of traditional cold dishes. You can mix and match items that are at the same price point since it's sold by weight. Lastly, they accept credit cards!
Wok Restaurant
Cash only. Generous portions, food is tasty, dont be discouraged if it looks like they're about to run out, because they'll make more right away. $9.99 for 2 entrees and rice/chow mein/fried rice. Have tried everything on the menu and there's certainly something for everyone. EDIT 1/11/25: They take Zelle now if you don't have cash! 🥹
Wow, what a great deal. The combination platters are huge. They did not only provide quantity but also quality. The family and I are big fans of the boneless pork ribs, tangerine chicken, teriyaki chicken. Just tried the chicken with green beans Wich was also very good. Definitely going to be trying some of the other items as well in the future. They only accept cash, no credit cards.
Tealicious Cafe
This small eatery has been around for a while with new proprietor every few years The current proprietors are friendly and welcoming. Today, we had the 3-cup chicken, which was made up with one cup of chicken, one cup of cooking wine and one cup of garlics. Overall, it was delicious but just a bit too sweet. The other dish we had was the stewed pork over rice and it was decent. This place’s top choice is the traditional beef noodles where you can order all beef meat or 1/2 beef meat and 1/2 tendons. I’ve tried the 1/2 beef meat and 1/2 tendons before and it was pretty good. The menu offered a lot of typical lunch dishes that are popular in Taiwan and you should be able to find something new to try.
Tealicious Cafe offers an excellent dining experience. Their famous beef noodle soup is a must-try! The fried fish on rice and Taiwan chicken cutlet over rice were also very good. Plenty of parking, and the owner is friendly. Highly recommend!
