Asian Garden
I was unexpectedly impressed with my experience here. Honestly I think the vast majority of Chinese/Asian on the Alabama Gulf Coast is pig slop, so maybe my expectations have been lowered over the years, bit this place reminded me of the good Chinese I had growing up in Birmingham. Although it was all the same basic stuff you'd find anywhere, the quality of both the meats used and the sauces were a step above the local buffets and to go shops. Where most places have some generic brown flavorless sauce with the consistency of cow snot on everything, here the dishes I tried all had specific flavor profiles and the sauces were thick but not gummy. The Shanghai chicken and the General Tso's chicken, while both "fried chicken in spicy sauce" were entirely distinct from one another. Service was good, and I felt like I was being served by family instead of employees. I also really liked the sweet tea. The only letdown was one person in my party wanted a soft drink and was served a glass of ice and a can of Coke - no fountain drinks here! Overall, it's probably the best Chinese food I've had in the area and certainly leagues better than the places where I live in Baldwin County. This will definitely be worth returning to next time I cross the bay to visit Mobile.
Asian Garden is truly a hidden gem for anyone looking for authentic Chinese cuisine. The dishes are simply outstanding, with flavors that take you straight to China. The Cantonese Roast Duck is perfectly cooked—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The Steamed Fish is fresh, delicate, and melts in your mouth, while the Seafood Tofu Casserole is a hearty dish packed with rich flavors. The restaurant itself is spotless, with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are friendly, attentive, and always make sure you have everything you need. If you’re a fan of authentic Chinese food or just want to experience excellent flavors, Asian Garden is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
Yuan Mei Asian Noodle Chinese style
First time here, love the food and service and atmosphere. The waiter was attentive and they have a call for service button at the booths. We got crispy pork intestines, salted crispy shrimp, and eggplant with garlic sauce. Very pleased and full. Restroom is pretty clean, I’d give it a 6.5/10.
Cozy and nice decor. Welcoming and friendly server. The food was tasty and fresh. I had the Kung pow chicken, and the sauce had layers of flavor. The zucchini was not mushy and had a nice bite to it. My aunt got the chicken and vegetables, and this has to be the most flavorful sauce I've ever tasted in a C&V dish! We will definitely be coming back.
Siam Thai Cuisine
I celebrated my daughter's birthday at Siam Thai. We were met at the door by smiling waitresses. The whole atmosphere was very beautiful. The food was delicious and the presentation was very beautiful. The waitress was very attentive to our every need, they also sang Happy Birthday to my daughter: we will definitely be eating there again.
Really nice Thai restaurant. All the small details make the dining experience nice. Flowers on the tables, decorative napkins and the decor was really nice. We had the pineapple curry with chicken and the Thai fried rice with chicken. Both were delicious. It came with a miso soup, but I've had better soup. Overall I'd recommend them. We've been there several times, always good.
Benja's Thai & Sushi Restaurant
Terrible, rancid. No one else there, but took more than 30 minutes after ordering to get food (that was very unappetizing) served on paper plates. My teenage son couldn't even stomach the Pad Thai.
I got the Japanese bagel roll. It was good. I got the ginger salad as well, which was good! However, my boyfriend said he would never come back & could hardly finish his. He got the bama roll. He said there was something about it that he just couldn’t stomach. We also got cream cheese wontons & in both of our opinion, they were not very good. His son got French fries, as the kids menu was very limited so we just let him pick. They were delicious! The service was quick, the server was very friendly, & the restaurant itself was clean.
Thai Diner
The menu is a little confusing. I would’ve had some other things had I understood the basil rolls looked to be. You can have them with shrimp, but the menu reads like it just has the vegetables. I had the teriyaki chicken stirfry with brown rice. It was excellent. My husband noodle bowl which was a yellow curry and it was depth of flavor and great!
Great food, reasonable price, and nice portions. Be aware that hot is #3 on a 1-3 scale. I like hot and 2 is sufficient for me. Well seasoned food and friendly staff. Be aware Basel Rolls (light appetizers) are served with peanut sauce on the side.
