Hunan Chinese Restaurant
The Chinese food is pretty standard , but with good variety. The salad bar is good too. Having a fresh shrimp cocktail and breaded shrimp, for all you can eat, is just great! Well worth the $10.99. They even have a nice takeout option where you can fill a takeout container with whatever you want from the buffet. The staff are friendly and hospitable as well. It's a great restaurant for what it's meant to be.
Best keep secret in Foley. Consistently great! I’ve been eating here for 33 years. Discovered it the night before my oldest son was born. They have a very popular buffet but TRY the menu items, they’re amazing! I get take out at least 2x a month. More than you can eat and worth 2 x what you’ll pay, eat for days!! We had: Moo Goo Gai Pan, Fried Boneless Chicken w/ Chinese Vegetables, Shrimp fried Rice, 6 egg rolls $38 w tax. Love this place and their people!! Thanks Yan!! The photos are what’s leftover after 2 people have already eaten. Enjoy!
Dragon City
My husband and I visited this restaurant after being tired of the surf and turf we've had around the beach areas on our road trip. We were visiting from Houston, TX where there is a very densely populated Asian community and one of the biggest chinatowns in the state of Texas. So after seeing the other reviews before visiting, I felt the need to give my own rating for this restaurant after viewing some of the negative reviews. The main negative reviews I saw were: Mongolian Beef and broccoli had a bad texture, food came out cold, and service was poor. My intention with giving our honest review is to help others get a more thorough idea of what to expect versus seeing a negative nancy try to rip an Asian family owned restaurant a new one. We ordered the General Tso's, Kung Pao Chicken, egg rolls, Mongolian Beef and Broccoli. As most Chinese family owned restaurants -- yes, it's not American customer service, but they're giving the expected service you'd get from a Chinese own restaurant -- Mild service where they want you in and out so you're not waiting and good food so they can efficiently move on to the next considering English isn't their first language. I've included photos and given the following ratings with my explanations below. I do want to advise our food came out very hot and the wait was less than 15 minutes. General Tso's solid 10/10 -- sauce was perfect between sweet and spicy, chicken was fried and tossed in sauce perfectly, and meat was tenderized correctly. Broccoli was a good crunch on the stem, but soft by the florets. Kung Pao Chicken is a solid 11/10 -- chicken was fried and tossed in the sauce perfectly, you can really taste the five spice and it's probably one of the best I've had. You can clearly taste the spices and it pairs perfectly well with the steamed rice. Meat was tender and the baby corn stalks were the perfect crunch. This was probably one of my favorites. Egg Rolls 6/10 -- this wasn't really filled properly and there was more egg roll wrapper than filling, but I give it a 6 for still tasting good and was fried to perfection. Mongolian Beef and Broccoli is a 7/10 -- the beef was overly velveted. It was far too tender to the point that you couldn't tell if it was beef in terms of texture. Veggies were perfectly tossed in the sauce and went great with rice.
First time at Dragon City. Extensive menu with lunch specials, prompt service, tasty, freshly cooked food. I had Kung Pao chicken and it had very good flavor with just right amount of spice for me. The inside of the restaurant is not the best. Food is good, that the most important thing.
Panda Express
Hubby and I were starving and found panda Express open. Very clean place, friendly staff, lots of choices for meals or bowls, everything was cooked well and was delicious. I was even asked to fill out a survey for corporate and was having trouble and the manager came over and helped me leave a review. I am always pleased with good, service and location of this restaurant.
I recently visited Panda Express and ordered fried rice, but unfortunately, I was given white rice instead. When I brought up the mix-up, the staff replaced it without a word—no apology, no acknowledgment. While I appreciated that they corrected the order, it would have been nice to see a little more communication or friendliness in their response. Overall, the food was good, but the customer service could use a bit of improvement to make the experience more welcoming.
Wolf Bay Restaurant at Foley
Every time I'm in Foley I try to go. Excellent salad bar. Excellent everything. I got a steak salad bar and we got crab claws for an appetizer. It never disappoints. A little pricey though be warned.
Hopper was the best server ever. He was super friendly, gave us the best advice about where the locals go. Food was excellent. We had the blackened and fried cobia and the fried green tomatoes. The salad bar was fresh and beautiful. The house wine was good too. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Peng Garden Chinese BUFFET Restaurant
As a microbiologist, I rarely eat at buffets due to ? cleanliness. Peng Garden has a very clean, full of great food selections, buffet, even with fruit & salad choices. Easy parking, I was quickly waited on, the food was hot and many options including seafood. Prices reasonable, atmosphere cozy & comfortable. I will definitely eat here again!
(visited 12-23-24) Food was bland, anything fried was a bit overcooked and dried out. The fried rice was just plain bad. The staff was very friendly. The place looks dated. Despite all of that, surprisingly busy crowd at lunch. We have not found a decent Chinese food place after moving to GS over a year ago, so it is par for the course for the area. Three of our family members went together and we all gave the food a "it's not terrible, but it's not actually good either" rating. Food was good enough to eat, but not good enough to make any of us ever want to go back. Food was overall "just edible" but that was about it.
Mr Wok
Came here with the family and it was still pretty good. We both had combo A 11.99 which was 1 side and 1 meat and eggroll. I asked if I could have half rice and noodles she said yes and I had the honey chicken. She then asked if I wanted an eggroll or rangoons and I told her rangoons. The picture said it was supposed to come with an eggroll so I assumed I could pick either one when she asked. When the cashier rang me up she said it was 15.44 and I asked why so much and she responded that I got the rangoons and I pointed to the picture and I told her I thought it came with it she said because I had noodles and rice the rangoons weren't included. Instead of arguing I just told her to take the rangoons off. No further issues. This is still the only takeout that I can eat without soy sauce. The honey chicken with rice and noodles is a good combo. My super picky kids liked the noodles and chicken so it worked out. We will be back.
Good Americanized Chinese. Rice was good, chicken was good, and they even had an Icee machine.
Jade Garden Chinese Buffet Restaurant
It's a small Chinese buffet. The selection of food is small. The place is clean. The food is good. Overall it's ok.
You seat yourself. Waitress was there once seated to take our drink order. The food was wonderful. The staff were great as well.
Soul Bowlz Foley
This place has an awesome environment and friendly staff. Very clean and decorated so cute. My favorite bowl is Ocean. I also really like the energy bits. Great place to order bowls for work events for a lot of people or just a light lunch if you’re trying to eat better. There’s also a nice table outside to sit and enjoy your food in this beautiful weather. I recommend going to see Taylor and trying all the different Bowlz she offers! You’ll be glad you did!
Had a wonderful meal here, the food was really good! But heads up to my fellow dog owners, they don't allow pups even though there's no sign saying so and they are also located by a dog park’ Plus, the staff's approach when informing us was less than welcoming. Some clear signage and a friendlier heads-up would make a world of difference! We were told to wait outside with our dog and the bowls were gonna be brought outside. Pictures down below with our waiting area
Wacked Out Weiner
Had my first experience there yesterday and was not disappointed one bit! I had the Taco Dog and took home a chili cheese dog. The folks were super friendly too! I really look forwards to coming back on my next visit here!
First time here and I will definitely be back. The staff is super friendly and the food is exceptional. They have so many options for toppings! Highly recommend the wacky Mackey hot dog!
The Gift Horse Restaurant and Antiques
NEAT BUILDING ! Lots of history since being built in 1912 .They have a huge lunch buffet . I wasn't that hungry , so I had soup and salad bar for $9 . Shrimp Bisque & Swamp Soup were very good . House dressing was awesome, and the fried biscuits were delicious . My friendly , helpful waitress informed me that dessert was only included in the lunch buffet . I asked about the pudding cake & she told me to go get some on the house . Southern hospitality at its finest ! I hope I tipped her enough !
The Gift Horse Restaurant was an adventure all it's own. It's southern style buffet offers some of the best food in the area. It was truly a wonderful experience for the taste buds.
Fish River Grill
My husband and I agreed this restaurant is one of the best we’ve ever ate at. You could tell right away a lot of locals eat there. He got the Bayou platter. I got the fish and shrimp. You get a small sampling of swamp soup to start followed by your meal that includes the BEST slaw, homemade hush puppies, fried okra, and fries as sides. The only bad thing o could say was they serve Pepsi products 😆 But I can overlook that for that delicious food!
It's a cool and chill place during the off-season, and quite busy busy during summer. Food is always good. I love the complementary Swamp Soup that comes with almost everything. But I'm from the south, and it reminds me of my grandma's. Service is always polite. Very casual. And it's old school charm. You gotta pay at the front. But don't forget to tip your server. They do a lot more than just take your order. My only suggestion is to always get the sauce on the side, no matter what dish you get, because some of them are not catered to specific tastes. To me, personally, I have never disliked a sauce, but I know picky eaters. Just be safe and sauce on the side!!! Oh, and by the way, if you're into bloody Mary's. This is a special one they serve. Always ask about drink specials too, my draft beer was only 2 dollars!
Lambert's Cafe
The food here is just like Mama makes at home. The fried potatoes and turnip greens were so good. Everything here is worth the price. The service is fantastic, and the wait staff is phenomenal. I will be coming back here anytime I am in the area. My only regret is I didn't come here sooner on my vacation as I would have gone here more. A table a few seats away had a crying toddler. One of the staff came over and held the kid till she stopped crying. Absolutely incredible service!!!
This place was so good. I liked everything about it. Good old fashioned cooking. The throwed rolls makes it fun too. I like the shared plates such a great idea. Then you can try different things. We shared a lot of our food.
